  1. Today started out brilliantly ,did my 51/2 miles drink 60 gm of Protein and was just relaxing on the couch when I got a call from a number I didn't recognize, I usually just ignore ,but today I answered and now I can't stop crying ,I feel so sad , so helpless , so angry!! It's so surreal it's cant be true , my best friend for 31 years the person I just spoke ,to ,who had made plans to see and hang out with when I leave for Seattle this summer has died....... My friend Ethel the one person who has been there for me through thick and thin ,has died of an brain aneurysm ,she's gone I'll never see her face and hear her laughing ,I'm angry as hell !! We weren't finished ,we had so much more to do , to say , to experience !! We were suppose to grow old together rocking on the front porches with our grand kids and husbands, she has four grand kids to my zero , i will fly to Seattle next week to be with my dear friend one last time I miss her like crazy already my world is forever changed . RIP Ethel my true dear friend what will I do without? ;(

  2. Headaches suck. I've never had a migraine' date=' I hear they're horrible. Hope you feel better soon.

I LOVE cutting the grass. When I was a child we never had a yard, so when I got married and we bought our first home I really got into the yard. As an added bonus, when I was cutting grass the kids weren't allowed to bother me unless it was an emergency, so mowing grass was as close as I got to 'quiet time'. My husband is the only man in the neighborhood who has a grass-cutting wife. He's the envy of every man on the street! :-) :-)[/quote']

I use to love mowing ,but when we moved to Montana hubby bought a tractor and a riding lawn mower to take care of our 40 acres I wasn't going to cut it anymore ,not with bears , mountain lions and deer everywhere I'm a city girl to darn scary in the Lolo national forest!!! Anyone remember "a river runs through it" that's where we lived in the bitterroot. Now down here in Texass we're on just an acre but he still has the rider, but I still love the smell of fresh cut grass ,smells like watermelon to me ;)

  3. Wow!! What a difference losing 113 pounds can make!! This theme park experience was so different from before!! Last time I was publicly humiliated when I couldn't fit in the roller coaster. I was just crushed. This time' date=' I rode every ride possible!! I fit comfortably in every ride we went on and had the time of my life!! I had energy all day long to walk the park. I still want to lose quite a bit more, but I finally feel like I can be free and just live again!! I am overjoyed!!! Oh, and another NSV, I went to a Cardinals baseball store and was actually able to purchase a women's cardinals tank top! I usually have to buy the men's size shirt because the women's just do not fit in that type of official sports shirt. I was very happy to be able to buy a girly Cardinals shirt instead of a baggy men's style![/quote']

Sounds like you had the time of your life !! Good for you

  4. Could it just be the insides healing? My incisions periodically itch or hurt' date=' but the hurt is inside - more like twinges of pain that pass quickly. I just figured it for the healing process.[/quote']

No ,it's a pulled stitch really really hurts ,I'm guessing I pulled it when putting away the linen s pulled to hard on the door !!! Didn't hurt right away but ouch it hurt like heck now ,who knew ...... I can still walk tho yay!;)

    Welcome !!

I'm just 15 days post op but I can tell you my journey so far stayed in hospital overnight didnt have pain in hospital first four days home was painful only because I didn't take my meds. Oh but I learn fast .those four days I wasn't hungry,or thirsty. I had a drain didn't hurt at all one week post op I got the drain taken out, didnt hurt at all it tickled and it was long!! Nine days out I was walking the trail with my buddy two week post op feeling fine incisions are completely heal and no pain stage two of diet going well,Saturday after walking and working in the garden ,this strange hot stabbing sharp pain started about 8:00 pm it got so bad I could only take a step or two took the liquid med from my surgery plugged in my heating pad got a pillow for my left side ,about a minute later I was asleep, but damn that pain was something I never want to feel again.so yes there will be good and bad days, make sure you're getting all the nutrients you need, you want to be thin and healthy ,not thin and sickly. Congratulations on your weight loss.

  8. The closest costco is in Stoughton MA. I'm bored this week' date=' maybe I'll take a drive up there. What kind of place is it? :-)[/quote']

costco? It's a giant warehouse with everything you can imagine in it but in bulk, electronics, food, clothing, wine, beer, fresh seafood, pastry dept. ,gas station, tires dept, gearing, eyeglasses, furniture, plants, pharmacy, pet supplies outdoor patio stuff, also a ice parlor and restaurant . All costco are not created equal I've been to several in different states, but the ones in the Pacfic Northwest where the headquarter is located is the creme' de la creme' . Here where I live in texas is pretty grand too. Just be prepared to spend more than you thought lol

  9. I'm so afraid of over eating. I was released to have 2-3 oz of soft food 3x a day. However I think I ate may 4-4 1/2 oz. I'm afraid of this becoming a habbit. Do I just need to have more control? It didn't make me sick but I'm really full' date=' or is this normal? Was anyone else like this in the beginning and were you still able to have a successful weight loss? Thanks in advance.[/quote']

I'm 16 days out , not hungry but I must eat to lose so I weigh my food ,so I don't have to guess I first weigh the plate or bowl empty and then I put the food inthe plate and weigh it again .

