This is a lesson I learn over and over and over. There's nothing worse than having food stuck trying to get into your pouch.

There is definitely a stall right around 3-5 weeks. Protein wise, Tuna, Chiobani 100's, mashed beans. If you try chicken I would suggest cooking it in a crock-pot so it is very wet. My stomach was so sore every time I ate meat the first few months.

Did they tell you how much the excess skin weighed? -
I too hate shakes. Have you tried getting cottage cheese? When I was stage one my diet was mostly Chiobani 100 yogurt, cottage cheese, creamed soup and milk. I could not choke down the whey products.

I stay thinking about food
WildGrits replied to keeba's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it is liquid form at room tempurature. So Jello, pudding, and SF Popsicles all all considered liquid. Remember to strain the soups. -
sugar free Popsicles really help with nausea. I still use them occasionally for my upset stomach.

I went home with mine. It was removed 9 days after my surgery. I was still bandaging it for a week after that. So 16 days after my surgery I was done with bandaging and all the other incisions were uncovered by then as the tape feel off.

IT might be best to ask your surgeon what level of exercise he/she feels you are ready for. I think walking and lifting dumbbells to help with your upper arms are a good start but it all depends on what is best for your individual situation.

You might have better results to your question if you post in the "Gastric Bypass Surgeons and Hospitals" section.

Extreme fatigue and low energy
WildGrits replied to Sherbear911's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me MONTHS to get my energy back. I was asleep in my chair by 8pm most nights. For the first months I was taking almost a three hour nap during the day. Even after the Dr. said it was time to start walking, I didn't have the energy to do so. Now I'm almost 4 months out and I am walking 3-5 miles a day. I now have more energy than I have in DECADES. Give yourself time to heal. As my surgeon put it, this surgery is just under heart surgery in terms of extremes. You will take a long time heal due to the low calories. -
All I think about now is food... (Worried)...
WildGrits replied to Wayne Hunt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That obsessiveness passes as you get into a routine. Until you reach the last level of your diets when you can have normal food, it's common to constantly think about it. I found just charting my foods on MYFitnessPal helped me to make a daily plan and then I could think less abourt my food. If your dreaming about food, that passes also. -
I have found that my Bath & Body Works Fragrance Mist works much better than deodorant. I use Secret after my shower but spray my pits before I get dressed. The smell of the Mist doesn't last long but it really help keep the smell at bay. Going Poo-free helped me with my hair loss. But my hair loss was years ago due to stress. I have been using bar shampoo from Chagrin Valley or Basin with great success. As for the shakes, I haven't used a shake in months. I get the majority of my protien from dairy (cottage cheese, cheddar and milk).

My puppy Jacques is a Pyrenean Mountain Dog (or a Great Pyrenees). He just turned one and is a great walking companion. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't get my three to five miles in a day.

See Ya on the losers bench. Take good care of yourself and WALK WALK WALK.

Not all Hiatal Hernias need fixing. Some are small enough to be left and as the weight is lost, they slip back to their rightful spot. If it is worth being fixed, I believe it is common practice to fix them during the surgery. I have an inguinal hernia and my sergeon is gonna fix it when he does my tummy tuck next year.
-
It definately will get better. Don't lose hope. With both surgeries you have put your body through a lot. It's gonna take time to recover.

Are you charting your food? Maybe you are under in the carbs area? I use fitness pall to track my food when I slack. But right now I can eyes balls my portions. Are you walking or getting any sorts of exercise? For constipation, are you on a daily regime? Like Miralax every day?
-
Keep us up to date. I will be having this done next year. Love to hear what your Dr. says.

Mine have totally changed too. I don't know if it's the same but they are squiggily and much lighter in color. A decade ago when I was on the South Beach Diet mine were always like saw dust. I figure that my diet has changed enough that they will just be like that from now on. If I eat something high in fat they change. If I eat bread they change.

Snacking or as I like to call "grazing"...
WildGrits replied to Marathongirl's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My Dr never mentioned calories either. Just 60 grams of Protein and over 50 oz of fluids a day. I am between 700-1000 calories a day. -
Are you in Albany? If so the Pharmacist at Hannaford can order you a bottle of the B12 sub's. I can't remember how much they are but it was under $10. Personally I don't take any vitamins. My blood work has come back normal. It's not that I don't want to take them, I just forget them so often that I gave up.
