  2. You could go online to a plastic surgeons website and they usually give averages or even on your health insurance member portal

    Plastic Surgery Question

Hi, yeah I highly recommend documenting everything ... Take pictures of skin issues that you come across because you have to basically prove medical issues resulting from the extra skin ... I am in the same situation and I work for bcbs....the upmc thing is not going to last... The pa dept of ins will stop upmc from denying care due to Highmark being the medical insurer ... Right now it's based on a product which is the community blue , it has lower reimbursement so they don't want to accept it...but it's a lot higher reimbursement than Medicaid ... Hospitals shouldn't be a hospital and medical insurer...

  7. I started this journey on march 8th at 282 and as of today's I am 158.2 I am still glad that I made the choice , although I miss some foods ..I am still limited on what my pouch can handle but I went from a size 22 to a size 10 in pants ...and a size 2x to a medium in shirts.... I finally am starting to feel energy since I have been taking iron supplements along with all the other supplements ... The only downfall is that I have lots of extra skin and my boobs remind me of flapjacks
  8. I still struggle with rice, chicken , and I don't dare try pastas

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I am almost 8 months out... Started this at 282 lbs. I am currently 165.6 lbs. I went to New York and co and almost peed my pants because I fit into a size 10.... I have never ever been in a size 10 and I couldn't see my but fitting in them but apparently my but is smaller than I think....I still see myself as the fat girl in a size 22 that's uncomfortable in their body all the time... It's def a change to get use to but I love the new me....
  12. I was diagnosed with an ulcer which caused me not to be able to handle much and throw up when I did eat... Apparently ulcers are the norm after surgery .... I had an endoscopy and that's how he diagnosed it... Took some meds for 6 weeks and he said I'll have to be on nexium for the rest of my life... It'll be ok.. I hate to say this is normal but it seems normal for us , take care
  13. I used unflavored unjury , I added it to diet hot chocolate , orange juice , and crystal light....I became lactose intolerant after surgery and still am after 7 months so milk is not an option...it's really hard to get water in so don't worry ...I still only get about 20 oz in and that's just recently . You will do great!!!! We are all here for you...

    Feeling down

Aw I'm so sorry ...you need support and not to be yelled at...why are you out of your meds? That's never a good thing... You need them now more than ever... I think I did so much crying the first couple of months from everything I felt like I was missing. It does get better

    Think theres a problem

It's the inevitable with the ulcer , diagnosed 12 weeks after surgery in carafate for 6 weeks to heal the ulcer and then I'm told gotta take nexium for the rest if my life ... It sucks , kind of was hoping for less pills after surgery but I guess it's better than what could've been the outcome if I stayed the way I was going

    Just Starting

I'm 34 years old...I can't remember when I stopped paying attention to the scale, although as I got older it got worse. My highest weight was 292 in August 2012...I stay away from anything that I couldn't stop at one with...I have followed my plan by the book. You have to go in knowing that you will never be able to eat again the way you did before. You also have to realize that even though you may be able to eat it, doesn't mean you should. Somehow we all got ourselves to the point that we needed to take the drastic decision of wls. Take muralax when you get home from the hospital. Our body's go through such changes that although we aren't eating real food after the surgery , we still need to have a bowel movement. Have the doctor order Celebrex for the pain after ...helps with the tugging pain you will feel in your side ... I became lactose intolerant after the surgery. I had severe dumping from any juice. When i came home I had Quaker oats perfect portion cinnamon oatmeal and uses Splenda to sweeten it , chicken broth ,jello , and sugar free pops. Pay attention to your body, if something doesn't feel right , call your dr...don't take any chances ...good luck
