Highlights and waiting post sleeve

You can do whatever you want to your hair. If you're going to lose some, then you're going to lose some and it doesn't matter what you do. It's not a vitamin issue, nor even a weightloss issue. It's surgery and the anesthesia. It will come back as long as you keep you're protein and vitamins up. Losing our hair isn't related to our weightloss, but growing it back is related to how healthy we keep ourselves in the process.

Any ideas? Everything makes me sick!

Tell your surgeon you're still having this issue. Sometimes it takes more looking to find out what is wrong. Maybe you need to be scoped. Other than that, try warm liquids and warm mushy foods. Perhaps the warmth will help sooth your throat and pouch and make it easier. Also, when I was that new if I didn't take very very small sips and bites, I haf significant pain. That has gone away as I healed.

I Ate 2400 Calories

Cheese and fried things are so hard to say no to! I struggle with these, too. But we have to put them away and save for a once in a while food. I know cheese and starches will make me stall.

My 600lb life

Sometimes when I go for my post op visits I can't help but giggle thinking most of these people have seen me passed out naked lol. Then again, they've also seen my internal organs...

Jogging/running advice needed

At what weight did you all start to feel comfortable jogging? I'm just about to break under 300 and have jogged a little in short intervals, and done a few sprints. My knees definitely smart after and the next day. But it's so hard still to figure out where I should push myself and where I should hold back to keep from injury.

Remedy for constipation?

Try a laxative suppository. When I have got constipation really bad, that did the trick in about 20 minutes. Then once you get that taken care of, take a probiotic and stool softener daily to keep everything moving. The walmart generic stool softener works great, and I like the Bariatric Advantage probiotic. We all know that pain and hope you get it resolved soon.

August 2013 surgeries

70lbs since surgery, 100lbs from highest. It was pretty cool to finally hit that 100lb mark. I'm hoping I can keep up this momentum. Maybe by the end of the year I could be down another 100lbs. I feel good. Have you tried any alternatives to walking that might be gentle on your back or you could do to supplement your walking? Sit and Be Fit is something to check out, also using a resistence band to do strength training. A lot of those exercises you can do sitting. I hope your back feels better as you lose. My hips are a lot more stiff since surgery and I have to do a lot of stretching to keep those muscles from seizing up.

August 2013 surgeries

I eat between 800-1000 cals a day, 70-90 protein, less than 40 carbs. Carbs will stall me (and I mean the ones from potato, pasta, rice, bread, sugar, oatmeal). I also have added 45-60 minutes of exercise in the mornings 5-6 days a week, and an hour of yoga 2 days per week. This combo seems to be working for me after all the stalls I suffered. Worth noting, if I start to get sick or my period I pretty much immediately gain 5lbs of water weight, then it drops back off once it is over.
10. The dietician with my surgeon's office recommends less than 40 per day. 800 cals max, 80g protein, 40g or less carbs. I try to stick to this and go with 25 or less, and usually none at all in the evening.

Just one. Grumpy sits on my left shoulder and will not be tamed.

Chicken soup. Oh so good.

Acid Reflux Smoothie

The enzymes in pineapple are good for digestion, so acid from it wouldn't be a problem. All the sugar, even from fruit, might be a problem for bypass folks though. That said, it sounds delish! If I could fit it in my diet I'd do it!
16. There are a bazillion posts about stalls at this stage and others. It's a part of losing weight unfortunately and frustrating as it may be. If it makes you feel any better, I randomly gained 5lbs today! LOL! Seriously. I changed nothing in my diet and exercise. Random 5lbs of water weight. Our bodies are a pure joy, aren't they?

August Post Ops

Hair: I started losing hair like you mention at about 2 months out. It was totally freaky and I still hate it. However, at 4.5 months it had slowed down significantly. I haven't really started growing it back in I think. My hair and nail growth has slowed down significantly. Energy: I felt tired often the first few months. I just wasn't ready to be very active yet. However, try to keep moving. Just slow walks, 20-30 minutes is fine. And try to get plenty of rest and fluids. Eventually you will come out of it. At 5 months I finally felt ready to start working out and I haven't looked back since I started. I seriously feel amazing at this point with the increased activity, and every week I am pushing myself a little farther and working to keep my diet in line. It is completely paying off in ways I didn't even imagine. Keep on going. Get that 80+ grams of protein in. Get that 60+ ounces of water in. Do what you can for exercise, but don't beat yourself up.

August Post Ops

Call your surgeon even with what seems like small concerns this early out. They will be able to ask the right questions and give you the right advice far beyond what we can here. Please give their office a call and discuss with them.
20. Bring your own cozy socks/slippers. Other than that, enjoy ALL the drugs lol. You will not care where you are or what you're missing :-).

Protein!

I'm 6 months out and still drink them to supplement my protein intake. Once you're past the first 3 weeks after surgery, it's up to you. Some days I'm just not up to eating all my protein from food, or don't have time.

What ya eating tonight?

Mongolian beef. I think I had a weird reaction to the ginger or something. I was super flushed.

What ya eating tonight?

Almost 6 months. If I buy less tender cuts, I'll admit sometimes I have to rechew. I won't go into further detail on that lol.
24. I was so exhausted from lack of sleep by the time they were prepping me for surgery that I passed out before I made it to the OR and before sedation lol.

What ya eating tonight?

Steak night. Filet. Totally worth it.
