  1. Oh no Megster. Sorry to hear that. Do you workout or do sit ups? I read somewhere that we're not suppose to do stomach exercises for the first 6-12 months. It increases the chance for the port to flip. One girl on this site said her doctor manipulated her port to flip it back in place??? Sounds painful. I can't wait to ask the doctor in 2 weeks what my "feeling" is from.

  2. Hi Dorianna,

I'm in Fort Lauderdale. Your results are fantastic. I'm going for my third fill in two weeks. Right now I'm in need of a fill. In the last month I only lost one pound. Over the last two weeks I've noticed I started getting larger portions and too many Snacks that slip through so easily. But I love my band.

My sister got her band about 2 years ago. She has been very successful with it. She's only 10 pounds from her goal (125).

  3. I just called the doctor and scheduled a fill. The appointment is not till March 4th. I'll ask him about the mystery left side feeling. The past week I've noticed I can eat larger portions or find myself going back to put a little bit more on my plate. Not good. Today is my seven month anniversary and I only lost 2lbs in the last four weeks. Bummer.

What is your lipase level? I've never heard of it. Do you think your level is off because maybe our stomachs don't have the same level of stomach acids to digest food in the upper pouch? I've always wondered how the stomach acids are affected by having a small upper pouch.

  4. The feeling is right at the edge of my rib cage. From the center of my body at the bra line. It is 2 1/2-3" down and 2 1/2-3" to the left. Maybe something is swollen in the area? I sneeze daily and they are usually pretty forceful. I don't know if something is slightly out of place???? Is it normal to feel like something is in there at times when you move certain ways?

  5. I have been banded for six months. I first noticed this uncomfortable feeling in my left rib area after surgery when I put my leg up to shave. It's the area right below where my bra sits. If I straighten out my posture or body it seems to go away. I cut all the wires from my underwire bra and still find myself moving my bra off my skin in that area. It's not painful, just uncomfortable sometimes. My port is a few inches away from the "mystery" area.

I don't have a problem with reflux. Do other people experience this? I find myself often straightening up my posture and moving my bra. Weird. What is it?

  6. Hi Sonya,

I was just sitting on the sidelines (as usual) until I saw your all to familiar discomfort. I have had that pinching almost since day 1. When the NP asks whether I have any pain, I mention the port-pain and she chuckles. I have lately noticed that with my lower weight, it has almost completely gone away. I have probably jinksed (sp) myself and will be in constant port pain....naaa. Anyway, just an observation.

    Now, back to my sideline.

    Car

    Hi Car,

I'm like you on the sidelines. I always read what's going on but don't post that often. I think next time I go for a fill I'll ask him to do it under fluro just to check things out. My first fill was under floro. The second was not. Glad your pain has almost disappeared. I get nervous when I feel that discomfort thinking something is messed up in there. My last fill was 15 weeks ago. At the second fill I reached good restriction. It has loosened up. I've lost 24 pounds since my last fill. I'll need to schedule another one soon.

    Thanks for posting.

  7. I'm having an uncomfortable feeling about a inch below my bra line where i think the band is. If I straighten my posture and/or lift my bra off that spot it seems to go away. My port is about 4-5 inches away from the uncomfortable spot. I don't have acid reflux or pain at my strenum. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this feeling. I hope my band did not slip. Thanks

  8. Sonya - are you talking about your band or your port - sometime if I am slouching I will get a pinch feeling - but readjust by sitting up and am ok - my port is about 3 or 4 inches below my bra - I have been noticing pinch feeling when i bend over to put my tennies on - but its on the right side by my liver - like scar tissue straining - we that's what I put it off to...

The uncomfortable feeling is coming from my band right below my bra line. I ripped out all the wires from my underwire bras but still get that feeling when I slouch. My port is about 5 inches away. It's not coming from that area. When I'm out with friends or in public I catch myself wanting to "lift" my boob or pull my bra off that spot when I slouch. Guess I need to work on my posture. I never liked standing up straight because I didn't like my boobs sticking out. I know it sounds crazy. They are a D now but getting smaller.

Well we do look better and thinner when we have good posture.

  9. Good Afternoon Everyone,

Does anyone ever get an uncomfortable feeling under their left boob?

I'm guessing that is where the band is. I notice it most if I wear a bra that does not have good support. I usually straighten up my posture and adjust my bra and it goes away. Just wondering if it is normal for others to get this feeling sometimes.

