Pure Protein tropical fruit punch clear Water was amazing and the best clear liquid I have ever had. I had my original gastric bypass in 2013 along with a hiatel hernia repair And sept 19th I had to go in and have another hiatel hernia repair with a partial gastrectomy . They put me on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks and I remembered the first time around with this and thankfully there has been so many more tasteful products out there to stay clear but get the protein in . I also use Unjury unflavored protein in my orange juice .

Hi there , I had my surgery in March of 2013 and lost 100lbs in 9 months. I lost so much weight they actually wanted me to gain weight . I am in the same position you are with what I can’t eat but what I can eat isn’t very healthy. People think I’m crazy when I say I can’t eat greens , certain fruits , and meats. You are not alone.

I was at 18 months post op and 9 months consistent with my weight when they did my panilectomy. I definitely recommend getting it down when you are at your goal weight and you have continued to stay the same weight.

I had a panilectomy to remove the extra skin. It was covered by the insurance cause I was getting rashes and lots of UTI’s and yeast infections. It seems weird because of where the extra skin is located but when they pull skin up and pull skin down and cut off the extra skin , it seemed to reduce the amount of UTi and yeast infections

I did 4 weeks so that I was close to the toilet until my body was adjusted to everything and it was the perfect amount of time to see what I could and could not tolerate as far as foods and what would put me in the bathroom. It really is a personal decision but I think your body needs that to recover from a major surgery. I also know it depends on how much your covered financially for missing work. I only got paid 70% while I was out, but it was worth it to come back to work and know that I wouldn’t have to run to the bathroom and have a routine on my meals.

Hi, I am 5'9 and had surgery March 8, 2013. I lost 100 lbs within 9 months. By my 1 year mark I lost a total of 140 lbs. I would definitely suggest tracking using my fitness pal and make sure you are getting your Protein in. I learned in order to lose , I had to eat. It's a hard mindset since eating is what caused me to be 292 lbs. Good luck

Hi,
I am 3 years out from gastric bypass and I still have issues with Water. I drink Powerade zero , Lipton unsweetened ice tea , and use injury unflavored in my orange juice. I wish I could drink more Water but every time I have tried to just drink plain water , it makes me nautious. To some people it sounds strange . I still try , but in small sips. I may get 8 oz of plain water in a day .

Hi, I'm sorry that they denied you and maybe I can help you with your questions...did you go 6 consecutive months ? What is your height and current weight ? What office are you going through ?
-
I am 20 months out and at 1800 calories . I'm 5' 9" and 155 lbs... If I start gaining I just lower my calories but mainly concentrate on getting my Protein in , 80-100 grams a day ...

Congrats... You are right on track and it will be about 3-4 weeks before you might sleep on your side... It will hurt because they do most of the work in the incision on your left side. The pain is normal and Celebrex works wonders for the pain...

It's amazing the relief .... I'm so grateful for the surgery . I'm 20 months out and I'm so glad I did itI am 11 weeks out RNY and not a sign of GERD. Before surgery, I dealt with it daily.

I had the bypass and I feel the restriction ... I was the person that never felt full and could eat and eat. I always ate so I didn't know what it was like to be hungry . Now I know both... Hungry not so much but at least I can tell when I need to eat and when I'm full

Hi my names is Kelly. I had the gastric sleeve done march 2013. I had a hiatel hernia and they stated that the only option I had was the bypass because the lap band has many issues and lots of people end up with complications or going to bypass because they don't lose enough weight . With the bypass , they fixed my hiatel hernia and I lost 100lbs in 9 months ... Didn't have any complications other than a mild ulcer and I do have some foods that I still cannot eat but when it comes down to it . Best decision ...my husband had the gastric sleeve and it helped him tremendously except , u stop losing and your kind of stuck ... He lost 150.00 and still has 90 more to get him to the healthy weight for his height .. He had the surgery 4 years ago ...it all depends on you and what your goal is. Good luck

Hi you would go toThanks for some real world answers! I do want to eat healthy foods and obviously something loaded with fat & sugar isn't healthy, but something packed with chemicals or that tastes like cardboard isn't going to work well for me either. I guess it's all about balance and finding what my new system can handle, what helps keep my weight off and what is healthy for my body overall. That's a lot to juggle! LumpySpacePrincess - the nutrition packet they gave us does list some fat-free/sugar-free diet stuff that I wouldn't call real food at al, such as sugar-free Jello & popsicles, diet juice and fat-free cheese, but I guess I can see how there's benefit for those first few weeks in getting in the liquids & Protein with those when you can't tolerate much else. After that time, I don't see why I would waste my tiny tummy-space with that sort of thing. mamafine23 - how do you add someone to MFP?

I regretted it right after because of all the pain and I literally did not think i would mourn food but I did. It was the Spring and I couldn’t enjoy food and never realized how much of an impact food had on my social life. Needless to say as time went on , it did get better. I had only minor complication of an ulcer and for the most part over the last 5 years it has been ok although having doctors keep you on a Vitamin regimen so that you your not anemic has been a challenge. Over the last year I noticed I was having issues with food getting stuck and throwing up and finally went in for an EGD, turns out I had a hiatel hernia and needed a partial gastrectomy . Had that on 9/19 and I was put on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks. I am so sorry for what you have been going though and for those of you whom had severe complications , I think sometimes it’s all about the surgeon , the support staff , and the follow up the helps us recover. There are also genetic and hereditary factors that are beyond our control. I would so do it again . I started out 5 years ago at 298. I have been maintaining 178 -182 for 2 years . Because of the recent liquid diet, I’m at 170 . Good luck and prayers for everyone
