  3. Well I had my surgery on August 19th! So just under 6 weeks I have lost 48 pounds! I'm pretty excited about this! I had my post op appointment and I was cleared to finally head back to the gym! My blood work came back and said I need a little Iron and Vitamin D, so will be starting that soon! I have only had 1 dumping phase since surgery! I never felt pain or have had to take any pain reliever since surgery! My incisions are gone! I had a reality check on how important it is to keep your fluids up, I went swimming at the gym one day and didn't realize I was dehydrated and ended up passing out in the locker room and riding in an ambulance to the emergency room because I didn't keep my fluids up! I'm now getting about 80 oz average in fluids a day, some days are tough and I'm only able to get 42 oz in! I never struggled with gas issues or getting it stuck anywhere. Everything taste super sweet to me so I've only been drinking Water since my surgery! I haven't noticed any taste change but I have craved odd combinations I usually wouldn't ever consider. I have experienced my skin is a lot softer now, and sometimes my legs feel restless. I haven't had increased energy yet like everyone talks about, or an increased sex drive lol.. My safe, go to food is bananas! If I'm having an off day, or not really hungry but need to eat then I will have a banana. So that's an update on my first 5 1/2 weeks! Good luck to everyone

    Hey guys

Thank you very much for your post! I was wondering of I should start doubting myself! Really... You said the words better than I could come up with! Explained it perfectly! I really don't understand where everyone else is coming from.. I'm happy with Dr. Graber and the entire team! Thank you! Congrats on you and your husbands progress! May I ask where your from? Not too many people on here are local.

    Hey guys

Our surgeon is Dr. William Graber and he is one of the best! He has made medical journals, and has many awards! No other surgeon in our area is that good! He has many successful stories! This is his story!! (Quote) Our comprehensive program has successfully met the highest standards set forth by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and is recognized as an ASMBS Center of Excellence. In 2011 HealthGrades rated us #1 in NYS for bariatric surgery! Faxton-St. Luke's Hospital in association with William A. Graber, MD, PC - Weight Loss Surgery Again this is our menu I think I'm doing pretty remarkable considering I lost 41 pounds in 4 weeks! My nutritionist works with my surgeon so I don't think talking to her would change anything since they are the ones who make the diet sheet up! I will apologize, but I truly trust our surgeon 100% and I have talked to many of his patients who several years later are doing amazing!!! I have no doubts at all about him or his decisions. Thank y'all though for you concern. best of luck on everyone's journey! Also thank you for your wishes

    Hey guys

thank you very much! Thank You everyone! I don't even know what the "norm" is for weight loss in the first month but I'm very happy! Our dr doesn't require Protein until week 7! They say it's nice if you can get it in before hand, but to just focus on fluids the most because most people end up in the er for dehydration! I know, I was one of them lol! I passed out at the gym after swimming, it was horrible!!
  9. Tina727

    Hey guys

That's true! But I don't think it was fair nor very nice from "Turn the page" with her comment "it sounds like your setting yourself up for failure" I'm down 41 pounds in just 4 weeks!!! I posted our diet sheet and I know I'm doing exactly what I'm supposed to do! Isn't this about supporting one another not shouting out negative remarks? I think I'm doing damn good and that comment hurt!!
  10. Tina727

    Hey guys

  11. My surgery was 8/19 and I was off to a great start! I was getting all my fluids in, and doing the tsp of cottage cheese 3x a day then the week came where you need I increase your foods to more solids and work your way up to 1/4 - 1/2 cup over the next couple weeks. well so far I can not do toast, or eggs, or tuna.. I'm struggling with options This is the diet were supposed to follow. I can't seem do advance past yogurt and bananas.. I have eaten laughing cow cream cheese just fine, I have also has a few bites of pickles just fine, but everything else is tough. also I'm barely getting in 40oz of liquid. Is anyone else struggling like this? My wife had surgery the same day as I, and she's doing great! She can not however tolerate eggs, or macaroni n cheese.
  12. Tina727

    Pizza?

my surgery was the 19th and I actually cheated and had a wedge of a personal pan pizza and tolerated it well but felt very full! I haven't had any pain, nausea, or dumping since surgery! fluids are steady at around 60 oz now.
  13. well so far here is my story. day of surgery was major pain! went home the second day and felt incredible! cleaned the house and did 6 loads of laundry! stripped beds n remade them, took a real shower and felt rejuvenated! I literately can't even see my incisions anymore. Today I got to soak in our garden tub! Never got gas trapped in my shoulder or anywhere else. actually didn't have any problems with gas at all! Bowl movements are everyday and normal and don't stink like everyone says. Fluids are coming along, most days 60 oz, slow days are 40oz. Not doing protein shakes, our surgeon doesn't require it, they just want us to stick with fluids. Cottage cheese went well, yogurt went well, apple sauce was amazing, and even cheated a little with flaked broiled haddock, and scrambled egg.. my pouch was super happy! no dumping or pain. I'm finally sleeping through the night, on my tummy at that, found vitamins I can tolerate (took all the orange out if the Flintstones) My pouch like the orange lol! Wish we had a scale I am so curious to know. can't see a physical change yet, but do notice my boobs seem extra heavy ughhhhh. so that's my story so far oh ya were also in the process of moving so been packing all day today lol

    Concerns

I found a raspberry green tea crystal light that I love! it's not too sweet, and taste wonderful! I'm not a huge crystal light drinker either.

    August 2013 surgeries

well I'm thankful for my surgeon! A ton of post op patients return to the hospital for dehydration because they can't keep up on fluids. my surgeon does NOT require protein shakes, they just want you to keep fluids up to prevent dehydration. Protein will come in time they say when you start eating. As long as your going pee and it's not dark in color your good. they want at least 64 oz of fluid in and were doing almost that!!
  16. Tina727

    ok big question

I have read everywhere that beef jerky after surgery is great because its high in protein, low in calories, and almost no fat.. I have never eaten it before so I thought I would try it!!! omg how is this good after surgery??? It's tough! Doesn't or won't it get stuck in your pouch! please help me comprehend this! I felt like I was eating clams lol
  17. Tina727

    What ya eating tonight?

here's a bizarre question.. has any one eaten anything there not supposed to have and instead of swallowing it, spit it out? you know just chew it up for the flavor, then spit it out when cravings hit?

    August Surgery List complete

My wife and I both have our surgery tomorrow! We have to be at the hospital at 6am. Please keep us in your prayers. will update as soon as we can. thank you everyone for your support.
  19. Question- Has anyone who has already had surgery had a cold or been sick on the day of surgery? If so, do they still perform the procedure? I have a stuffy nose and its also runny. today is day 2, been up all night cause of it blahhhhh
  20. no infection.. drainage is clear, just congested in my nose. lungs are great, ears are great, and throat is fine. no cough. Taking Emergen-C, getting rest, and decongestant, and Vitamin C drops! Have the humidifier going as well! I feel fine actually. don't feel run down or lack of energy at all. just cant breathe and taste is a tad off. I think I should be ok by Monday. that's still a bit always and your body can perform wonders in a 24 hr period.