    Thanks,

    Sonya

  10. I was banded in Mexico by dr. verboonen in July and have nothing but positive things to say about him and his staff. My sister was banded by him a year before me by dr. verboonen and my aunt was banded by him three years ago. All success stories. If anyone is inquiring about having surgery with Dr. verboonen and would like to ask me about my experience please feel free to ask me.

    Have a wonderful day everyone.

  11. I had restriction the first 2 weeks after my fill and now I can eat a house I think its time for another one:lol:

I was the same way after my second fill. The first 2 weeks were fine. Then I would eat anything. Since my third fill (3 months ago) my restriction has been good. Sometimes tighter than I'd like. But I think it's more head hunger than real hunger. I'm finally getting use to putting small amounts of food on my plate and being satisfied. Don't get me wrong, I have my days when my head tells my I could eat the house but my stomach says NO. You'll feel much better after your next fill.

  12. Thank you Janet! It's always nice to hear someone has noticed because sometimes its hard to tell yourself. I went in for my 4th fill last week and I am FINALLY feeling restriction. I am so excited. (i have one of those dr's who will only let you come in to get a fill every 6 weeks) so its been a slow process. Sometimes I get really discouraged because I see everyone who has lost 60, 70 pounds and im not losing that fast. But it does feel good to hear someone can see a difference. LoL Hopefully now that i have some restriction the pounds will start falling off! haha! I still dont feel tight, but maybe in another 5 weeks! agh... my dr. is so conservative! LoL Have a good day everyone!

Don't get discouraged. I'm down 45 pounds and very happy with my results. I'm averaging 1.6 pounds a week which is a healthy rate.

  13. Hi all South Florida Bandsters!

Good to know that there are a few of us out there using this forum! I just found out that they moved my surgery date up by 4 days so I will be banded Jan 25! Can't wait. That makes me four days closer to my goal and a new life. I have been doing the pre-op diet and sticking too it quite well. 14 pds in a week. Wouldn't it be nice it the weight just flew off like that! Just don't think so though!!! I will be happy with a couple pounds a week! Take care you all.

    diane

Congratulations Diane! Let us know how you're doing after surgery. I'm excited for you.

It's so great to get rid of clothes that you know you will never fit in again. If we can get a group of us together, we could do clothing swaps and share stories.

  14. How many fills have you had i was banded in june 07 and stuck at

30 lbs. i have only had one succesful fill thanks joyce2525

Hi Joyce, I was banded in July. For about the first two weeks I wasn't hungry and could not eat that much. I lost 7.5 pounds the first week. Then the second week I would eat more. The third week i could eat anything. My first fill was about 6 weeks from surgery date. I lost 14.5 pounds before the first fill. I only lost 8.5 pounds between the first and second fill (for 2 months). I knew it was time for my third fill when I could eat two pieces of pizza. Wow what a difference on the amount of food I can eat now. I received my third fill at the end of October - 3 months post surgery. I've lost 22 pounds since my third fill for a total of 45 pounds.

I really needed that third fill. I still have to watch out for my liquid caloires and things that are easy to go down. ie.. crackers, cheese, Cookies, chips, ice cream, shakes. From Thanksgiving to Christmas the scale didn't move. There were so many treats and parties. I don't mind that the scale didn't move. Pre-band I'm sure my weight would have went up.

It sounds like it's time for you to get another fill. Are you writing down what you are eating and adding up your calories?

  15. I'm so excited. I finally past the 40 pound mark. Yeah! I'm averaging about 1.6 lbs a week which I think I great. I'm happy about my weight loss.

Yesterday I was able to fit into some of my XL's that I haven't worn in a long time. I'm glad the holidays are over and the sweets and liquid calories are gone. For Christmas a friend gave me a year membership to Bally's. So now I can work on weights in addition to my bike riding. A few years ago, I was an avid bike rider. Recently I started riding started riding again. My goal for the new year is to get back to riding 60-75 miles a week (15 miles a day) and do weights at the gym 3 days a week.

  16. There are doctors in the US that will perform fills on the Midband. My surgeon from Mexico referred me to a doctor locally to do my fills. Fill center USA will not do fills on the Midband because it is not FDA approved yet. It's a great band. My band doctor has the Midband, so does my aunt and sister. Wonderful results and no complications.

    Good luck.
