    Hey Yall

Yes ma'am! Another nurse here and have had the same stuff said. Just learned to keep my support group close and forget the others. Bothered me a lot at the start but they can all kiss it now nearly 9 months later. So much healthier and happier in my life. I honestly made the best decision for ME! I am so glad I did also. People are gonna talk and it's just the nature of the beast. You follow your heart and what's best for your life! Wishing you plenty of love, support, success, and joy in your journey!!

    My rant update (dh)

They are beautiful and those smiles on their faces say a lot!!! Good luck to you as you go through this life change. Divorce is hard but it does get better and gradually a new normal will develop. The sense of relief and being able to be myself again was awesome. You are taking great steps and I'm sure your children will always be thankful for you being such a wonderful mom!!

    WLS and Food Addiction

This is a subject that hits me really close to home. I am a food addict. It takes a lot of hard work to manage that addiction and keep things straight. I can see how hard it is even with RNY to keep a steady head and balance the issues that go along and in the past have fueled my addiction. I am aware though and I try to work through them now. I worry probably more than the average wls that I will fall back and not be able to regain control. I did make the commitment that no matter what rny would work for me! I will seek any means of help I may have to maintain this new healthier weight and life. Addictions are never easy tho.

    anyone regret having WLS?

Definitely if you are having the doubts still..do not do it. No way I could have went forward with surgery if I wasn't sure it was 100% the best option for me. I'm so thankful I did this for myself but it had to be the right thing, right time, and right way. Good luck!!
  10. Milk of magnesia is safe for us to take if we have to. Not sure if it's readily available in South Africa or not tho. Constipation is terrible. I would definitely try to get some relief and things moving and than maybe pick back up with daily stool softeners. I hope it gets better!

    I have my date.

Congrats!! It's totally normal to feel all those things! It's a great new start to a new life. Good luck and please let us know how it goes!!
  12. Hi! Welcome! I am a food addict. I can see it's something I will always probably be and struggle to control. I had thought I wanted the band until talking to my surgeon then I knew I would cheat it. I chose RNY because of some of the very reason you stated. I needed something that forced me to have consequences. The sugary the better was how I loved it before surgery. It's hard but it's finding a new balance. I use Splenda and I bake with Splenda. I know sugar is a no no and have suffered the terrible consequences of dumping terribly when I messed up. I needed that. Life is still sweet. Sweet as in I have sugar free items and I am pretty content. Fortunately my tastes did change after surgery and I don't have the constant raging craving for sugar anymore. I am here to help in any way I can. It's probably for you finding a balance of what you want and are willing to give. We all give a bit up by having rny. It's not always permanent stuff but is giving none the less in the sense we give away the old things that led us to obesity. I do encourage you to continue talking about it and always maybe ask about coping methods. Good luck!!

    emotional wreck

So sorry to hear everything is outta sorts right now. You do have a lot on your plate and still getting back in the swing of things after surgery. The emotional mess I felt fortunately resolved not too long post op. If it continues it's definitely worth seeing someone and maybe some meds to help or some talk therapy. You have a lot to deal with right now so it might be helpful as you try to get things in order again. You can do this and you have us. Remember no matter what you are going to be ok! Things will work out. Hugs!!
  14. Yep. I've got to where I can tolerate a thinner hamburger patty but thick is still a problem no matter how I seem to chew. Chicken..unless it's minutely shredded I still can't tolerate. Going on 9 months post op. I pretty much need some kinda sauce or something to keep it moist. Also I can never reheat proteins in the microwave. It dries it out seeming to make it even harder. I handle seafood quite well.
  15. Hi Carrie! Welcome to the site! Congrats on your surgery and weight loss. We are the same age and I had surgery April 2013. Just wanted to say welcome!!

    Hemp protein

I found some on gnc web site. Would love to hear how it is.
  18. So I'm very close to reaching my personal goal of 135lb. So close I can almost taste it. My surgeon sat his goal at 120-130 but no specific number. Anyone else have differing goals? I'm trying to really get a overall feeling for what's best for me. A part of me is feeling more I won't be content til I'm in his range. Anyone else have a similar experience? I have family pressuring me about being too thin. Just trying to find a happy balance.

    Pre-op question...?

I think your nutritionist would have a better exact value but if you are comfortable and getting enough balance between protein, fat, and carb ratio it's probably not a harmful range. I used the range they set on my fitness pal and believe was right about there pre op as well. I however usually was never satisfied and ate more. Post op does have it's easier moments with amounts. I'm a food addict also so just had a harder time fighting that pre op.

    Changes...

I'm learning the true values of layers. I move tomorrow from FL to CO I have a feeling I'm gonna really feel cold like never before. I was always the huffing and puffing girl who was sweating from nothing! I think I like the non sweating issue I just will have to stay warm...ps... Butt pain still
  24. I wonder if I'm the only one who is freezing to death and butt absolutely kills them sitting now? Good problems to have I suppose. I'm pretty much thinking about just staying in my car and keeping the seat heater on from now on! J/k but seriously ...I'm so happy for this new lease on life...just wish sitting down didn't hurt!
