    August Post Ops

I'm finally starting to find stuff I can eat and not feel like I'm eating pudding and yogurt all the time. I tried watermelon today and it went great! I also had some cheese and some cottage cheese with pineapple. I found these little 4oz cups of cottage cheese. I couldn't eat a whole one but it was still pretty good. I don't like that I have to chew chew chew the cottage cheese but I do it anyway. It's a texture thing. Had a few crackers with the cheese. I bought some ham salad from the deli. It looked finely chopped and mixed. Gonna give a little bit of that a shot. I'm really just trying to find other ways to get protein in. I can't eat eggs and I am not a fan of protein shakes.

Sucky thing happened today. I used to hardly be able to eat eggs because they gave me such indigestion that it made my back hurt. Well, I'm in the stage where I can have eggs. I actually like egg salad so I boiled some eggs and mixed one with some light mayo. It was decent. Holy mother of indigestion! Guess I still can't eat eggs! It was twice as bad with a smaller stomach I guess. I guess I thought it wouldn't still affect me like that! So much for eggs for protein!

About how long did it take for the pain at the surgery site to go away? It feels like the time I had bruised ribs. I'm only a week out so I figure I'll still have some pain. I'm just ready for that to be over with.

Glad you Googled it because what I read was zero on the nutrition facts. Might have been a different kind of avocado.

Today I start on full liquids. Yogurt, pudding, strained cream Soup, Protein shakes, etc. Today I had cream of mushroom with roasted garlic soup and it was fabulous! I could have ate the whole bowl! But I stuck to my 3 oz. Now I have to work at getting in water!

I am doing good with mine. I rarely think about food which is new to me. I'm handling my liquids well and am getting around fairly good. I don't seem to have any complications so far. Have you tried drinking half Water and half Gatorade? Or water with Mio or Crystal Light? That helps me a lot. Also remember your broth and Jello count as water.
  13. Surgery was yesterday. 8/28/13 Surgeon said it went fabulous, textbook perfect. No complications. I've managed the pain fairly well. Drinking and eating Jello as I should. Started walking the halls and have been on several strolls. They said I will more than likely get to go home today. I'm excited everything went great! Only pain that bothers me is 1 incision and the gas bubble pains. Other than that, all is well!!!

    In need of some advise...

I had to submit 5 years of weight history. I went to the Ergent Care that I had seen several times in the past 5 years and guess what? They never once recorded my weight! So my insurance accepted pictures of me for the lasr 5 years. I just had to put down the year and the weight I was at.
  20. I am scheduled to have surgery August 28th. I started my pre-op diet yesterday, August 14th. 4-6 No Sugar Added Carnation Instant Breakfast 1c of skim or 1% milk per day. Can be added on 1 instant breakfast or split up between them. Otherwise shakes must be mixed with Water. (yuck) between the Carnation I can have 1 cup of sugar free Jello or 1-2 Sugar Free popsicles at least 64oz of water - can add Mio, Crystal Light, Sugar Free Kool-Aid etc. Let me tell you, mixing 1 packet of the Carnation with water is yuuuuckie. It was suggested to make the ones with water with 3 packets. That is way better but it leaves me with only having 2 drinks per day. I also found if I mix half water, half milk and then add decaf instant coffee crystals to it, it is actually pretty good. So that is what I have been doing as far as my shakes go. I have also had some Isopure clear drinks to help keep my Protein up. I told my husband that I would do dirty things if he would just get me a cheeseburger. Surprisingly he declined. He said I will thank him for it. Now that takes some WILLPOWER on his part. HAHA This diet is all about testing my willpower. I will do it. I actually know I can. I do however, know that I will have at least 1 day that I am going to cheat. I won't cheat big, but I know I am going to since it is a planned dinner.

    My Pre-Op Diet

I've had a few cheats but it does seem to get a little easier. But I find some days I don't even have the Carnation shakes I'm supposed to have. I find when I am at home I try to stay in bed as long as possible. A few crackers shouldn't hurt.

    My Pre-Op Diet

I'm actually so flipping hungry right now I would go for a couple of crackers. But I told myself that I am not cheating today. I am keeping myself busy at work looking at this website and other RNY stuff, trying to keep my mind off my hunger. Then I find my mind drifting to things like patty melts and chili cheese dogs and hot wings! HAHA. dangitalltohell
