1. Hi, had surg on sep 10. No pre surg diet, just no food or Water after midnight before surg. Went in at 5:30 am. Surgery about 8:30. Went fine in hospital 3days. Clear Liquids 24 hours after surg. Full liquids 48 hour after surg. 2 weeks after surg step 3 foods. Soft mushy. 4 weeks after surg any foods I wanted to try as long as nutrient dense. No sugars obviously, Protein, soft veggies and fruits. Lost 15 pounds ast two weeks, scale got stuck, lost two more pounds 2nd 2 weeks, now have lost 23 pounds total. Got sick twice, both times eating crackers with tuna. Think I ate too fast too, not thinking about what I was doing ( eating ) and didn't chew well enough. Went back to work 6 days after surg. Felt good, no brain power though. Realtor so stayed at my desk and answered questions. Now that scale numbers are moving again I feel better, I was a little depressed, but stuck to plan. Feeling good walking 35 mins a day, not cleared for lifting or full workout yet. Lots of support, hubby not sure this is a good thing, but still supportive. Size smaller already!

  2. I'm 19 days out from surgery and I've gained 3 lbs in the past 5 days. I'm seriously discouraged :( I've read a lot about stalls' date=' but actual weight gain ugh. This blows

    HW(9/3/13)- 284, DOS(9/11/13)-270, CW-257(9/25/13), GW-155(by 9/21/14...my 26th birthday!)[/quote']

What about your cycle, could that be it? I gained8-9 pounds some months! Had pcos, endometriosis, fibroids. Lots of stuff going on.

  3. My Surgery was on 9/11 and I'm down about 24lbs. Today I'm feeling kind of weak and drained. I'm a pretty active guy and think I over do it on most days. I have been having a Protein shake for Breakfast and some Tomato / cheese Soup or mashed potatoes for lunch & dinner. I'm drinking my Water throughout the day. I question if I'm getting enough food or calories? Last week I was trying some different foods and probably trying some soft foods to soon so I backed off even though I tolerated most if what I tried. I have my first follow up with my surgeon' date=' RN, and nutritionist tomorrow and supposed to return to work on Tuesday. I will need more energy for I can tell that. Just looking for some advice and opinions from you. Not a lot of men on here compared to women and I wonder the gender difference makes???[/quote']

Are you allowed to take your Vitamins yet? My surgery was 9/10 and they told me ok to and must start taking Vitamins at my follow up on the 24th. Helped my energy level immediately! Also I know it sounds contradictory but exercising, walking helps with energy levels. Protein is what the most important nutrient is besides Water. Is what they told me. If you were in the program at my docs you would be told to get at least 75g of protein/day since you are a guy. I have to get 65. Supplement the protein by adding unflavored or flavored protein powder to your food and drinks.

  4. I'm 6 days post op. Have no problem getting all my Water down' date=' but still getting just 30-40 grams of Protein. How about everyone else?

    HW(9/3/13)- 284,
DOS(9/11/13)-269,
CW-265(9/15/13),
GW-155(by 9/21/14...my 26th birthday!)[/quote']

Hi, 7 days post op for me. I could get about 50oz Water and 2-4 oz of the liquid shakes about 4-5 times a day. Not enough protein! Nut says liquid shakes count as liquids, so swapped out same amt of water for three Atkins rtd shakes and voila! 45 more grams of Protein. Also picked up unflavored Protein powder to mix into whatever I am trying to get down. Good in cream Soup, and sugar free fat free puddings so far.

  5. Great news!!! :)

The gas can take a few days but everyone is different. I came home Saturday and the gas did not fully leave until about yesterday' date=' Tuesday. I did a lot of walking, some gas-x and a hot pad helped. Just remember every day it gets better and better.[/quote']

I can hardly believe the difference from day to day after surgery. Trying not to overdo it tho. Don't want to have troubles from doing too much!

I m so glad to be on this side of the surgery, and glad to hear everybody's updates!

  6. My surgey was yesterday. Went well! Hiatal (sp) hernia repaired too. Clear liquids today. No more IV fluids as my intake is good and output good too.small pain, easily managed. Walking worked to get rid of gas pain, and I can feel air rolling around in my tummy! No doubt I will be passing gas soon, sorry if tmi. Nurses are very helpful and encouraging. Hooray, hoping to go home tomorrow or Friday.

  7. I will not miss having to ask for a chair with no arms. It's so embarrassing!

I also will not miss having to wait for an electric scooter when I go to the store.

I won't miss not being able to shop at stores who don't have electric scooters.

I won't miss this war going on in my brain. Fighting not to eat when I know I am not hungry. I just want to snack.< /p>

I will not miss the stares and snickers I get when I am in a scooter at a store.

I defiantly won't miss little kids pointing and saying "look mommy she's fat". When I'm with my own kids and they get mad and defensive and wants to knock the little kid out.

I won't miss not being able to carry my daughter around. I was so happy when she started walking so I could walk with her and hold her hand. I was never able to carry her to far. Mostly because of my back pain and leg and knee pain.

The last thing I won't miss is people tell me I am going to fail. People saying come on let's go out to eat when they know you are trying to loose weight. I sometimes have to cuss people out because they don't understand what I am fighting for. I am fighting for my life here. No I don't need that pizza or those burgers and fries!! Let me have my shake and stop asking me!! :)

I actually told a friend of my sisters that he's the guy that would ask an alcoholic to have just one beer with him when he kept after me to go out to a buffet with them! Also having to use the handicapped stall in the restroom, and ordering two or three drinks in the drive through to pretend I am getting food for more than just me! It's been a long journey to get to this point and I am so ready to get the extra help having this surgery will give me!

  8. Got the call from the hospital' date=' have to check in at 6 am on Monday! It's getting closer and closer! I switch to all clear liquid diet only tomorrow and colon cleanse stuff. Yuck. I'm so nervous something is going to go wrong. I've been stressing myself out so bad. I need encouragement! :([/quote']

Sending thoughts of peace, calming and healing your way! You will do great nothing is going to go wrong! You are finally on the doorstep, don't worry, it will go well!
