    I was self pay and also went to Mexico. The doctors in Mexico have more experience with the lap-band. The band has only been FDA approved since 2001 and many of the surgeons here in the US only have about 3yrs or less of experience. I payed $7,900.00 and that included everything except my airfare from my home state. My surgeon was Dr. Arturo Rodriguez here is a link to his website if you are interested

    I received my halloween gift on Friday the 13th. I don't know where to begin. First I have to give a BIG THANK YOU to Boo Boo Kitty. You where so thoughtful. I loved everything.

    I received...

    Pedicure set, 2" pilar candy corn candle, ceramic pumkin, fall stuffed scare crow, pumkin sponge, green tea cucumber bath caviar & shower gel, a few treats (small suckers) and halloween themed plastic rings.

    I don't know how you did it. You included everything I would have picked out if we would have went shopping together. That just amazing to me!

    I donated the majority of my clothes to an abused womens shelter. I also had alot of my nicer clothing altered. I found a lady in my neigborhood by accident who sews wedding, prom, & bridesmaids dressses. I had her take in a lot of my work clothes. New wardrobe for about $3-$4 an alteration.

    I recommend this especially during the first year when the weight is coming off and sizes are dropping monthly.

    I have recently had a J &J band done in Aug. I have lost 14 lbs. and have stopped. I have lost nothing in the past 2 weeks I think I'm ready for a fill my Dr. decided not to apply any fill during my surgery. Stated that some people have been having problems with the fill at time of surgery. Mine hold 11 CC and I have 0... I have tried to find a Dr. in

    Atlanta GA I'm willing to drive to several surrounding states but I HATE to fly, and don't want tot go back to Mexico if at all possible. I can't find anyone reasonable with $ or that will follow another dr. So far best offer is $2000.00 for a life time of banding... The Dr. would probably die the day after I paid. And he is new on his own. Anyone know of better? Ga. Tenn., Ala, SC, Fl? Please help I'm A Self pay out close to 10,000.00 with everything so far. :)

    Well, I'm getting antsy about the one I sent! I hope it gets to it's recipent this week at least!!! But she is not a frequent poster at all, so maybe I won't even know if she gets it. Maybe she even already has it and I just don't know.

    My package was waiting for me when I returned home on Thursday from my trip to Monterrey Mexico. I think my Secret Working Stiff was afraid she would never hear from me since I don't post much on LBT.

    I'm considering getting the lap band in Mexico due to the cheaper expenses but scared to go over there or have to pay allot of money for fills once back in MA. What is typicall for fills? How many do you get? I want this so bad! Has anyone been to mexico? can you help me out?

    I have had five fills. I had two done by Dr. Rodriguez free of charge and only payed the lab for use of the fluro in Dallas Texas. I had three done by a docotor located in Houston Texas for $200.00 each. That is why you have to be sure of the commitment that involved prior to going to mexico. In order for the band to be successful it has to be adjusted. So you need to make sure you include the cost for aftercare either locally or if you return to mexico.

    I was also banded by Dr. Arturo Rodriguez and his staff are wonderful. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience. I was also afraid of going to Mexico. I have returned several times alone since my surgery. The only regret I have about the surgery is that I waited so long before finally getting it done.

    Monterrey is nothing like the border city of mexico which have given that country the bad rap.

    I had surgery in Mexico on 4/2/05. I have had two fills done in Dr. Marvin office. Dr. Marvin accepts mexico patients along with an operative report, the cost of fills is $200.00 His office is located in the Heights area in Houston, Texas.     Hello everyone, I'm back from Mexico and everything went well as expected. I’m a little sore, haven't had anything for pain since leaving the hospital. The liquid stage got off to a good start, until this evening! Started crying while warming up my Soup.< /p>

    I don't even like eggs that much but I’m looking forward to having an egg. I’m looking forward to the next stage “MUSHY”

    Need words of encouragement have no one to talk to about the surgery. Haven’t told anyone about my surgery (except my husband).

    When will I be able to sleep on my side and stomach again?

    Hello, I'm 33 years old and flying to Monterrey Mexico on April 1st from Houston, Texas to have lap band surgery with Dr. Arturo Rodriguez.

    Any insight/advise would be appreciated. Any doctors in Houston, TX willing to do follow-up on patients who had the banding done in Mexico?
