    Grieving food?

Do you feel that is due to negative physical reaction you had to trying to eat sweets or do you feel your tastes actually changed?
  2. Kashi GoLean Orginial is good too. One cup is a serving with Protien at 13 grams, Fiber at 10 grams, sugar only 9 grams and 160 calories. I asked for a Yogurt maker for Christmas so my daughters and I are going to try our hand at making our own. My youngest is Lactose Intolerant so we are going to try making plain yogurt Lactose free so we can add stuff to it. We found some sugar-free syrups at wal-mart quite cheap.

    February Surgeries

I'm February 11th. It has been a long road but I am excited to be almost there.
  4. Don't sweat the emotional roller coaster. You are not alone. When those fat cells are forced to give up their Water a lot of hormones are released as well. Sometimes you can't even stand yourself it gets so bad. Just acknowledge it and apologize to the people you live with for being a bear. It's totally normal.
  5. I'm trying to figure out how much time I should bank. So could you post how much time you took off and what kind of work you do? I'm a programmer but might end up working in a huge print room due to government cut backs. I work 13 hours shifts three days straight. So how much time did you take and was it enough?
  6. Lumberton and Fayetteville? OMG I'm from Monkey Junction!!! Sure do miss it. But sadly had to move to NY for work. Glad to hear you are in such good spirits so soon after your surgery. Can't wait to hear more about your journey.

    I know stalls...

Mind u I haven't had my RNY yet. I have found when losing weight I sometimes get into a vicious cycle. I didn't lose yesterday so I eat less today. Next day I jump on the scale and OMG I gained half a pound. So I eat less. Next day no loss. Then I get angry and have a sandwich and boom the next day down three pounds. I have come to realize that if I forgo carbs or go under 800 calories in a day I will not be successful. I'm not saying have a sandwich but maybe a V8?

    December Surgeries!?!?!?

Love it. I'm going to WDW next week. And then again next August for Hubbies 50th. I'm hoping for a December surgery. All I have left is my meeting with the Gastro and then my Endoscopy and the insurance. My meeting with Gastro is the day I get back from Disney 10/18. You all keep your fingers crossed for me that I get my Endoscopy scheduled quickly as I think there is a two month out waiting list for surgeries at this point.

    SaFE horizon shelter

Have you looked into moving? Up here in Albany we have Catholic Charties low income housing for families. The low income sections of Albany aren't that bad. Maybe because Albany is so small.

Yoplait greek VS Chobani Greek Yorgurt

At my pre-sugery meeting with the hospital staff they said to get a few Chiobani-Champions. They are the small ones for kids. I'm thinking maybe I will learn how to make my own. It's insanely easy as my mom always did it in the 70's.

Do they all have Sucralose? Now that I have beaten the Soda monster, I don't want to replace it with fake sugar.

    Blueberry Muffin - Minimal Dumping

I don't know if everyone has the same symptoms when it comes to "Dumping". Even though I have not had my surgery yet I have had this happen to me twice i the last two years to me. Since I had my gall bladder removed. I can't remember what I ate the first time but the second time I ate three DumDums over the course of a work day and forgot to eat anyting else. About six hours later I was driving home and the Earth shifted. As I got out of my car and went to walk up to my second floor apartment, the top of my head started to sweat and I could barely get my legs up to climb the stairs. When I got to the kitchen I had a glass of milk and a few slices of lunch meat turkey and sat in a chair for a bit. Because of the missing gall bladder I usually have loose stool if I eat too much or fatty things like pizza. But neither time did I have these issue. I know a lot of folks will say my symptoms were hypogycemia but I have no sugar problems and go many times without eating much longer than that.

    Sad day

I'm so sorry for your loss. That's one of the worst things about having furry children. I hope your heart mends quickly and you can remember all the joy she brought to you. Yep, crying now too. And I haven't lost a pet since 2005.
  15. OK Today is the day I hopefully get my NUT clearance. The mean Wii Fit lady says I'm 238.5 and that's 3.5lbs under what I had to lose. Of course only the Wii Fit lady see me nekked She deserves it. So I need to go find the lightest clothes I own for my weigh in. Wish me luck!!!

  16. One step forward three steps back. He I was thinking I get this weight off by 9/23 and that would be my last clearance. NOPE!!!! Some how Endoscopy appointment slipped through the cracks. And back up two pounds with seven pounds to get off now. So frustrating!!!!

    Surgery in a hour

Good luck to you. Praying for your speedy recovery here.

    Wanna see what was removed?

I didn't think it looked like much either. Then you said the weight. Wholly Cow!!!! Do you feel lighter? OR are areas still swollen from the surgery?
  19. WildGrits

    the scale...

I too commend you. I could never focus on weight loss with out have a close relationship with my scale/Wii Fit. I mean without having my personal time with her every morning, how would I know to feel bad about myself?
  20. OMG!!!!! Hilarious!!! But totally true.
  21. It's easy. You were the fat one. No matter what they could count on you being bigger than them. They could lose or they could gain but they would never be the fat one as long as you held up your part. Now that you have decided to be a healthier you, they see you as not holding up their expectation of you. It's like when people treat you badly for going back to school. "Look at so-and-so thinking they are better than us", people will say. Their problem is not a "you" problem. Some people really hate change. Don't stop being happy about your successes. Only two things can happen, they get over themselves or they don't. And if they don't then you will just find other folks to spend the energy you use to spend on them. Please don't think I was calling YOU fat. I'm just using it as an example.
  22. Mind you I am still Pre-RNY but I have been using shakes for years. A bullet is great for at home and the plastic cup with the wisk ball is good for on the go. The secret to the bullet is to not over fill it. When making shakes, put a bit of ice in then liquid with your powder on top so when you but it on the engine the powder is getting spun first. Before you put the blade lid on make sure you have atleast an inch of air room in it our it will over flow. In the past I was using Medifast so I was use to going months on just packets of shakes. It does get old. I have found I really like the Spiru-tein shakes. You can find them in single serve packets so you can try the different flavors before commiting to a whole can of it. With a cup of Skim milk you are getting about 23g of Protein. No Fiber so you will have to get that elsewhere. Also a ton less sudium then Medifast. I've been having one shake a day as a Meal Replacement and I don't feel deprived.
  23. Could it be Ketosis? Sometimes you get a metal like taste in your mouth. Not to be TMI but I find that when I'm in Ketosis and I use the bathroom it smells like Nail polish remover.
  24. Woohoo!!!! Now 5 pounds to get off. I found a great app for my phone called Monitor Your Weight. I says that if I say under 900 cals a day I'll drop the rest off in two weeks. I would love to be able to change my Nut appointment to sooner.

  25. This is an excellent question. I would love to see more folks chime in. Years ago I had a partial hysterectomy. It was to be Lap but when I woke they ended up doing the opening just above my already C-section bikini scar instead of Lap. I really don't know if I took longer to heal cause I never really felt too bad. I would definately hate to wake up to that again though. Mostly becasue I want to out of the hospital a soon as possible. I hate them cause I get no rest and if you can't rest, you can't heal.
