  1. Shershrinking thx for mentioning the loose fitting gown. I'm adding that to my list. As for the person that asked about the Chapstick I've read on here from several people that their lips were extremely chapped while in the hospital.

I don't know how to add to the list so can someone put on there a heating pad and gas x strips? Thx! Oh did I see papaya enzyme? If not add that too.

Papaya enzyme? What is that for?

  2. Hello every one. I'm new here. My surgery is scheduled for August 7th. Through kaiser Richmond Northern California with Dr. Fischer. I don't think it's hit me yet. I don't feel as excited or nervous as I expected I would.

Welcome! And believe me when I say it hasn't hit me either. I am three weeks away and it all seems so surreal.

I would love to know what we will need after surgery as well. I know what to take to the hospital, but I am also trying to get my home ready.

  3. Thanks' date=' Daisy. It took a while to be sure that there was no other way for me to lose weight and get my diabetes arrested. I've had Type 2 diabetes for 8 years, and its been forever since I was healthy physically. I *so* want to be physiclally healthy--or as close to it as I can.[/quote']

And you will be. As long as well all commit to changing our lives. I believe in your success just as strongly as I believe in my own:) I'm here if you need me

  4. I'm also from upstate NY. Dr. McDonald is my surgeon at Upstate. My surgery is scheduled for August 27th. I had shoulder surgery April 3rd' date=' & this is the earliest date they could hive me. I have been working toward this date for 2 years.[/quote']

Glad to hear your VERY LONG wait is almost over:)

  5. Well my date was July 9th but it just got rescheduled to August 22nd..not thrilled but it gives me a little more time to prepare. Im still excited!!

  6. Hi all my surgery is August 14. I'm starting to get nervous. Not about the decision but the surgery itself. I have 2 small babies and a husband to come home to. I'm doing this to be healthy for them and me. I've been heavy all my lIfe but really bad the past 14 years. I'm looking forward to getting out and doing active activities with my kIds. Not feeling like I'm being judged because I'm overweight. As well as being able to do more than 3 stairs without feeling Winded. I still have have a few more pounds to lose' date=' but I know I can do it. I'm from Massachusetts were is everyone else from[/quote']

You are making the right choice. I think we all have this fear that we might leave something behind, but what you need to look at is how much you have to gain ahead. I am from Concord, NC

  7. Hey there' date=' I am about 4 months away from getting my RNY. I still have a lot of hoops to jump through and really get dicouraged sometimes. I need support from a buddy or mentor who know what I'm going through. I live in Cramerton NC which is about 25 minutes from Charlotte.[/quote']

Hello there:) I live in Concord NC. I have my surgery scheduled for August 2. I am always here if you have any questions. I know how hard this process can be.

  8. Try calling insurance. The more you bug them the faster they seem to get things done so you won't bother them anymore.

My diet I guess isn't the worse one out there. I can have 1 serving of oatmeal' date=' 1 small yogurt, I small piece of fruit, 3oz of chicken breast or fish with no sauce or seasoning, and 1 cup of veggies. It is less than 600 calories a day. It isn't so bad in the mornings, but after work I seem to be the hungriest and the small dinner isn't cutting it.

I hope you get your date soon! It does make it real from that point on (so does the pre-op diet)![/quote']

I am so happy for you! And remember that this is the worst part. After the surgery the hunger won't be as bad and you get to cross over to the losers bench. Just keep your eyes on the prize girl and you will do great!
