  1. Glad you found us- i started online here a few weeks ago, really helped me. I went to a bariatric support group first time saturday but this is better for me for now.
  2. I am preop but i LOVE this pureed veggie soup- first steam 1/2 chopped onion, 1 sliced carrot, 3 stalks chopped celery, 1/2 head chopped cauliflower. puree all in food processor til fine, with chicken or vegetable broth.
  3. I saw an Orange Creamsicle Smoothie recipe somewhere in here, does anybody have it? Please send to me- thanks. Adding everything to my recipe inbox.
  4. Whatever happened to Beri-Delicious? Cant find it online ?
  5. Yeah, its a good thing i got my scale too, what i thought was a small portion of turkey turned out to be 3.5 ounces. Guess i need to adjust more. A another thing- i knew it for a while but proved it on the preop diet- bread makes my stomach bloat- and the more i eat bread the more i crave bread. So i gave it up almost completely. Whole grain only once or twice a week, only once slice a day. So when i was doing my "breakup sex" with food (LMAO!) and had ff burgers x5 in last 2 weeks- i thought i gained 10 pounds, but was not nearly as bad as that. I had a boston cream donut and thought "that wasnt as good as i remember" . But unfortunately the Whopper burgers are still fantastic to me. And i always cheated with sugarfree russell stovers chocolate, but those sugar alcohols are no good for my diabetes either. I managed to give up diet pepsi the first 2 months of my counseling. But the nurse practitioner is a tough cookie and scolded me enough to do it. Now It isnt as good as i remember either. Gonna see the doc this week, tell him i am ready now, send in the insurance request for my RNY pleez. Hope my taste buds change re the sweet stuff and the burgers.
  6. IV potassium does burn! I always slow down the potassium and run extra iv Fluid on the side with it so it doesnt burn - it takes longer but the iv site doesnt burn then. (its really the only way to get it in without burning or adding lidocaine, which isnt done in california)
  7. So glad you are feeling better! Thankyou for sharing your experience!
  8. HW 290. CW 250. & preop. GW 150- i really am truly big-boned! 5'9", age 54. Havent been below 220 since age 24. If i ever reach GW I Wont know myself, or how to behave!
  9. Hope all went well for you MGTeacher
  10. Keep your eye on the prize! A chance at a healthy, active, longer life, the admiration of friends and family, the dignity and selfworth you deserve (but may not have always felt entitled to ) Being fat sucks, but remember WE DONT SUCK! (giving myself this peptalk )
  11. Absolutely! I blame my chronic depression initially for my obesity, and then my obesity causes more depression - its the vicious cycle. I will never go off my meds. And to any of your non-supportive spouses or friends-- WHAM! Thats my fryin pan smackin them upside the head. Hope that makes anyone out there feel better.
  12. Ask your regular doctor about fibromyalgia meds- can they be dissolved under your tongue ? Maybe open a caplet to dissolve under your tongue? I am not sure either.
  13. Papaya enzyme is to help digest food that coats and clogs the hole from new stomach to intestine. (anastomosis?) I was reading postops and it sounds very painful - dont want to be stuck without my papaya.
  14. Go online. Or ask your larger grocery store to get some.
  15. Yes that sugar alcohol messes up my diabetes too. Anything with flour sends my blood sugar flying too. Im not supposed to have any fun food- but like i said before, i am a big bad cheater. Maybe dumping syndrome will teach me to behave. Come on insurance.
  16. Hope i didnt offend anyone, i was upset about being made fun of once again. Must have said it wrong. Still ticked off about those bratty stockpersons.
  17. I dont know--- my extra weight gave me a lot of momentum, shot out of the water slide like a cannonball! My mom snorted and laughed so hard... And I am extra bouyant when i snorkel, but gonna need a big paddle board to float on when the seal blubber goes!
  18. Being always hot at work while the skinny girls turn up the heat and complain of being cold. I keep threatening to strip down to my bra and panties. I brought a fan of my own in, its the only thing that makes it tolerable. Ditto ditto ditto to everything else!
