Didn't care for it before, Can't have now, BUT NOW CRAVING IT, OMG

lol I craved a cheeseburger throughout my 10 day pre op liquid diet. I think it's because it was the most "meaty" substantive thing I could think of and all I was doing was drinking stuff. We always want what we can't have.

    Probiotics

I bought it at the drug store and at the grocery store. They have it on amazon too. It's made a real big difference for me.

    Terrified of hair loss

Remember, it will take time for the biotin to work but it definitely does!

    Probiotics

I have been taking Trubiotics and it's a small capsule
  6. My weight loss includes a ten day pre-op liquid diet so I'm doing ten days less awesome than it looks lol. I thought of you as I forced myself to eat another small meal tonight. Man, I feel like I could explode lol. I have to get these calories up too!
  7. Maybe try drinking with a straw? If you are like me, you are used to gulping your drinks. Even if you are taking small gulps, you can still get big air and that air can cause that pain.
  8. Another point Vicki is that you were smaller than a lot of us are. The larger you are the faster you lose so the fact that you are that much smaller, pretty much ensures that you will not lose at the same rate as us bigger girls!
  9. Vicki, I would try to increase those calories. You and I had our surgery around the same time. My doctor told me to get myself up to 1200 calories as I can because I will stall if I don't. I have slowed way way down and am trying to increase the calories. If your body feels like it's starving then it will hang on to that weight as long as possible. I'm in the same boat so I feel your pain. I had made sure I was still having 2 shakes a day but I am going to try to get in 3. It's not easy but we need to work toward that. I will say, when I upped the calories to 800 (I was only getting in like 600) I did drop 2 pounds.

How long did you wait to drive

They said 7 days but Kraney is right, you should be off the pain meds before you get behind the wheel.

    19 days post op...weird question!

I agree, the straw reduces air and may help with the feeling. As for the taste, I still have it. My mouth feels like I have morning breath all day long. Part of it is ketosis, I know that well from my Atkins days. I think a lot of it is though that I am not eating much and when I drink, I'm not drinking the same things I used to. I gave up my diet coke so water and crystal light only is a big change. As for the repeat taste. I did go through some of that for a while but it was right after surgery like day 5-10. I hated it but it did pass. I have noticed that I am way more picky about what I drink out of too now because water bottles taste like plastic now. I think that because we are eating far less, we REALLY taste everything far more. My sense of smell is accelerated too but that's gotten better. Things will iron out!
  13. Having had bypass less than 4 weeks ago I can say YES the shakes are all that at this stage. If it weren't for the shakes, I'd be getting in like 300 calories a day and maybe 20 grams of protein. You get by on little amounts because you are not hungry. Since you are not hungry the only thing making you eat is you saying well, I need to get in more calories and protein today. But the urge for food is gone. I am conscious of the fact that I need to get it in or I'll be too tired. I like the shakes at unjury.com and they do have a sample pack. You dont have to do them forever but I will probably stay with at least one a day. No they aren't cheap but they are cheaper than food. This is the lowest grocery bill ever lol. When I go back to work I will be grateful for the shakes because they are easy and convenient. They also help you get the nutrients you need without the extra junk that got that weight on in the first place. Good luck!

    decisions, decisions

Kindergarten is a harder one Sue. My son doesn't know it but I followed his bus in a friend's car so he wouldn't see me! I video taped him getting off the bus and going into school on his first day of school. Perhaps you can have someone tape something like that for you?

I think I ticked off my pouch :(

lol I'm finding that out. As much as I dont like this, it's a good thing really. I need to remember to slow down, chew well, and not push different foods too fast.

    Period cramps

For those of you who get them and had gastric bypass, what do you take for them? I always took motrin but it's a no no now

I think I ticked off my pouch :(

Thanks music and renjames. I can drink fine so I think it's just grouchy. I do have an appt tuesday so if it's not better by then I'll tell them. I think I maybe just ate too fast and made it cranky. I just didn't know it would stay cranky and even get mad at yogurt!

I think I ticked off my pouch :(

My surgery was 8/7 so almost 4 weeks.

I think I ticked off my pouch :(

I even threw up for the first time today eating something I've eaten several times just fine. It's not happy. I'm sticking to shakes for right now.

when should i tell a date about rny?

Why don't you suggest that you meet for a cup of coffee instead? A lot of online dates do that because it's an easy exit if it doesn't work out. If it does workout then you can go elsewhere from there.

    decisions, decisions

I'd keep her home that day or get someone else to take her. Yes, the start of pre school is an event, my son hated it so it was a bad event lol. But isn't it more important that you get healthy? Keep her home one day and you can stick to both appts! I'm quite sure her education wont be stunted for life over one day

    Tummy Tuck?

A tummy tuck was absolutely the best surgery I ever had! It will do wonders to make you feel more confident and the recovery really isn't bad!

    Pre-op diet starts tomorrow

Make sure that you have protein shakes that you can drink and don't hate. They go a super long way to keep you from being hungry during that time. The hardest part for me, and really, it still is, is my mouth feels yucky from not eating. Have popsicles, they are very soothing! Broth tastes good when you aren't eating! The biggest thing I'd suggest though is that you focus on the goal. You fought so hard to get this revision, do not blow it by cheating on the diet! You dont want to give insurance any excuse to back out. My biggest fear was the surgeon would go in, my liver would be too big and he'd close me up without doing the bypass. It kept me honest lol. Good luck and if you are struggling, come on here and talk about it!
