    Last fat birthday

I wish you all the luck in the world to obtain your wish for your next birthday. I made it to goal for my birthday this year and am very happy because I can shop almost any where I want. To be honest I kinda went overboard on buying clothes for myself but hey I figure I have no intentions of changing my size so I look at it as an investment. LOL Once again the very best to you with your upcoming surgery and here's to a healthier and happier you..

    I'm confused a little

I use Jay Robb Whey Protein Powder. It has 25g of protein per serving. It comes in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and I believe tropical flavors I use Torani sugar free syrups in it to add flavor. Torani sugar free syrups come in a multitude of flavors. I also use PB2 chocolate peanut powder or PB2 peanut powder to add flavor also adds more protein to the shake. I use skim milk when making my shakes and that add even more protein. I have used and still use all of these products. Good luck and best wishes.

    Cocktails?

Yes you can after a period of time but liquor will not feel like it's effecting you but it accumulates faster in your blood system then it did before surgery. Liquor has a lot of calories in it. You have decide if it's worth while.
  4. I have very fine hair to start with and I did loose some hair from the shock of surgery to the system. I take Biotin in chewable form every day and have not noticed other hair growth in odd places. I get in plenty of protein every day but of course I'm 13 months post op. I made sure I ate my protein so I would heal properly and also to help maintain as much hair as possible. You also can loose hair from an imbalance in your hormones which was a problem for me and that wasn't from the surgery. Good luck and best wishes.
  5. I originally was going to have the sleeve but because of type II diabetes and GERDS I went with bypass. My gastric doctor was the person who really helped make my decision based on the curing of the GERDS to have the bypass. With the type II diabetes I stopped taking meds for it the day of surgery and there was no turning back to them. My other problems like high blood pressure, cholesterol, and other things went away quickly. I no longer use CPAP for the last six months at least. I am glad I went with the bypass because it worked fine for me. To make your decision go by what health issues you have and study how the sleeve will help them and how the bypass will help them. I know it's a big decision and maybe your surgeon office has informational videos to watch to see the difference. My surgeon's office did and they helped. Go to search engines for both surgeries and read up about them as much as you can. Good luck with your decision for both in their own way will bring you to a healthier you.

    Arthritis and Fibromialgia Pain

I have both arthritis and fibromyalgia and all I take is Tylenol. There is no pain med that you can take for it. You might ask for Linoderm Patches from your doctor. They might help relieve some of the pain. You wear them 12 hours on 12 hours off. You can try going to a pain specialist if you can to help you. You must tell them all medical history and what meds you are taking so you have no problems with your anti despressants and your bypass. I can very much relate to you on this subject and wish you less pain. One other thing. Believe it or not but exercise helps with managing the pain. Even if you walk or go to Water exercises. Any exercise is better then none. Also stretching helps too.

    Sleeve or Bypass?

I originally was going to have the sleeve and prepared for it all the way to less then a month before surgery I switched to have the bypass. The reason for this was because of GERDS, diabetes and a few other things. Both my gastric doctor and surgeon felt it was the best option for me and I went with their knowledge since they knew about these things better then I did. You have to go with the surgery that YOU are most comfortable with and you must discuss with the surgeon what is best for your health history. Good luck in your decision. I don't regret mine at all.
  8. Your multi Vitamin needs to be chewable so I use Flintstones children's complete. I take two at a time. Your Calcium citrate must be chewable I get mine from Celebrate Vitamins. Your Omega 3 can be in pill form. Your Vitamin D3 can be in pill form. If you take Biotin to help with future hair loss I use Biotin Dots from Twin Labs. The reason you need chewables for certain vitamins and supplements is because with bypass you don't absorb them properly in pill form. This is standard information. Good luck with your future surgery.

    Biotin? Coromega?

Hi, I take Biotin in a chewable form because it's better absorbed then taking the pills. I would also spread out the Biotin during the day. Some in the morning and some in the night. I use Twin Labs Biotin Dots. Good luck with your surgery and here's to a healthier and happy you.

    Whey protein intolerance

Ask about taking lactose pills to help with digestion of the Whey Protein. Ask about using Egg White powdered protein from Jay Robb. It comes in plain, vanilla and chocolate I believe. Has as much protein as the Jay Robb Whey Protein powder which is 23 or 25g of protein per serving. Harp on your nutritionist until they contact you back and if they don't contact your surgeon's office and let them know what is going on with you. Possibly if they are all connected then they can help you with the nutritionist getting back to you. Good luck and take care.

    Low temp

I would say you should be asking your surgeon's office about this. They are the best judge of what is going on and what you should do. Call them first thing in the morning and discuss this matter with them. Better to be safe then sorry when your not sure about something. Take care.

    Sugar vs Sugar Free

Sugar Alcohol will upset peoples stomachs easily for some. You might be having problems with the whey Protein and might need to take lactose pills to help digest it. Ask your nutritionist about this. There is egg white Protein powder that you can ask your nutritionist about if that could be substituted instead. Jay Robb makes that. All of Jay Robb products use Stevia as their sweetener. I use Jay Robb products and have no problem. Read labels carefully. This could be a temporary problem and might go away as you progress. I would really discuss this with the surgeon's office and most certainly with your nutritionist so you can get the right nutrition in you. Good luck and feel good.
  13. IMO you should stay with keeping your appointments for at least the first year. Your PCP is not an expert on gastric bypass and the workings of it probably. There are certain tests that have to be done for you everything three months up to the first year and then every year after that to make sure you are getting the proper nutrition. You also should be seeing a nutritionist every three months for checkups too for the first year and the once every year after that. This is pretty standard schedule that most patients that I know of follow. You're doing fabulous and I wish you continued success.

    second opinion

Yes of course they will charge you. Yes people have changed surgeons before their surgery but you better check with your insurance to make sure that they won't make you start the process all over again for doing so. Good luck.
  15. That's hysterical that you did this. Most ingenious to think of something like that. I hope that everything goes great for you and congratulations on making this life changing decision. You will feel so much better physically and mentally by doing this surgery. Best of luck and good wishes for success.

