  1. This morning it looks like part of the rash is drying up. Hard to really tell because of where it is (the whole area between my belly button and my bikini line - not that I wear one!) and it was so brilliantly purple yesterday, but the center looks a little less so today. Benedryl helped me sleep all night. After a good nights sleep and yesterday's nap at least I'm not dragging today. Dermatologist at 1pm. Looks like another dress day, can't bear jeans rubbing on the rash. :-(
  2. Mashed meatball with a little sauce. Glory hallelujah, real food!!!
  3. The weekend I came home from the Hosp I started to develops a rash on my lower belly. Tried hydrocortisone but it didn't help. Balmex eased the itching so I thought maybe it would just clear up. Over this past weekend it was spreading any getting worse. First thing Monday I called my NP who took me right away. She prescribed Fluocinonde cream, which I started using right away. Today the rash is twice as big and the itching is unbearable - I haven't slept in two nights. I've left three messages on the NP's voicemail and I've tried to call my dermatologist twice this morning. I don't much care who I see or how much I have to pay... I am miserable!!!!! I'm about ready to just head to the walk-in. :-(
  4. BCBS of RI. Approval in less than a week. :-)
  5. Some people are worriers. Have him watch YouTube. It has a lot of rny stories that are pretty inspiring. I used to watch them endlessly... they helped me to decide. There are even a few with bad experiences, but those are usually the result of poor decisions and choices following surgery. Some even have complications and were educational for those possibilities. Of those no one regretted their decision. My husband told me one night that he didn't want a dead wife. I told him that without the surgery, that is exactly what he would get eventually. And I would be miserable until then.
  6. An hour?! My hubby is a body builder and he can't do more than 30 mins on the elyptical machine. :-)
  7. My husband was behind me, but very reluctantly. He was concerned that I could die. I brought him to several appointments and he felt better about it after being more informed. He was still worried right up to the surgery, during the surgery, and after the surgery. He didn't start feeling better until my one week post op appt and my surgeon said how well I was doing.
  8. How was your day today? Did you last all day? I hope you're feeling well.
  9. Thanks Dorian. I had an appointment with my nutritionist today and was discussing this with her too. Between the iron, high protein focus w/less fiber, and hypothyroidism I will always be battling constipation. I'm sure I'll be using anything that offers relief in the future.
  10. Oh yeah. When I told her I tried the stool softener liquid from the drugstore she told me to dump it out. She said it works, but it's the worst-tasting stuff EVER. :-) :-)
  11. Ended up going to see the NP today for a stubborn itchy rash that's been plaguing me. Since I was there I discussed my other issues with her. I can take Miralax for now. After 30 days I'm to take 2-4 stool softener liquigels daily, forever. She gave me some protein tips, too. She says I'm doing great and incisions look great. Now if only this damn rash would clear up...
  12. That's how I feel. Nice even straight lines. I have a touch of OCD. :-)
  13. Headaches suck. I've never had a migraine, I hear they're horrible. Hope you feel better soon. I LOVE cutting the grass. When I was a child we never had a yard, so when I got married and we bought our first home I really got into the yard. As an added bonus, when I was cutting grass the kids weren't allowed to bother me unless it was an emergency, so mowing grass was as close as I got to 'quiet time'. My husband is the only man in the neighborhood who has a grass-cutting wife. He's the envy of every man on the street! :-) :-)
  14. Check the sugar content. If it's over... what? 15 Grams? Then you don't want to eat it. Try sugar free Popsicles. Healthy Choice has a frozen Greek yogurt that's good, too. It comes in 1/2 servings, but only three in a package.
  15. Benedryl makes me drowsy enough to sleep. I was hospitalized years ago with some bizarre rare syndrome. I hadn't slept in days and they were afraid to medicate me because I could stop breathing. They gave me Benedryl, which just makes you drowsy enough to dose off. Afterwards Benedryl helped me get rest whenever I had trying times and couldn't sleep.
  16. I've been married 31 yes. Yes, to some extent this is most men. When we got married my mother-in-law had been cleaning his room and doing his laundry... I just took it over. After 31 years his dirty clothes still end up on the floor NEXT to the hamper. He's an auto tech so his pocket crap ends up on my kitchen counter - hose clamps, various tools, nuts and bolts, dirty greasy shop-rags, etc. :-p. When the kids were little and I was going to school nights I would make his dinner, then he would come in and I would go out. Guess how many nights I came home to him still waiting for me to serve his dinner to him?! I've learned to live with it. He doesn't drink, do drugs, go out with buddies, gamble, or cheat so if that's his only problem I can deal with it. It helps to keep my sense of humor. And I have to apologize in advance to whichever young girl ends up with my son... because despite my best efforts he is just like his dad! :-)
