What ya eating tonight?
Obeasta replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dorian and pebulz please please please tell Me how to make that refried beans?? It is not part of my culture so I have no clue how to make it. We have some tinned beans here but I don't know what to do with it. Please give me some tips? Would love to have it! My pouch does NOT like chicken, sigh. I need proteins! -
hi friends I am 4 weeks post op. I've been doing relatively well (although I struggled with fever in the beginning). I've been losing weight as well. I've been on more solid food for the past 2 weeks. My food ranged from chicken to fish and shrimp - boiled egg - gem squash, gherkins, mash potatoes, asparagus in a can, bit of Peanut Butter, vegetable Soup, bean soup, ham, cheese wedges. I try and eat slowly and chew chew, but sometimes i still struggle with it. A few times it also happened that I ate a bit just too much and then suffered the consequences. I had a terrible pain in my chest/tummy area and was laying down, even falling asleep, feeling quite horrible. I really have to try and slow myself down some more. Anyhow, why I am writing to you. For 2 days now I've been feeling a slight pressure in my tummy area, just below the boobs area... I used to suffer from stomach ulcers from time to time and it is a bit of a similar feeling. I was ulcer free when I had my op, although 4 months previously my doctor did find there was some inflammation and I was on medication the whole time up until my operation (for 3 months then). I received some Nexium to drink after my op, but I could only manage to drink it for a week. Then i HAD to stop all medications as it was making me very ill and extremely nauseous. Since stopping all meds my fever has gone away and I've been doing a lot better. But now I am just worried about this weird little pain in my chest/tummy area. it also feels as if my bra is on too tight. Do you know the feeling? I don't know whether I should be worried or not. * can it be an ulcer? * can it be me who "broke" my intestines by going on more solid food too quickly? * Can it be me who "broke" everything by those few times that I struggled and ate a bit too fast and too much and had to lie down? * can it be the gherkins that are quite sour and strong? * is it just me healing? * or feeling the pain for the first time now that I am totally free of fever? * or perhaps even me ovulating and now if feels weird? Please I would love to get some feedback. I can't just go back to my doctor for any little pain or so, I don't feel comfortable (you know surgeons and how they can be... I don't want to be saying any more).

I can def relate girl! Also on shakes for 2 weeks. it was HECTIC. longest 2 weeks of my life. Well, apart from the time in hospital that I had some complications. I was also extremely paranoid that my liver wouldn't have shrunk enough (because I was diagnosed with enlarged fatty liver). Just push through it, and do your best. In 2 weeks everything is gonna change. I KNOW you can be strong. And sometimes one stumbles, but by dear god, get back up immediately and give yourself a good talking to to not do it again, and just PUSH FORWARD! good luck!!

hahaha! this is so funny! i've been on a 2 week stall as well! lost 20 pounds in twee weeks and the following two weeks - nothing. the last 2 weeks is also the time i started with my solid soft foods, lots (well, that's relative) of carbs and such. gem squash. mash potatoes. i hardly eat anything though. and nothing is moving! i am so frustrated, scared i "broke" it! but it is good to know there are lots more out there with the same thing. I do have clothes fitting me now that previously didn't. so it seems i am losing centimetres though, which is great.

shame you poor woman! i am glad you are better now! that really is very scary. I've been having a little problem myself for these past 2 days, a bit of a stuck pain seemingly in the same place. I've made a lenthy post about it in the post op group, don't want to state everything here again. but reading the other answers it really scares me. i've been doing relatively well, and perhaps getting a bit too cocky - by not eatling slow enough (how slow is slow???), and having little tastes of things i shouldnt be having yet (but I am feeling fine!) i am so scared now and just want to climb into a box and cry, cry!

