About how long did it take for the pain at the surgery site to go away? It feels like the time I had bruised ribs. I'm only a week out so I figure I'll still have some pain. I'm just ready for that to be over with.

I had surgery August 7 of 2013. I just found out today about this website at my one month check up.Welcome!!!

Glad you Googled it because what I read was zero on the nutrition facts. Might have been a different kind of avocado.

For those of you who say you are losing too slow, just think at where you would be if you HADN'T started this journey. We aren't losing weight. We are GETTING RID OF IT! I hope all of us can be proud of how far we have gotten and can be excited about every little ounce we get rid of for good!

Hi. My surgery was Aug 19. It went well. My only problem so far is getting enough Protein. After drinking it for 3 wks I've started gagging on it & can't force it down. The only way I can do it is freeze it like a fudgecicle. I've been pretty good about taking multivitamins' date=' liquid Calcium and getting enough Clear Liquids.Pre liquid diet weight 387lbs
Surgery weight 375lbs
Current weight 355lbs
I have a follow-up meeting with my doc & nutritionist on Wed where I hope to get permission to drive & start soft foods.
I did nibble on some cheese last night & it went well in my pouch. I can't wait for cottage cheese lol[/quote']
Have you tried the clear Isopure drink? The Apple Melon and Alpine Punch are good. Each bottle is 40g of Protein. I drink half a bottle earlier in the day then the other half in the evening. They also sell the powder to mix with Water. At GNC they are about $5 a bottle.

How soon were you all able to start wearing a bra again? I tried the past couple days' date=' at 4 days post op, and I thinj it has been causing me some unnecessary pain.[/quote']2 days after surgery I started wearing my sports bra again. No discomfort.

I am doing good with mine. I rarely think about food which is new to me. I'm handling my liquids well and am getting around fairly good. I don't seem to have any complications so far.
Have you tried drinking half Water and half Gatorade? Or Water with Mio or Crystal Light? That helps me a lot. Also remember your broth and Jello count as water.

Thank you everyone! I'm home now. They said I was doing great so I got to go home!

I should be going home today as well! They said there shouldn't be any reason why not! Wishing you a speesy recovery!

Surgery was yesterday. 8/28/13
Surgeon said it went fabulous, textbook perfect. No complications.
I've managed the pain fairly well. Drinking and eating Jello as I should. Started walking the halls and have been on several strolls. They said I will more than likely get to go home today. I'm excited everything went great!
Only pain that bothers me is 1 incision and the gas bubble pains. Other than that, all is well!!!

Mz Shay! It's our day! Sending prayers to those having their surgery today!
I check in at 11:30a. Got some sleep last night but kept getting messages on my phone wishing me luck so I woke up a lot. Weird dreams too. I'm a little nervous but I'm ready to get this part over with. I'll keep everyone posted!
Love & luck Mz Shay! We're gonna rock this!

It's finally here for us! I have you in my prayers!

I had to submit 5 years of weight history. I went to the Ergent Care that I had seen several times in the past 5 years and guess what? They never once recorded my weight! So my insurance accepted pictures of me for the lasr 5 years. I just had to put down the year and the weight I was at.

I've had a few cheats but it does seem to get a little easier. But I find some days I don't even have the Carnation shakes I'm supposed to have. I find when I am at home I try to stay in bed as long as possible.
A few crackers shouldn't hurt.
-
I'm actually so flipping hungry right now I would go for a couple of crackers. But I told myself that I am not cheating today. I am keeping myself busy at work looking at this website and other RNY stuff, trying to keep my mind off my hunger. Then I find my mind drifting to things like patty melts and chili cheese dogs and hot wings! HAHA. dangitalltohell

You will do FABULOUS!!
This pre-op diet stuff stinks but we can make it! Think of all the great things that are in store for us after the sucky part is over!!

I was thinking a few crackers
Mz Shay
Drinking a lot of Water helps. It helps with making your stomach feel like it has something in it. I read so much that different surgeons require different diets. I feel as long as I'm under the calories of what my shakes would be and stay sugar free and such, I'll be ok. I will go full on Carnation No Sugar Added shakes and Water starting the Sunday of my surgery week. The day before surgery I can have broth... Clear liquids. uugggghhhh... still sucky but I know it's going to be worth it.

Sucky thing happened today. I used to hardly be able to eat eggs because they gave me such indigestion that it made my back hurt.
Well, I'm in the stage where I can have eggs. I actually like egg salad so I boiled some eggs and mixed one with some light mayo. It was decent.
Holy mother of indigestion! Guess I still can't eat eggs! It was twice as bad with a smaller stomach I guess. I guess I thought it wouldn't still affect me like that! So much for eggs for protein!
