    What are your portion sizes?

Tomorrow is 5 weeks and I can only eat 1 scrambled egg or table spoon of cottage cheese, or a table spoon of greek yogurt. I have no appetite or hunger pains so I just figure as long as I continue to drink my water and keep up my meal replacements and protein requirements rather not eat. as of May 9 had lost 40 pounds. haven't weighed myself again yet but I can tell how my shoes are starting to slide around that I have lost some more. everytime I try to eat something I regurgitate it. The way I am able to get my meal replacements in now is because I have a g-tube and will have one for 3 more weeks per my doctor. At first I was sad about having the g-tube but since i am also tired of the smell of the meal replacements. the only advantage i have is I can put meal replacements mixed with water only and crushed meds through my g-tube. Since I am meeting my protein and vitamin goals no need to eat. Think I am going to hate when my doctor says time to take tube out. hope by then I can deal with mixing the meal replacements with fruit to take the smell away.
  4. Had surgery on April 10th wednesday home by April 12th friday. sore of course when i got home but no bowel movement for ten days turns into small bowel obstruction. back in hospital on april 17th wednesday a week later and surgery again. woke up with a nasogastric tube a g tube with drainage bag. they capped off naso tube on sunday until then only ice chips which didn't start until friday. now after the first surgery was tired and a little weak but now when i get a little tired or short of breath i can sit down for a few minutes and i am ready to go again it is the weakness that is worst than before. right now may 6 I still have the g tube which has been great for taking meal replacements and water into because the smell of the meal replacement causes my stomach to turn. and i can crush all my vit and other meds and put them in my tube. only foods that i have been able to eat since surgery is small curd cottage cheese, greek yogurt, tuna, jello and pickles. i tried to eat grilled chicken and veg beef soup after each bite i felt it stop in my throat and i didn't feel relief until i regurgitated it. I have no appetite so guess it is just better for me to continue meal replacements and protein powder and drink my water. Was told that the g tube would be in for 6 weeks. don't really mind it because i can push the meal replacement mixed only with water through my tube. If i didn't have it i would have mixed the meal replacement with skim chocolate milk like i did pre surgery.

    Caffeine

I was also told by my surgeon that caffeine can irritate the stomach lining and with a small pouch the regular amounts you find in a soda or one cup of coffee is to much. the amounts you find in some decaf items is enough. The withdrawal headaches were enough to make me not go back mine lasted about a week wake up with a migraine that lasted about an hour then would just go away. She also wanted her patients to go through this prior to surgery like she stated your going to go through enough without having to deal with withdrawal headaches on top of it.
  6. I am new to this whole process. My surgery date is April 10, five days after my birthday. I have wanted to have surgery for the last 10 years. I knew alot of people who have had either the band or RNY and at first in 2003 I was on a waiting list to have the band done and when I got to the front I had just turned 5 months pregnant (my little surprise angel) needless to say it was cancelled. I have always lost weight with pregnancy so that time I lost 52 pounds by the time I delivered but having post partum depression after I gained the 52 plus 20 in about 2 months. this is what happened after each of my pregnancies (3). Now here I am last year I was informed by insurance coordinator that my insurance was starting a pilot program and the first 100 that was qualifided could have surgery and they would pick up 80 percent(would have loved to have them say 100% but oh well can't have everything) of the bill. So just a little nervous as to being accepted I put off calling for a month then that one day in November 2012 I chose my surgeon and made that call. Here I am April 2013, 6 days before that day after all the doctors appointments, mental health evaluations, dieticians meeting and group classes later.

    Is it normal!?

I did the cold turkey with the caffeine also because I knew if I didn't I would keep having one more starbucks one more coke (diet cherry dp since I found out diabetic). the headaches were extreme and I really just started drinking coffee 2 years ago until then I never liked it.

    Is it normal!?

My surgery is April 10, I only have to be on full liquid diet for 3 days prior. I feel the same way and when they told me not to treat the days prior to full liquid diet as the last supper that is exactly what my friends call it trying to eat a little of all my favorite foods because i feel that i will never have them again. But thats ok harder for me was to give up caffeine with the withdrawal headaches that finally stopped. omg
  9. thanks pre op diet is going so so. meal replacement in morning snack a few hours later lunch if i dont leave it at home is a problem. had veggie burger one day. I think the liquids 3 days prior will be easier to remember not saying going to be easy just will have meal replacements and protein crystals with me all the time. and i stock piled enough crystal light and low sodium broth to fill one of my cabinets at home.