  10. Sounds like something worth asking your doctor about' date=' even though it sounds like a non-emergency. They would be able to tell you if it's something to be concerned about or if there were other signs of possible problems to look for. You're not that far out and that is what they are there for.

Aside from that it sounds like you are doing awesome! I'm having trouble getting all my fluids... and Protein? I'm not even close on that! The taste of the powder, or even the THOUGHT of the powder, is grossing me out. I'm finding food smells pretty unappealing right now, too. How are you getting all your Protein? [/quote']

Thanks you , Yes I'm going to call the Dr. on Monday , I buy premier Protein shakes from costco it's ready made 16.7 oz 30 gm. individual drinks, I just put them in the freezer for 15 minutes before drinking them ,I do two at a time , pour them in my mason jar and drink it. I don't have a problem getting at down it takes a while but I know how much protein I've drank ,the last Protein Drink it at 9:00pm they don't taste bad at all now, at first it was a little sweet ( not a sweet person) I adjust the taste by diluting it with ice,I know what you mean about the powder,I have a really bad gag reflux I just can't swallow it , tried failed moved on. Try Premier Protein shakes chocolate & vanilla only favors tho. Thanks again ;)

  11. Ok I need some help, I'm 16 days post op incisions and healed, walking everyday, off liquids as of Friday ,cleared to do arm&leg workouts,I drink 60-90 OSS of Protein, and 5 23 oz of Water, plus Popsicles, cottage cheese and stuff,so I'm doing everything I'm suppose to do, but for the last two days the pain of my left side returns every now and again.it started after Thursday, after I finished my walk felt like something inside had dropped and hanging,no very little pain on Friday when I finished walking.but yesterday evening the pain was so intense ,but not constant .if I took a step it hurt if I moved a certain way pain ,it's seemed really deep inside, nothing like the pain from the surgery.im having regular BM, does anyone have a clue to what this pain MIGHT be,? I'm open to all suggestions .... Oh right now no pain soooooo strange ;(

  12. Oooh after reading all the posts about pain' date=' im alittle more nervous. Guess i need to research more as i didnt think about having pain after the surgery...heck im dealing with so much pain pre surgery, i was hoping pain would go away post sur. Ughhhh... But im still gonna do it no matter what.[/quote']

Just stay ahead of your pain ,take your meds, they're your new best friend ;)

  13. Today I am sooo thinking about food. I want some food. I have to have food. I want to chew something a million times and swallow...ANYTHING!!! I had surgery Tuesday. Anyone ever eaten before time?

    Surgery: May 9, 2013

I think your surgeon is insane !! I'm 15 days out went to Dr. Yesterday absolutely no abdomen exercise whatsoever not until I see him in six weeks ,I'm clear for arms and legs . If it doesn't feel right don't do it.

  16. I had buffalo burger with mustard, low sugar pickle relish, reduced sugar ketchup and romain lettuce on a wheat flat bun .had four bites, tasted exceptional , the fourth bite I started to feel weird, not sick no pain but a feeling I never experience before. I wrapped my burger and put it in the fridge, talked to my hubby about the incident, got a bottle of Water and went to bed , and slept like a well fed baby, now time to walk walk walk today it's 5.6 miles then arm and leg workout

Oh I hope so, I'm just 12 days post op but its one of my all time favorite snack, and it's will be one of the first questions I ask Dr. On Friday .

  19. Hi all. Someone who is 2 years post op gave me this tip that I thought was pretty cool' date=' so I thought I'd share it. She said that when you go eat out and get a to go box for a later meal, DO NOT reheat the Protein. Protein apparently changes as it is reheated, and it can become too hard to chew or digest. She said it would get stuck for her a bunch and cause a lot of pain. It was something I hadn't thought about...I was actually looking forward to having leftovers. :-)[/quote']

A quick and foolproof way to reheat meat fish bread or veggies and retain the moistness and texture is to cover plate with a bowl, it's that simple, I've been reheating this way for years alway tender and moist. Please be careful, the bowl will have trapped steam in it ,so always a have dish towel or glove on when lifting the bowl off the plate, hope this helps.
