in regards to chicken what i do sometimes is cook it then put it through a food processor it shreds it so thin it never bothers me when i do that. I find for me I have to biggest issues when I have to chew the table foods and I am not paying attention to how fast or how much I chew it. So stuff I think might bother me a process it in the chopper to be safe.

I have to agree with all of you the protien and fluids is almost in impossible. I know i am not even close to 1000 cal. and protien i might be lucky to get 50. Now I have to also try and take all these vitamins and plus other meds i am already on wow this is a struggle but so worth it i keep telling myself hahah. I keep trying different food but keep going back to soft foods . Thank you for the advise on warm liquid in the morning. I am going to try that.

here in alberta canada, i just went to my dietician and asked her about salads and she said the best to try and handle is iceberg and the heart of the roman...she said to stay away from leafy soft lettuce. She also told me red meat is always the hardest to handle especially before the six months is past. She told me i can have fruit now but make sure to peal any with a skin. even the veggies peel the skins.

    NOVEMBER 2013 Surgeries

Hi everyone, I had my operation on the 28th of Nov. and so far doing ok. I am with a few of you having a hard time writing things down after doing it for a year just cant get back into it. I too cant stand the protien drinks except glucerna I can still manage to drink if I feel the need too. I was wondering if any of you at this point have tried salads and how it was for any of you.

I am like you, I will be eight weeks soon and sheesh so scared to eat stuff. There is an awesome book my doctor told me to get it is diets for dumby weightloss surgery. It tells you every stage and what to do and not. plus receipes. I find raw veggies hard still and i think i will wait till spring to try them.

Seems weird I dont crave anything but orange juice, but have to add water for it is so sweet. Once in awhile I want salt so I lick the flavour of the chips but dont eat them. I think my mind just wants to eat pizza and hamburgers but I dont crave them. I do miss the feeling of eating those kinda foods but that is it.

it sure is a eye opener when a person physically cant eat what we have been for many years. But in some ways very interesting on how much crap we have punished our poor stomachs all these years. I dont know what it is but I cant handle protien shakes right now and milk which i used to love kinda tastes weird now. I also can taste right away now when there is those artificial sweeteners in the drinks or foods it is nasty. Thank you to everyone helping me with the fish thing, I think I will be needing allot of help on that food item hahaha. hope I like fish ...xcrossing fingers.

    Any Canadians Out There?

I know is Alberta if you keep your weight off for a full year from time of your goal weight. You will get a tummy tuck for free. They were saying they are trying to get the arms and legs next for the people who need it but for now just the tummy is. My goal I hope by summer to be 185 at least, so that would be seven months from my surgery.

ok you are so very helpful thank you so much. I dont know much or anything about fish so that is the hard part. might have to find some friends to help me learn who to cook it and what kind, I tried the cheap stuff in the store like captain hilander and omg I was so sick. I didnt even eat the batter but I think the oil from it was what made me sick. This is such a huge learning thing, I am not complaining just finding it so hard to know what to eat. Good thing I am never hungry.

do you remember how long it took before you could eat food right off the plate, not pureed. I am on week seven and needed some new ideas on food besides yogurt or applesauce. And soup is getting old even when i hated soup to begin with.

I dont understand why you would go through the surgery to go back to drinking pop with all that sugar. That really confuses me why.

I hear ya on the boring food and being upset. Sick of yogurt or applesauce and soups. But it beats the pain and puking everytime I try to chew real food and it doesnt work. We all have to remember we have baby tummy now and for our future we are going to be so happy and healthy again. But I am with everyone on the frustration.

i would have to agree with Mkmb2006. I at first wanted it to come off fast but then I got to thinking maybe slower is better then the skin can go back with the loss. So now I am happy with the small amounts as long as it keeps falling is all that I care. But I do also get frustrated from time to time. We can do this and help each other.

I had to take a year of going to the clinic, seeing nurses and dieticians before my surgery. They are very strict. I had to loose 10% of my extra weight before i could have the surgery. After surgery I was four weeks clear fluids, then four weeks fluids, now on soft foods, or puraid foods. I was told only to eat about 2 tbsp for now so a person wouldnt get sick. Also for the rest of my life no more carbonated drinks it is hard on the pouch and could damage it. Sugar or sweets gives me a feeling a sluggish and only way to make it go away is to sleep. Bread is also bad but I was told toast is ok in time when I am more like months from now.I still do mostly fluids they say anything that can run off a spoon, it seems to be the best for not being sick. Hope that helps some of you. I too get where I want stuff and regret it if I try regular food thinking i can chew it enough..it isnt worth the pain.

    Any Canadians Out There?

Hi, I am from Alberta, had surgery in Red Deer on Nov 28 2013. Woke up felt like nothing was done. Feeling better everday, and the energy is finally coming back. Love seeing the weigh scale finally moving. I would have to say the program in Red Deer is amazing and professional. They all want to see everyone be successful in their journey there.
