  1. blueeyezz,

My surgery was the day after. I was having problems also and saturday I took some Swiss Kriss, it is a natural herbal laxative. I took it Saturday morning and later that evening I had a good movement and again Sunday. It caused little cramping but was well worth it.

Give it a try. You should be able to find it at any Walgreen and other drug stores.

  2. i may not be typical, but I was getting out of bed on my own about fours after being put in my own room. I started walking the halls at that time with little or no pain. I was a bit dizzy. I was able to sleep in the hospital bed the only night I was there. I did use the self-medicate button a couple times the first day.

First night at home I was able to sleep in my bed. I could not roll to my right side without pain. Second night no problems either side. I am now 5 days out and feeling great. I have been walking 1.5 to 2 miles a day.

I will stay out until my two week followup appointment. I do find it hard to concentrate on my computer for any extended time.

Hopefully your pain will be minimal.

I have been doing 90 g of Protein and 50 to 60 oz of Water daily.

    Good Luck,

    Rick

  3. Nellie,

I think you will be fine. the insurance will look at your weight/BMI when you started the process. I was just at 40.9 BMI on my first visit, but I had many comorbidities. the day of surgery I was about 35 BMI. My doctor was very happy with the weight loss. He said it nake his job much easier.

I can't believe the Dr. office would suggest you gain weight. I would ask the Dr's nurse if you can't talk directly to your surgeon.

What you put back on you just have to take off again.

    Good luck,

    Rick

  4. My ride home was a little over an hour. I had a sever bloated felling but little pain. The offered to let me push the morphine button one more time before they disconnected my IV and release me. I have my surgery on the 21st. This morning I feel pretty good no pain or nausea and getting down my Protein with no problems.

i can only sleep on my back or left side; if I roll over on my right side it will wake me up pretty quick with pain. I did gain four pounds during my stay at the hospital

    Good luck Med,

    Rick

  5. Smiley,

Don't know how I missed you. Was you at physician specialty for your procedure? My surgery was the same day by Dr. Kwon at Roller's office.

I had a hard time getting the room temp Protein and Water down but they released me at 3:00 PM the day after also.

My wife and I was walking the halls within three to four hours after moving to my room.

I ham now getting my Protein and Water down with no problem - as long as it is cool I still like the taste of the Premier Protein.

    Good luck with your journey,

    Post updates...

  6. Shawna,

I am with you on the 21st. I go in at 5:30 AM (thats crazy there) I have over a hours drive to boot.

Let me tell you what scares me...tomorrow I have to drink magnesium citrate. I am betting the 10 OZ will seem like four gallons before the day is over.

There may be some emergency sanitizing going on around here. Just keep your mind on the prize at the end of the journey.

Things will be great and get better.

    Good Luck Wednesday,

Shoot us an update later this week and let us know how you are doing.

  7. I am a 6’1” male that started this year at 312 lbs. After my January seminar I made up my mind to make this weight loss attempt work this time. I signed up for the RNY and will be getting my surgery August 21st.

Now to my question, I have lost 45 lbs to this point and only have 60 to 65 more to lose. After getting my surgery is it possible to lose this small amount without getting too thin? I don’t want to get under 200!

BUT I know if I don’t have the surgery this will be one more of my yo yo diets. I need the tool/incentive to make this be my last diet. Albeit it will be life long.

    For you experts…

Now a silly question: I love jalapenos. I eat about a quart of sliced jalapenos every two weeks. Should I cease and desist on these during my pre-op diet and post-op for a period of time? Can they cause problems like ulcers?

    Thanks,

    Rick

  8. Please say it isn't so..........

The worst pain I have ever experienced in my life was my third stone. I have broke ribs, a leg and shattered my ankle they hurt but not as bad as my last stone.

I was able to pass the first two but the third they had to go in for it. Just to think that there may be more to come has me thinking about my next week surgery??

I feel sorry for you, but it sounds like you came through it OK. Good luck and hopefully it will be your last.

  9. I don't know what kind of fool you are, but surgery is not the easy way out. Surgery is a tool that if those who use it use it correctly works very well. If this is your first post, and your other posts are going to look like this, don't bother to post to any thread that I'm in because I'm probably going to ignore you. The drivel coming out of your mouth doesn't even belong here.

I know what kind of fool he is but can't say it. This is what you get when you mix two brain cells and a computer.

  10. FYI,

I guess I must be a rare bird. I just started my pre-op Protein diet and I like both the drinks I tried today. I know it is early but they are pretty OK..

For Breakfast I had a Bariatric Advantage Iced Latte - blended in some ice and it was pretty good.

For lunch I had a Permium Protein chocolate - over ice and it was good.

I got the Latte on line and the Premium Protein at Sam's Club.

I hope my taste don't change after surgery because these are easy to get down.

I will upate if things change.

  11. I too was denied a few weeks ago. I contacted my surgeon's office and asked them to help with the appeal. The had a peer to peer phone call and the insurance company reversed their decision and approved me in two weeks.

Turned out to be the doctors office failed to include all the pertinent documents.

All is good now August 21 is my surgery date....

    Good Luck

    Rick.
