  1. I just gave my wife my ring right before they put me under and said something romantic like... make sure you look for the confirmation for the Notre Dame tickets we just ordered.
  2. Me too no jewelry at all
  3. That first shower at home was unreal. I felt so much better afterwards. Also, i have swelling about the size of a lemon above one of my incisions still. Any guess on how long it will be till that goes down.
  4. sorry to hear about the obstacles Mitzie. You have been a great surgery buddy. It won't be long until we are posting in the NSV thread!
  5. I slept pretty good last night. I woke up at 4:30 with a dry mouth and pretty sore. I am guessing both are to be expected. Getting out of bed was awful but I am blessed with an amazing wife who woke up and helped. I know this is all part of the healing process and I am just glad to be on the losers bench.
  6. going good. I am pretty tired but pain is not too bad.
  7. Congrats. I hope you feel well soon.
  8. I am home and feeling pretty good. Sipping ice water has never felt this good.
  9. Ohh the celebration of passing gas! I go home today and hopefully will get to respond to everyone's well wishes.
  10. I made it! Sorry for taking so long to update. I have been sleeping most of the day. My wife told me everything went well. Apparently I have spoken to a lot of people but I don't remember much. Pain is not too bad. I feel like I have done 10,000 sit ups while trying to hold my mother-in-law.
  11. Should be heading to the OR any second. My surgeon was cracking up because I was trying to buy Notre Dame tickets while she came in to go over things. I am taking my skinny butt to an Irish game this fall.
  12. Sitting in the hospital bed, still pretty calm. Hospital staff is great.
  13. My day is finally here. I am strangely calm. Today is like any other. I am completely in the hands of God.
  14. I hope everything goes great Mitzie.... I will see you on the losers bench!
  15. Jetson, I am from the south side also and my surgery is tomorrow. There are people on here with lots of experience. I am not one of them unfortunately but feel free to reach out to me with any questions or thoughts anytime.
  16. 18 pounds in the first 8 days. I find out the total on Tuesday before the surgery.
  17. You are right Soccer mom, I am on day 13 of liqueds and I am at the point were I am tempted to fire up the smoker and put BBQ sauce on my muscle milk shake cartons and smoke them up for 12-14 hours. I have my surgery Tuesday and then I will onlyget 1/8 a cup of juice mixed with water for 8 days. I am not sure what iI will be tempted to smoke after that.
  18. You can do this. I am on day 13 of only liquids and after two days it was not to bad.
  19. I will try to find this and give it a try
  20. I don't put tons of sauce on my pulled pork but it would be nice to have a sauce that wasnt to full of sugar for grilling chicken or using with turkey meatballs
  21. Way to go Nicole, keep it up!
  22. I will have to try that spend a brown sugar in my rub and see if I can't make a BBQsauce with it.
  23. I bet a Carolina style sauce would be good to use. I will have to do some home work and try making RNY friendly options on my smoker
  24. How many post op'ers have tried BBQ'd meats? My favorite foods are smoked pulled pork and brisket. In moderation is this something i will be able to eat again.
  25. I have a five year old too and I keep reminding myself she is a big reason why I am doing this. Keep trying to look 3-5-10-20 years out. I can't wait to walk her down the isle. My surgery is Tuesday and I am nervous but I keep thinking about what this will allow me to do.
