  1. Wow, this really hits home for me. When I had my lap band I told only a select few at work. My son had the sleeve shortly after my band. He told everyone. He was a success story 325 to 180. Me, I felt guilty because I only lost about 25lbs and struggled the whole 4 years I had that thing. Now its gonna be different. I'm gonna tell the world and not hide it and if people don't like it they don't have to be around me.....I do wish you success and you are going to have to be comfortable in YOUR decision! Live your life with no regrets!!!
  2. Pumpkin 73, Just remember all the hard aches you have gone thru with your lap band. Things are going to be so much better with your RNY! I am right behind you with a rny date 10/29/13!!! Lap band out 7/30/13!
  3. Wow, this site is amazing! I had just googled Beanitos and found where they are sold in my town. On my shopping list today....I'm sure I will like them. When I had my lap band I really missed the crunch you get with a lot of "Junk Food". Beanitos even have protein, and no corn. This was a great find.
  4. Hope you got to cook lots of good yummy things with your "Defrost"! On the other hand, I could be a really bad itch to the one that comments in the office and its not professional!!!! I feel that they have a job, just do it and don't moan about it! Keep us updated!
  5. Tricare South-Prime, I see a civilian Dr because the nearest hospital of excellence is 3 hours away! I had my lapband out about 7weeks ago and I was required to submit proof of exercise (gym membership), documented weight from beginning of band to post band removal, psych eval and approved! No pre-op diet ordered! I consider that to be pretty darn lucky! I will schedule surgery 10/21
  6. kkelly37, you are so funny! I could hang with you! When I told my boss about my plans for surgery, she just told me I should do a diet and exercise program instead of having surgery. I really understand your feelings about being around other people and don't feel like you are worthy because of your weight! Its gonna change with this fat, are you pregnant, just diet and exercise GIRL!
  7. Well what did you find out? I would have called first thing. Yep, they would get tired of me either calling or showing up in their office. A girls gotta do, what a girls gotta do! can't wait.
  8. Hey bundle of nerves, you got this! Words of affirmation that this is for you! God Bless to you and your babies.
  9. FayeJ, my first surgery lapband was with a military institute. It was all good. I did not do well on the band. I had a lot of port pain, n/v always feeling hungry but couldn't eat. My port had flipped and drs could not access it to take fluid out. So, since my band placement my husband has retired and now I had my band taken out Tricare prime and scheduled for RNY Oct 3 with Tricare prime civilan dr that took band out. The military was good they had support groups and was always there for questions. Good Luck!

  11. kkelly, take matters in your own hands!!! Go to the office like previously stated by TurnThePage. Walk your paper thru the process and don't take no for the answer. Please take a stand. That is a complete waste to pay for insurance office to file crap! You can do this!!! Just go in first thing when they open! be the first one in the office!!! Let them know how distasteful it is to not return phone calls. Be sure and tell them you will give a negative review. Let us know how things turn out.
  12. WOW, I'm scheduled for October 3. My doc is not requiring me to do 10 day liquid diet!!! Stoked! He said I was on the fence with my BMI and I could do the surgery or not.......I am post lapband removal and have done so much research on all surgeries.... I just blurted out SCHEDULE ME :} My husband laughed at me and said that I did not even ponder on making the decision. I told him I was tired of not seeing results of our workout and eating right....I wanted payoff!! No more people thinking I'm pregnant. I carry a lot of my weight in the middle..No more obesity, cause my whole family line is obese. I don't want that. He is so proud. That makes me feel good.
  13. MOMMYTONYA, You look amazing! I consider your story to be a success. Lots of hard work and emotions. Way to go Girl.
  14. Tscription, I really hope you do all research on the lapband. I'm really not one to say don't because that would make me want to even more, but really consider going on the forum band to Rny. Really listen {read} what these people are saying.....
  15. Vicki s, Niacin made me feel really jittery. I talked with one of the docs I work with and he did say that niacin could make me feel that way and suggested taking that at night so I could sleep thru it. I think it has helped me.
  16. I agree, check w/ your doc. Could be a symptom from your vitamins.... I was very sensitive to niacin.
  17. Sawyersmommie, I suggest going to the original docs office that has the referral, getting a copy of the referral and faxing that to the insurance company yourself..... Or getting a fax number from the insurance and give it to your docs office and tell the you will need the confirmation page once that is faxed, usually 48 to 72 hours for this to be done... Not sure why the docs office is giving some lame info about the hospital!! Good luck!
  18. woWwow thisThis forum is so great! I have read all the effects that I have gone thru. From vomiting, trying to hide the fact I had this stupid surgery, from feeling stuck and hungry at the same time, pain at the port site, multiple attempts of the doctors trying to take the fluid out!!! So blessed that stupid thing is out now. I'm 5 weeks post op. I called one of the clinics that cover the sleeve and RnY and was trying to find out what I would need to file for either surgery and she basically said to me that weight loss is really all in your head!!!!! WHAT???? MY HEAD???? I was so shocked. I'm gonna have to go thru that bias crap AGAIN!!!!!! AAARRRGGG!!! I don't wish ill harm on people, I just wished people could understand obesity better!!!
  19. I do agree w/ previous posts, your husband should stand up to his family for his sweetie! When you are present you should tell them how you feel. They are the ones losing out! If they don't change their ways then you just find cheerleaders for your life not downers.
  20. Try using the crock pot and cook extras so you have left overs. You will find the money you save and more time for studying when you can just heat it up! Good luck in school! You can do it!
  21. Yes! I feel like I wasted 4 years of my life fighting my lapband and right now with no restriction it goes against EVERYTHING I've learned. Just really scary! I too am looking into the RNY because I feel it would be the better choice. We will see....
  22. BroJoe, good luck with your research! It will sure help with a lot of your questions. I had my lapband out 6 weeks ago and I too, will face the decision of self pay sleeve, or insurance covered RNY. 4 years ago I had a lapband because I talked myself out of the RNY. So sorry I did that! My son had the sleeve and has been a poster child patient.....I find myself in your shoes, doing research!!
