I am on the northeastern coast of the US, in southern RI. Australia is beautiful! (I watch HGTV's House Hunters) lol

A scale is not the only tool to measure your progress. In your case, it may not even be the best tool... Are you taking body measurements? It's possible that you could be getting smaller without losing weight. It sounds like you are toning and maybe building muscle, which is more dense and heavier than fat. You could be losing fat and gaining muscle. If you go to a gym see if someone can measure your body fat for you. There is a tool they use combined with a simple formula to calculate the body fat percentage (or go online and buy your own body fat calipers and learn how to calculate body fat percentage yourself). Keep checking every two weeks. This will show your progress in a measurable way. :-)

Plz help!
terry1118 replied to Crystalynn Alhashim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to never lay down for at least an hour after eating. The only thing that helps me is what pookybear said - walk around. It's a very unpleasant experience that makes me want to be super-careful about what and how I eat. -

It's been sooo hot! I bought a bathing suit and went to the beach for a swim with my daughter tonight. Cooled me right off! I haven't done that in ten years! :-) Don't really like the bathing suit but it fit. There's slim pickings in the stores right now on them. Back to school stuff is out already... -

Question for all Post Ops
terry1118 replied to shawna29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm spending less. Before I went to Dunkin Donuts every morning before work and sometimes in the afternoon, too. Sometimes I'd go 2-3 times a day on weekends. At work we'd get take out for lunch 2-3 times a week (my boss likes to order out and will send someone 25 miles to pick up lunch). Now I eat very little. I throw away a lot of food because I can never eat what's on my plate. That, too, is amazing! Me... throwing away food! I always cooked healthy (but didn't eat what I cooked). My husband and son have been heavily into body building for eight years now. It's all high Protein, low carb, low sugar, low fat and whole grains in my house, all the time. Now I'm eating what they eat. :-) -
why does everyone think every illness is related to RNY?

It's normal to be nervous. You'll do fine and be wondering why you were so worried in the first place. Good luck! :-)

With me it's tuna that gets stuck. Four times it's happened and three of them with tuna. Your pouch is very small and if you eat too much it backs up to your esophagus causing pain just between and slightly below your breasts and severe nausea. Your body makes saliva to try to help manage the food. A lot of people say they throw up the food but I couldn't (it would have been better if I could but I'm not a puker). I felt very 'gurgly' in my chest and all I could throw up was gobs of bubbly saliva. You get the same effect if you eat bigger bites, even if you chew it well. You get too much, too fast, feeling like it gets stuck. The same if you eat something too dry. My first time (and the worst time) it happened with a little bit of tuna from one of those envelopes - I swear I only ate about two tablespoons. I had 2-3 hours of absolute misery! They say if a food bothers you wait a little while and try it again. So a couple weeks later I tried again, making it moist with mayo, chewing carefully and eating slowly. Nope! No good! More suffering. Today for lunch I gave it another try, making it really, really moist the way my nut suggested, I ate very little, very slowly. Still no good. Sick for two hours at work. More serious would be if food is REALLY stuck in the new small opening, and not just feeling like it. Large pieces of food, fibrous food, seeds and nuts, hard to digest foods - could all be real trouble. For the most part, following your doctor's instructions will minimize the problems you could have with food Chicken seems to be bad for some people. With others it may be something else. It seems that everyone is different. And just because something makes you sick, it doesn't mean it will always make you sick. It could change. I'm giving up on tuna, at least for a while. It's a shame because it's a good protein source.

Love tuna, it doesn't love me. I'm hoping that will change eventually. -
Sweet and refreshing... No sugar added Popsicles 25-30cals depending on flavor). Or Healthy Choice frozen Greek yogurt, if you don't mind more calories (100cals/1/2 cup)

severe gas and discomfort
terry1118 replied to annav562's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to ask this same question. I have been farting like crazy all afternoon! I haven't had an issue with this at all until today. I've been going over what I have eaten today and I've had everything before... except I tried a Jello sugar free chocolate mouse around 1pm. Maybe that did it??? If that's the culprit I will never eat it again! -

terry1118 replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tonight I was bad. In seven weeks I've had very little veggies. So tonight I had nothing but mashed cauliflower with some cheddar cheese. No protein, aside from the protein in the cheese. It was so good! I think I've got it out of my system for a while... :-) -