New here but happy to be here!

yay, welcome girl! it only gets better from 2 weeks post op, i promise. the first two weeks - def the toughest. i am now at 4 weeks today and i am doing much better. still struggling with getting my balance right, still tend to eat too fast and little too much and then i suffer! i was an emotional eater and still tend to want to revert back to it. so it is a process and a half, but getting better daily, that is just what i want to reassure you about! welcome! -
hi cmbd can you please tell me your exercise routine currently? I would LOVE to be 110 pounds lighter after nine months! how did you DO IT??

thanks Heather, you are speaking awesome truths.

2-week pre-op diet....ugh!
Obeasta replied to anm1063's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you all! it really is very tough, but you get through it! Just think of all the people out there who so desperately need this surgery, and who cannot have it for whatever reason. And realise how fortunate you are. and that this suffering for a few days or weeks are NOTHING in comparison to the life long suffering they will remain trapped in. YOu're getting OUT, so enjoy the ride! -

hi Nel I've been having headaches too when I wake up. I am off meds TOTALLY, so I don't drink anything for it. It does go away most of the time. I have found since I've started increasing my water (and drinking in bed at night as well), they seem to have disappeared. Try having a good go at your water intake. hope you're better soon! -
this is so awesome, well done, Don!

In the first two weeks I lost almost 20 pounds. Now in my 3rd week - since I started eating puréed and soft food I am standing still. Not losing for a week now! Is that normal? I have bowel movements every second day and all seems fine in that department. It must be the food I am having, but I am hardly eating though! So discouraging. What is gonna happen when I start eating "normal" food again?? PICK up weight?? Oh man I am so freaked out! -
Hi fellow friends and losers! Please be so kind as to reply to this post with your daily meals 3 weeks post op? I am struggling immensely and I am sure I am not getting enough nutrition in. I am lactose intolerant and can't have any yogurt or milk stuffs. Which leaves me with little choice. I am also constantly feeling not well. I think if I eat better I would feel better. So please, to help me and others reading this post, please just give a quick run down of what you are eating at your mealtimes when you're about 3 weeks post op? I hope to catch some great tips from you! I struggle especially with what to have for Breakfast. Thanks all! Obeasta

I can feel that I am not getting enough nutrients in as I am very low and down. Any tips?? I've lost about 22 pounds since the op. X -
Had surgery on Monday 4/29
Obeasta replied to Janice's Journey's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Dearest Janice I am so thinking of you. I also had complications, although different from yours. It feels shit! And one feels emotional as well! I am 3 weeks post op and I am still struggling. But it does get better. Just take it one step at a time. I hate exercise but I have to tell you - the thing that worked the best when I felt like shite, was to walk a bit. Really really really just trust me on this. I think it is because of the moving so your plumbing kicks into gear. Also the endorphins that are released makes you feel so good about yourself and you honestly feel better. And the outside air really does wonders. So whenever I feel terrible I drag myself out of bed and walk around the block - an immediate pick me up! Try it, it really helps! We will get there, soon. xxx -

Hi friends Hope any of you know perhaps a bit more or has been through the same as I. I've had my RNYGasttic bypass 3/4 days ago and still in hospital. I am running a high fever of anything between 37 and 40. They give me stuff in my IV then I feel better but only a little while and it starts up again. My face is extremely hot the whole time. And my body is cold, sometimes it starts shivering but my face is hot hot hot like it is on fire. Except for that I am fine. My incisions seem fine, the op went well, I can get up and walk around. Just this terrible heat in my face and fever. Anybody have an idea?? Is there a doctor on here with experience? They've sent bloodwork away now, hopefully it indicates the problem. I am really so so so so worried.

Protein drink idea
Obeasta replied to one day at a time's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Brilliant! What a clever woman you are! Think I will be doing that when I am home and recovering. Had enough of the shakes on the pre-op diet. So we are allowed decaf coffee? Obviously it must cool down a bit before sipping? -
Not to good with me. Second day recovery Have to stay a day longer. High fever. Very emotional. It is due to me having bad affects of not getting my anti-depressant substitute in. Crying spells feel Terrible. Struggle to type. Hope other girls doing better I feel terrible uuiirgh
