  1. It took me MONTHS to get my energy back. I was asleep in my chair by 8pm most nights. For the first months I was taking almost a three hour nap during the day. Even after the Dr. said it was time to start walking, I didn't have the energy to do so. Now I'm almost 4 months out and I am walking 3-5 miles a day. I now have more energy than I have in DECADES. Give yourself time to heal. As my surgeon put it, this surgery is just under heart surgery in terms of extremes. You will take a long time heal due to the low calories.

  2. I have found that my Bath & Body Works Fragrance Mist works much better than deodorant. I use Secret after my shower but spray my pits before I get dressed. The smell of the Mist doesn't last long but it really help keep the smell at bay. Going Poo-free helped me with my Hair loss. But my hair loss was years ago due to stress. I have been using bar Shampoo from Chagrin Valley or Basin with great success. As for the shakes, I haven't used a shake in months. I get the majority of my protien from dairy (cottage cheese, cheddar and milk).

  3. Not all Hiatal Hernias need fixing. Some are small enough to be left and as the weight is lost, they slip back to their rightful spot. If it is worth being fixed, I believe it is common practice to fix them during the surgery. I have an inguinal hernia and my sergeon is gonna fix it when he does my Tummy Tuck next year.

  4. Mine have totally changed too. I don't know if it's the same but they are squiggily and much lighter in color.

A decade ago when I was on the South Beach Diet mine were always like saw dust.

I figure that my diet has changed enough that they will just be like that from now on. If I eat something high in fat they change. If I eat bread they change.

  5. That helps a lot. Thank you! What Multivitamin do you use? I'm having trouble finding the sublingual B Vitamin. Sorry for all the questions. Just didn't realize how much I still need to do

Are you in Albany? If so the Pharmacist at Hannaford can order you a bottle of the B12 sub's. I can't remember how much they are but it was under $10.

Personally I don't take any Vitamins. My blood work has come back normal. It's not that I don't want to take them, I just forget them so often that I gave up.

  6. It's not hard to get 60 grams a day if you eat each meal and snack. I'm not going to lie. I don't always get all my Protein but getting all my fluids is a bigger problem for me.

A sample of my menu is as follows:

    Breakfast:

4 oz low fat cottage cheese-------13 grams of Protein

    1 Dole pineapple fruit cup

    Snack

8oz skim milk-------8 grams of protein

    lunch

Kashi pizza 1/3---------15 grams of protein

    Snack

    Strawberries

    dinner

6oz Talapia--------32 grams of protein---no way I can finish it

    1/4 C Kashi Pilaf----7 grams

    any mushy veggie

    Dessert

something chocolate like fudgesicle or pudding

Other option I like are Kashi frozen dinners, shrimp, flatout bread with cream cheese or refried Beans

  7. I agree with the fat cells theory. Those first two months were hard. The theory says that your fats cells store fluids, excess hormones and toxins. As they shrink they give off a lot of what they are storing causing a flood of crap your system isn't use to.

Attempt to combat it with keeping yourself hydrated and remember, you are physically going through a HUGE change. Be patient with yourself. And sometimes a good cry can be very cathartic.

  8. If you are taking a multi-Vitamin with Iron I think you are getting your share of Iron. If you aren't taking an iron pill I would suggest waiting till your first blood work to see if you are in need of it.

I am three months out and take no Vitamins. I have no hair loss and I have rocked my blood work. My diet consists of mostly dairy, fruits, and veggies. meats have not been good to me since the surgery so I don't eat too much except in the form of Soups. Oh, and Kashi Pilaf for the added Fiber.
