1. Ellen, Hi - you emailed me and I didn't know how to respond via this site until I saw your 'Contraband' name here. How are you doing? I feel good. The first week was very sore/painful. Can eat almost anything - staying away from meat. Finally am getting 'regular' with the help of Benefiber per doctor's instructions. First fill in 9/11/07. Excited to lose weight. Take care and wish you well.

    Today's weight: 215 as of 8/07/07

    Goal weight: 140 lbs. (Exciting)

  3. Hi everyone! Interesting discussion, however I prefer to get off all types of medications - suppresants included. The lapband will do it's job just let it. I had the Lapband because I have weight related Diabetes. Had the Lapband 7/24/07. Have lost 18 lbs since starting pre-op diet. AND, now am off Glipizide for the Diabetes. My sugar levels are between 78 and 85, which is right where it should be. My advice to everyone is have patience and let your lapband work for you and listen to your surgeon. I'm very happy I have the Lapband.

Question: I get responses and receive them via my email. How do I respond to those who are responding to me. Getting to now this site. Thank you. Debra

  4. Kelli, hi there! I, too had my Lapband Surgery on July 24. I started the high-protein food supplements supplied by my doctor on 7/13. I have lost 18 pounds! Saw my surgeon on 8/03 says I'm doing fine and that he will do my first fill in four weeks. I'm surprised that you're getting you're fill so soon after surgery. I went to Michigan Medical, PC Weight Loss Center (Center of Excellence) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Surgeon is Dr. Randall Baker. I believe studies have found that the Lapband is more successful waiting for six weeks to have first fill. You might want to wait till then. Oh, my surgeon said that weeks 2-6 will be the most difficult losing wait with the Lapband because the stomach swelling has gone down from surgery and that their is no restriction until the first fill where I will then have the 'full' feeling to again start losing more weight. Yes, I feel hungry, too - which is normal for right now. You might want to call MMPC (Michigan Medical) in Grand Rapids to inquire about when and why they wait 6 weeks to do the first fill. Better to be safe and wise. Take care and wish you the best.

  7.
Hello. I just had my lapband surgery July 24. I started a liquid diet provided to me by my doctor's office and still am on it. My next appointment with my surgeon if Friday, August 3. At this appointment I will meet with my surgeon at 8:30 a.m. and the dietician at 9:00 a.m. at which point will be told what REAL food I can start eating. Doesn't your surgeon provide a high-protein food supplement for you before and after your surgery? I would ask. 8. Hi Suzie! I just had my Lapband Surgery on July 24 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I identify with everything you are feeling about restriction. I see my surgeon this Friday and will be able to share more after that appointment. I was 232 lbs. (5'7" Heighth) since 7/13/07 have lost 18 lbs. on high-protein supplements. The supplements do keep me full. I do get hungry, but then have a supplement - Tomato Soup or crm of chicken, hot chocolate, pudding and orange/fruitpassion drink. I feel better after I burp up air after I eat alittle. Then, find can eat alittle more. Wish you well. Sounds like you're right on track.

  9. :ranger:Hello! I just had Lapband surgery 7/24/07 and have lost 18 lbs. I started the high-protein supplements on 7/13/07 so it's been just over two weeks since I started this process. It is so exciting to be losing weight. I will have my first fill in 5 weeks. I feel restriction and am satisfied on the liquid supplements. Will be meeting with my doctor and dietician this coming Friday. Will start real food then, but I don't think I will be eating much since I feel restriction. Which is a very good thing. Wish everyone well.

  10. Vicky, how are you doing? I had my Lapband Surgery on 7/24/07. I'm sore, but getting better daily. Since 7/13 when put on special high-protein food supplements I now have lost 15 lbs, which I think is great. Had to see Dr. on 7/26 for infection at port wound site, but that is now clearing with the two antibiotics he prescribed. Would like to know how you are doing. Talk with you soon, Debra

  11.
Hello. I just had my Lapband Surgery Tuesday, 7/24/07. I was on a high-protein food supplement program since 7/13/07. As of today I have lost 15 lbs (since 7/13/07) - very happy. I'm also sore from surgery. Will be taking off two weeks from work. Hopefully will be feeling better next week. I had Dr. Randall Baker at MMPC in Grand Rapids, Michigan do my surgery. He is excellent. In fact, it is known for being the 'Center of Excellence'. Is best in Michigan. Highly recommend MMPC - Grand Rapids, Michigan. Note: I need to lose 85 more pounds to reach goal.
