So, I had my follow up with my surgeon today. 11 days post op. She moved me to pureed foods today a few days early. Yay! Finally! Lol She said I was doing great and couldn't be more excited for me and I'm off to a wonderful start. My incisions are all almost completely healed. My first meal tonight was refried beans. I think I got down maybe 1oz. I feel full, which I never had the full sensation with the cream Soups. I think it went really well. I definitely know what everyone was talking about when your stomach gets loud and rumbly after eating! Lol I feel like it's talking to me. Thanking me for the food. Definitely definitely bring a pillow for the ride home. If there are any bumps breathing out deeply with the bumps REALLY helps! Good luck! Also, the breathing thing helps tremendously when getting in and out of bed. Surgery Date: May 2, 2013 - Amount Lost: 25lbs

My surgery was paid by BC/BC of IL also. But, my STD was through Mutual of Omaha and I have a 7 day waiting period after surgery date to start getting paid. As long as you have met their Pre-existing condition clause they would have to cover since it's a surgery that you are having, which is a medical condition. I had my surgeons office and employer fill out their forms and submit and I was approve for STD within a few days. They pretty much told me that since my Dr says that I'm having the surgery they have to pay me for STD since it's not work comp or anything like that. You shouldn't have any issues. I know that if you have the tomato Soup you can count that to your liquids. But, how much Tomato soup should you have at one time? Does that count as eating also. I've very confused about this. Surgery Date: May 2, 2013 - Amount Lost: 22lbs

Robe Chapstick Phone charger Crystal light Loose clothes to wear home Definitely bring shampoo and conditioner Pillow from home/throw blanket (that I sleep with every night) This is all I used. I wouldn't worry about a bunch of extras. -
This was my first surgery too. So, I had no idea what to expect. All I can say is that it was extremely less painful than I could have imagined. I was so in and out of sleep I barely looked at my phone but a couple of updates on here. I suggest pack light and Def bring crystal light packets! It'll make your liquids much easier to take once they start allowing you liquids.
