  1. I am officially on the loosers bench! Surgery was this morning - everything is going great so far. I pray it continues...
  2. I am nervous too. I know I have done everything I can to give me the best chance of the fewest complications. I keep trying to focus on how much better my life will be in a year and at this point trying not to think about what may go wrong.
  3. Tomorrow's the day!! I can't say I am enjoying the clear liquids or bowl prep, but I just keep thinking this is the beginning of the rest of my life!
  4. A lot of very good information has already been posted here. One more idea is to speak with your clinic about support groups. These people, at least in my experience, are all patients who are working with your chosen care team. One thing that you will see on this site is that there are many different approaches to this procedure - and some of the ideas are good, some bad. Listen to your doctor and your care team. That said, I do not think you can learn enough about the procedure or the life changes it requires you to make. So keep seeking out information - I believe it is the only way to be at peace with this decision. Good luck!!
  5. I have a friend who had this done a few years ago. Her son took a picture of just her face on the day of surgery and then every week after for the first year. It is amazing how much her face changed. She said she still goes and looks at those pictures when she needs motivation!
  6. I will be praying for all of us taking this life saving step this week. I will be there on Tuesday.
  7. That's fantastic! I will be joining you on Tuesday!! Loosened Bench here we come!!!
  8. My last weekend before surgery! Won't be going out to dinner since I am on the liquid diet, but hope to take in a movie, maybe get out on a lake if the weather cooperates. Still very disappointed in the results of the liquid diet. I have followed it to the letter and have only lost 2 pounds. Only taking in about 700 - 800 calories a day plus working out. However I have lost 35 pounds since April. I talked to the NUT at my clinic and they know I am doing everything right, so even if the weight loss is not there on Tuesday, it will not jeopardise my surgery. Apparently the amount of weight I have lost is pretty rare compared to most of their patients. You know it dawns on me that this is why this surgery is so important to me. In the past when I would hit a point like this I would give up and go back to old habits. There is no going back after Tuesday!
  9. I wish you all the best! I hope it went great!!
  10. SURGERY IS ONE WEEK FROM TODAY! I have to say that this morning I am not doing well. I have been doing the liquid diet for one week and have lost not an ounce. I have NEVER followed a diet more closely than I have this. I have stayed under 900 calories every day. Up to this point I had been following my fitness pal and have lost 33 pounds. I keep telling myself it has to break. But for the past two mornings I have actually been up. I actually could cry!
  11. Hey! My surgery is also June 25!! I was the only one! I am so glad you found us. I am nervous too - excited as well. For me I keep focusing on why I am doing this and how much my life will change for the better. I have also found help in prayer.
  12. I am the 25th and am on day three. Just had all my pre-surgery classes at the hospital today. SO much information! I am excited and nervous too!
  13. Thanks for tracking this and putting it together!
  14. Just got my date today and it makes it so real. I am nervous too. I just keep telling myself I am doing this for all the right reasons. I think the closer it gets the worse the nerves get! I wish I could just fast forward my life about 3 months!
  15. Just returned from the doctor. Surgery is set for June 25th! I am SO excited mixed with scared to death!!
  16. I just returned from the doctor. I am scheduled for June 25!! So excited - mixed with scared out of my mind!!
  17. See the surgeon tomorrow afternoon. Hoping for a late June date. Will post tomorrow with the answer! HW: 331 CW: 303 RNY: Late June (I hope)
  18. Thank you for all the great posts! I see the surgeon on Monday for my surgery date - hopefully in late June. Since hitting 24 pounds I have been stuck again. I think it might have something to do with starting birth control pills - the mini pill. I was losing regularly until I started it, and since I did I have lost just a bit over a pound. My clinic requires birth control at least 1 month prior to surgery, so the pills are here to stay for now. I am just going to stick with it - the scale has to move sometime! I still have the pre-surgery diet - I have to believe that the scale WILL move then. I would really like to be down another 10 to 15 pounds be the end of June. I just have to stay focused!

  20. Well, when I weighed myself this morning I was down a little over a pound! This puts me down 24 pounds in 40 days! After not losing anything for days it was a welcome sight! I have made SO many changes it helps to know that it will make a difference after surgery. I have SO much weight to lose, this is just the very beginning. THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT!
