    "Diet" foods vs. real foods

I am 18 months out and the no sugar and fat free after surgery is so that your body heals ... Your body doesn't work the same after surgery and if you eat something or drink something that has high in fat and sugar it could cause dumping and lots of pain... Stick with the sugar free and fat free for the first 2 months and then you can start adding it back in with moderation ... You will realize soon enough if you took in too much sugar because the side effects are dumping , suds, and severe nausea ...I'm on my fitness pal if u want to add me , take care

My husband had the sleeve and had the gerd after ...I had severe gerd before and had gastric bypass and no more gerd... So glad I made the decision.

    Need some ideas! Please!

Hi, I'm bi polar as well. I have been on lamictal and sertraline for 7 years. I have had some episodes since having the gastric bypass and I know it's because my meds are not being absorbed the way they use to. My dr said to split up my meds. I use to take them all at night. I take half dosage in the morning and half at night. It seems to help.

Foods that make you barf! Literally.

Chicken and broccoli with pork fried rice... The only chinese food I like but broccoli makes me sick...I had the foamies the two times I tried it...no pizza - wouldn't try it , chicken makes me uncomfortable , ice cream makes me nautious , living on salads , tuna fish , and nuts ... Practically a vegetarian not by choice ...in the end it's still worth it ...we will all get through it

    Post Op March 2014

It gets better.... It took me several months before I could get my protein in.... The water is another issue... I may get 20 oz of water , 20 oz ice tea, and I cup of oj with my unjury unflavored protein
  10. It's normal... Your body went through major surgery and you'll probably sleep a lot ....I was exhausted the first 3 months ....just make sure to get all your vitamins and protein and the palpitations are normal as well... It gets worse before it gets better but worth it

    Bumpy Road but making progress

Make sure you have them because if you end up in pain and hunched over , more than likely you need to release ...I didn't have one till 4 weeks after my surgery and I thought it was normal since I wasn't eating really food... I was wrong ...muralax in your drink does the trick if you don't go for a few days

    Muscle aches?

I've noticed the same ...if anyone has and information , it would be appreciated

    And it begins!

See if they will take your gallbladder out at the same time...most people I know had to get it removed 3 months out from their surgery
  14. For hair loss , it is normal and it does come back ... I lost some at 3 months out and it came back at 9 months out from my surgery ... Make sure you are getting all your vitamins and add Biotin to your daily intake of vitamins ... Another thing that helps with the protein is unflavored unjury and you can mix it in everything but water ...

Hit the 100+ pounds lost today

Popsicles... It sounds like it won't taste as good as everything else but it helps... The first 8 weeks were the hardest and I think I cried everyday because everyone could eat such delicious meals and I was stuck with shakes , soup, and oatmeal...
  16. It's based a lot on pros a and cons.... I wasn't a candidate for sleeve because I wasn't fat enough under my insurance ...my husband had the sleeve and he lost 150 lbs but then it just stopped... The bypass is more restrictive and works better for long term success from what I hear... I had the bypass March of 2013 and losr 100 lbs in 9 months ... Not going to lie, I thought I knew what restrictive was until I actually went through it...I needed the side effects that you can have if you get into the bad habits that got you into the situation the first time ...I have learned a lot about myself and the relationship that food had over me....you will see a lot of pros and cons for the bypass and sleeve but you got to look at what you really need....It's only a tool and the hard work still comes from us...good luck
  17. Ladies , please don't worry ... It will pass.. The surgery is a blessing but before it's better , it gets worse ... It's hard in the first few months ... The pain can come from dehydration , constipation , etc...it's frustrating since you don't know what normal and what is...I maybe got 8 oz of water in my first few months...it's skit of juggling ...some things will go down fine one day and the next day if could hurt;(

  19. I had my bypass on March 8,2014. My heighest weight was 292. The day of my surgery I was 282lbs. My current weight is 148.2 lbs... It was hard in the beginning and I regretted it for the first few weeks because I never realized what a hold that food had on me...I was jealous that everyone could eat what they wanted and I was left with shakes and baby food...I went through some depression and anger but it only lasted a short time... This was the best decision I have ever made and I love my new life with my family .

    Waiting on Insurance Approval!

Congratulations on your decision it is life changing and for me the best decision I could've made. I had mine in march 2013 and lost 132 lbs...I have 4 daughters and I wanted to be around for them . It is not easy in the beginning and you will go through a lot of emotions but in the long run you will be so much happier and healthier..there are a lot of good forums and chats here. U will also see some sad stories..please know there are risks for everything ....do as much research before your big day and follow your drs plan

    emotional wreck

It gets worse but then it gets better ...there's nothing wrong with getting some help and meds to level yourself out...in fact maybe you just need a progesterone shot ... We look forward for this surgery and have all the expectations of a better life but it doesn't happen right away and when things happen that's outside our control it can bring us more down ...I'm sorry for what your going through but it will get better ....we are all here for you
