    PB2

I really wanted to try this but couldn't find it at the store I shop at. Thank you for posting this about Target having it and that it's on sale too. I will go and get it this week to give it a try. How do you use it? Do you put in protein shakes since it's a powder? I'm just curious.
  2. Yes you can be successful on vacation as long as you remember what you are taught by your nutritionist and surgeon on how to eat properly and portion wise. When you get to the solid stage go out and practice with going to different meals at a restaurants and she how you do. If you can do that with no problem then you should have no trouble on vacation. Good luck with your upcoming surgery.
  3. If I were you I would not eat that because high fat foods can make you sick. Your husband is correct that you shouldn't be eating that at all. First of all you should be eating chicken, turkey, fish and eggs at this stage no beef or pork yet. Phase 2 if I remember is puréed foods or maybe soft foods. Your stomach or pouch can not handle anything else then that. If you check with your nutritionist I can almost guarantee that that's what they tell you. If you got a instructional book read it carefully to know what to eat at each stage of the program if you want to be successful.
  4. I take three anti depressants, Lexapro, Abilify, and Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin in time released and had to change the dosage to taking a couple times a day. I never heard about anti depressants causing problems with surgery. I would check with your psychiatrist before ever going off your Lexapro because it dangerous going off a med like that without being weaned off of it slowly. The gas probably is a reaction to the food you might be consuming. I have found I can't eat certain things any more because they cause that problem. You also could have an adverse reaction to dairy, and this can happen for awhile after surgery. Please check in with your PCP or surgeon about this dietary problem.
  5. Congratulations! I remember trying on my husbands jeans and fitting into them, now they are to big for me. I weigh less then him and that's a first and I've been with him 28 years.
  6. Don't over do the drinking of more then 4oz at a time. Drink very slowly. You could do damage to your pouch. Be really careful you don't want any problems to occur.
  7. As long as you take the pain meds you can't drive. When you are off of them then you will get the okay to drive again. I would say at least a week after surgery.

    Lets talk about shoes!

My feet went from a 10 to a 9. I am able to were different types of shoes.
  12. I ate baby food and added seasonings to the meat ones. To the fruit ones you can add stevia or Splenda or whatever you use as a sweetener, just not sugar.

    Scale

I don't like scales at home I think they are self defeating. Take that scale and put it away. If you really feel that you must weigh yourself then use it only once a week wearing the same clothes and at the same time. Preferably in the morning. Don't be a slave to that monster because it will make you crazy with all it's different answers.

    Endoscopy Expectations

I agree with the others. It was simple and you go in the operating room, you lay on your side, they give you some IV sleep meds and the next thing you know is your in their recovery room waking up. Since you have had nothing to drink or eat they won't let you go until you eat and drink some. Don't worry about it.

    light headed

Are you taking in enough protein? Are you drinking enough water? These two things can cause lightheaded feeling if you aren't getting enough protein and water in your pre op plan. If you are doing enough protein and water then I would check with your doctor about this.

    liquid diet

Betsy I suggest you skip a little of the other stuff and drink that third slim fast because at this point you are not getting enough protein in your body. That's the most important part in eating correctly. Protein always comes first then water then the other foods. If you want to ask your nutritionist about this and I'm pretty sure they will say the same thing. Good luck with your upcoming surgery.
  17. Did your nutritionists gave you a list of protein powders that you can use. Protein powder is cheaper then buying the pre made protein drinks. Buy sugar free pudding or sugar free jello for your post surgery menu. Buy chicken broth, canned low fat soups and purée them in the blender to make them the right consistence. You can add unflavored protein powder to these to help get your protein in for the day. You can use skim milk or unsweetened almond milk to mix your protein powder with. You must follow the quide lines of what foods to eat at each stage of post op. A lot of the foods will be eligible to purchase with food, stamps I'm pretty sure. For vitamins buy what's on the list that the nutritionist gave you. Some nutritionist get samples from companies so ask if they do. Good luck with your surgery.

    Port site pain?

May I suggest you call your surgeon immediately. Don't wait because you might or might not have a problem. Only your surgeon càn tell. In the mean time use cold compresses on the site to bring down the swelling. Good luck with taking care of this.

    liquid diet

Each surgeon has a different plan for eating on the liquid diet. For example I had to drink four protein shakes a day and raw vegetables. Did your nutritionist or surgeon give you a list of what you can have at this stage? I suggest doing some activity that keeps you busy. For an example take a course at the local college or an art class. Learn to knit or crochet. Find something that is interesting for you. Go start exercising on a regular basis. You will be doing that activity after surgery about three weeks or four weeks after surgery. When you have your surgery walk as much as you can because that will help with the pain. Last but not least good luck with your surgery.

    Pure Vain issue.

I'm still a DD only my bra size has changed. I hope you stay the way you want. Good luck.
  22. May I suggest Unjury chicken soup. It has 20 grams of protein per serving and it's tasty IMO. Getting all your protein will help you heal. Lack of protein will slow down the healing process and make you weak. You could get unflavored protein and add it to sugar free jello or sugar free pudding. As for exercise I was back at the gym one month after surgery but I walked every day and did the stairs as much as I could. Listen to your body and go according to what your surgeon tells you about the exercise. Good luck.
  23. I would ask for them. Maybe it's they whey protein you can't handle. Have you thought of trying egg white protein powder? If you haven't tried that yet may I recommend Jay Robb Egg White Protein Powder and if you can tolerate Whey Protein Powders then the Jay Robb is easy to drink. I use both types. You can get Jay Robb products at Whole Foods, directly from the company or Amazon. The come in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and one or two other flavors. May I also recommend Torani sugar free syrups to give your shake a different flavor. They are made with Splenda. They come in a multitude of flavors. You can get them directly from the company or if you have World Market stores in your area they carry it too. Feel better.

    Fashion

Jenny have you tried Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, Chicos or Lands End. I had real good luck with them in finding clothes that are not crazy fashions like they are show these days. Good luck in finding new clothes for yourself.
