Good morning ladies! Surgery was yesterday, went perfectly, RNY and cholecystectomy. I walked twice yesterday, passed the blue ice test an pain was minimal after the first two hours. I'm on a morphine pump and getting Tylenol 3 via IV every 4-6 hours. I have found the Tylenol help snore than the morphine. Day 2 and feeling amazing!!! Glad to be on losers bench with you all.
My hospital is amazing and the nursing staff is super responsive and attentive, this could not be going any better!

I'm using the Bariatric Advantage shakes and they are kinda yucky...hope I can handles them post op cause they have great nutrition stats. I'm loosing about 2-3 lbs a day though, so that part is exciting. Hope the rest of you pre-oppers are doing well on the diet

Woohoo!!! Finally got my surgery date and it's in October!!!! I was beginning to freak out because the surgeons office seemed to be dragging their feet. My date is October 23rd!!! Anyone share that date with me? I had my labs/chest X-ray/EKG/pre-admission done today and my class is Monday! So excited that I don't have to switch to the November thread!

Pretty bummed right now. I've had a very itchy rash all over my body for about 3 weeks. I've had two docs say it's prob from the Vitamins I'm taking for the surgery. Got a biopsy on it today and will get those results in a week. Have to stop all vitamins and call my surgeon tomorrow to tell them what's going on. I have a feeling this will delay my surgery. I'm very bummed right nowHate to hear that! Do they think it's the brand of vitamins?
-
Thank you! We are all gonna be rockin new bodies by this time next year!!! Maybe even 6 months from now . Has anyone's doc given them specific weight loss goals? Like how much you should be losing by when?

I just got my approval! Took less than 48 hours once my surgeons office finally submitted it! Amazing! So excited!!
-
Tamisa, mine got submitted yesterday so I'm in the boat with you! Still hoping for October. My surgeons office held on to my paperwork for a week before submitting it...I've been going cray cray! Lol!!
-
Awesome! It would be a huge help to run all those costs through a tax free benefit!
-
Has anyone had any luck getting their Vitamin costs reimbursed through flex spending accounts post-op? I haven't had my surgery yet, and I know Vitamins are usually not a qualified expense, but I have read some language that says if the vitamins are medically necessary then they may be reimbursable.

Thanks ladies! I'm glad Humana isn't going to be a pain to deal with. I have Tricare Prime but Im having the surgery with an off base surgeon. I'm hoping that the only costs I'll have is the nutrition appointments.....so far so good. I'm just hoping the auth comes through quickly.
-
Thanks! I'll try to find her, and that's good news about the easy part!

Hubs is in the AF and we are stationed at Tinker. We have tricare south which is Humana military, anyone else dealt with them? How long did it take to get the authorization once it was submitted?

Also......I discovered something called PB2 that you can add to Protein Shakes. It's actually powdered Peanut Butter. It has lots of Protein and hardly any of the sugar that normal peanut butter has! So if you like the flavor of peanut butter it's awesome

Good morning girls! Hope you all have an awesome Saturday!
I use a Protein shake called Premier Protein, it's at SAMs club and maybe Walmart. It's got 30 grams of Protein and I think only 6 grams of carbs. I like the chocolate flavor. It's thin too, not gritty or thick like some can be.
I also drink Isopure sometimes, it's fruit flavored and come in a big bottle. It has 60 grams of protein per bottle! I usually drink half a bottle at a time. I like the red and purple flavors. You can buy them at GNC, but I get them at the Commissary on base for a lot cheaper if any of you are military wives.....

I like OMG October too! Lol.
I am having a double surgery too, only they are taking out my gallbladder. I'm happy to get it out because its made me miserable for years - two for one deal is great for me!
I've bought a ton of hardware too . And my date isn't set in stone yet, but my insurance is pretty fast to Approve so I know it's gonna be early Oct.

Just heard today that October 2nd is my day to join the losers bench. Will be a slight delay from the original August date (was supposed to be yesterday -I also learned today) due to insurance issues caused by my husband's lay off. My surgeon is on vacation in late September, so I hope he'll be well rested and ready because I know I will be!
Molly
Congrats Molly! You might be the first one in our little group. You can help coach us all through what to expect

I need to share my frustration today!!!
When I get my surgery, I am not only getting the bypass, but they are also going to remove my ovaries. So- trying to coordinate with the bariatric surgeon and the OBGYN surgeon.
My OBGYN surgeon just called me and said the ONLY day she is available in October is the 21st. I called my bariatric surgeon, and he refuses to schedule me until I have my next appointment on Sept 13th. Im freaking out- if we wait too long to get it scheduled, who knows when they can coordinate another day.
Im just irritated they wont just schedule it. :| GRrrrrrrr
Ugh! Boo to your surgeon, lol! Maybe it will all work out perfect still

My doc made me do 3days Clear Liquids, then 2 weeks of full liquids (protein shakes an liquids), then I can start 3weeks of puréed foods, 3 weeks of soft foods then solid foods. It's a very conservative approach by I'm glad because it's gentle on the pouch and I've had zero problems so far......of course I'm still in the full liquid stage