    What do I do?

I would call the insurance company to make sure that the surgeons office actually sent in your paper work and where you stand on this with them. I would call your email the office manager and tell them exactly what is going on with this situation and how poorly you are being treated. In the worst case you could change surgeons and see if your insurance company would make you start all over again or if you can transfer your information to a new surgeon. You don't have to put up with this and don't because they are playing with your life decision. Best of luck in getting some answers.
  17. It would be IMO the best gift you could give yourself. I am so glad I did and the changes physically and mentally have be wonderful. I'm off of almost all meds except for my mental health ones and with those I'm being weaned off of slowly to much lower dosages. I have fibromylgia, osteo arthritis, RSD, and stenosis of the spine and the surgery has made it easier to get around. I still have pain don't get me wrong but it's still not as bad as it once was when I weighed 350 at one time. Again IMO you will be very happy that you did the surgery if you do it. Good luck with your decision about this and don't let anyone detour what you feel is best for you. You have to do this for you and no one else. The best to you.
  18. For at least a month after surgery. I suggest you call the surgeons office and ask what they feel since they have seen how your incisions are healing. They are the best judge for this. I can only go by what I was told. Take care.
  19. Oh Pik I'm glad you are feeling a little better it's good to hear. I have a problem with things getting stuck because my esophagus is smaller then normal. It's very painful when things get stuck and it can happen any time with foods I'm even used to. It baffles my mind at times. I have found that taking Gas X strips helps relieve the pressure and pain. I have taken them even while eating so I'm able to finish what I'm suppose to and need to eat. I have yet to throw up so I don't share that with you. I have felt like it but have been lucky not to. I hope that the doctor can solve your problem once and for all so you don't have to go through these problems any more. Good luck Thursday and take care.

    Sugaraholic

I'm such a sugaraholic that I dream of gorging on sweets and that's the only time I have them is in my dreams. LOL I don't touch sugary things at all like I did all my life. I'm offered to try stuff all the time and I just say no. I have found substitutes for wanting something sweet like Quest Bars that have 20g or 21g of Protein in them. They come in a multitude of flavors. sugar free popsicles. I prefer Bomb Pops sugar free popsicles made with Splenda. Sugar free pudding. I use Torani sugar free syrups in my Protein shakes to have different flavored shakes. They come in all sorts of flavors and are made with Splenda. I use PB2 Peanut Butter or PB2 chocolate peanut butter powders to my shakes and they add 4g of protein to the shake also. These are just a few things you can do or if you cook or bake I suggest you go to the site of The World According to Eggface. You will find a lot of recipes to help you. Good luck with your upcoming surgery and don't worry so much it will be okay.

    Questions

It really depends on a lot of factors about having excess skin. Your age, how much you work out, genetics. For Protein shakes I make my own using Jay Robb whey Protein powder. It comes in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and tropical. You can get sample packs from the company to try. I also use in my Protein drinks Torani sugar free syrups to add different flavors to them. I also use PB2 Peanut Butter powder or PB2 chocolate peanut butter powder. It has great flavor and adds extra protein to your shake. Before using the Torani or PB2 ask your nutritionist if they are okay to use in the early stages for you. I don't think they will say no but each nutritionist is different about what they allow. Good luck with your surgery and a healthier you.

    Mother is on my tail!

You're only three weeks out and your eating solids like eggs, chicken salad and bread. According to my book you shouldn't be eating these foods at this stage. I think you're ahead of yourself in what you are eating and suggest you go back and reread your book. Contact your nutritionist and see if you can see them to learn what you should be eating at only three weeks out because it sure isn't what you are doing according to my guide book and nutritionist. Let us know what is told to you please.
  23. It was a month before I could go exercising and I had to start out slow and build up on my routine. Swimming is longer because of the chlorine in the pool. Your surgeon will inform you when you can go back to both because only they will be watching your incisions and they must clear you for both. Please don't rush yourself take each day as it comes after surgery. I do know that after surgery it will help you to walk as much as you can. Your surgeon will encourage you to do this. Good luck with your surgery.

    kicking sugar

I use a few things to help me with my sweet tooth. Quest Bars which are made with Stevia, come in lots of flavors and taste really good. They have 20g or 21g of Protein and my nutritionist says they are a good choice. sugar free Bomb Pops Popsicles. Sugar Free pudding. I add things to my Protein shakes like fruit, PB2 Peanut Butter powder, PB2 chocolate peanut butter powder, or Torani sugar free syrups that come in a multitude of flavors. The PB2 will add extra protein to your shakes also. So as you can she that I'm one year out and I have been successful using these to help out. Good luck.

    Protein shakes

I have been using Jay Robb whey Protein powder from the beginning. It comes in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and Tropical flavors. It's made with Stevia as the sweetener. I add to it at times PB2 Peanut Butter powder or PB2 chocolate peanut butter powder. I sometimes add to it Torani sugar free Syrups which comes in a multitude of flavors. Ask your nutritionist if it's okay with them to use these at the beginning right after surgery because they might not you having them at that stage. I've known individuals that like unjury protein powders which also come in Vanilla, Chocolate or Strawberry. I would call the companies to get sample packs to try them out. Good luck with your journey to a healthier you and with your surgery.
