What ya eating tonight?
terry1118 replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A couple bites of sirloin tips and some asparagus. Should have passed on the tips... I've got foamies. I'm trying to keep it down. I took the dogs for a walk because activity sometimes helps. It didn't this time. I think I'm going to have to make it come up. Walking Dead is on in twenty minutes and I AM NOT missing any part of the season opener! :-( -

Back On Antibiotics - Bleck!
terry1118 replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I researched probiotics after someone mentioned how well they worked to help regulate your system. I found a good one and ordered it. When it came the capsules were pretty big. I tried one and it got 'stuck' causing 'foamies'. It seems I only do well with 'tic-tac' sized pills. Now I eat baked beans to regulate my bowels - it works for me. :-) -

For the whole first month I was mildly to moderately nauseous. Foods smelled bad and tasted worse. That lasted about a month. Gradually it goes away. It takes time for your body to heal - it's been through a lot. Even now, four months later, I'll try something I used to like and find I don't like it anymore. It's not entirely a bad thing - I eat for fuel, not for pleasure. It's very liberating. :-) -
Things I will not miss...

I also felt that way about my husband and his family. My husband works out constantly and looks way younger than his 54 years. I never wanted to be seen with him because I was embarrassed for HIM. And his family is Nowegian. He, his mom, and his two sisters are all six feet tall and slim (his mom and one sister both did some modeling when they were young). I'm 5' tall and went from 107 pounds to 233 after having my three children. I looked like a weeble. -

Also, I only took two weeks off from work but could have gone back after one. My job in a bank is not physically strenuous. :-) -

There certainly is! In addition to increased energy, my back pain, knee pain, and foot pain is gone. All this in four months! :-)

I cut grass for 2 1/2 hours. Baked beans from a can, microwave for 1 minute. That is the extent of my cooking tonite! Lol -
Before surgery I had to cut my grass in stages - mow a little, rest a little (or a lot), sometimes over a couple days. My yard is 1 1/2 acres w/about an acre of grass and 675 feet of street frontage w/more grass (it's a corner lot). It takes two hours to mow w/a push mower. Now I can mow the whole thing (with short breaks every 1/2 hour to drink water), do some gardening, play w/the dogs, clean house, cook dinner, walk the dogs... and STILL have energy to do whatever else I want. I have my life back. :-)

4 Syrup ?'s about protein shakes.

Can you use extracts? Like vanilla, orange, almond, etc? Little sugar, and a tiny bit, usually a few drops or so, goes a LONG way. -
April 2013 Post-Op Group

Foamies suck! Maybe try again in a month? Chicken scares me, as does tuna. I stick w/my 'safe' foods now. I'm healthy and it's working, so why not? But thinking towards the coming holiday... I'd like to be able to eat a little turkey w/everyone else. :-) -

I want to buy a small crock pot. Mine is a big 5qt - fine when my kids lived at home and we were a family of five - but WAY too big for just me and my husband. I miss my crock pot recipes, especially now that the weather is getting colder. -

So many flavors! I don't know what to choose. What are some of your favorites I can try?

I plan to give up white rice, white Pasta, white bread, and white potatoes for life. Not because I CAN'T eat them (I don't know if I can or not) but because I DON'T WANT to eat them. Those were always trigger foods for me, along with sweets of any kind (another thing I'd like to ditch forever). It's like an alcoholic giving up alcohol. He can't just have a drink once in a while - he has to stay away from it completely. I guess I'm a "carboholic". I will eventually have healthier carbs like brown rice, wheat pasta, sweet potato, and whole grain bread, but in very limited amounts. That being said I think white rice would bother me if I ate it. I think that because I bought Beanitos to try and they didn't sit well with me. I only ate two but that's all it took. I tried them twice with the same result - gurgles, burping, and foamies. One of the ingredients listed was rice flour - I'm assuming that was the culprit, because the other listed ingredients are common in other foods I've eaten w/o trouble.

Jeep chick, have you been to the Cranberry Festival in Wareham before? If so, is it worthwhile? It's this weekend and we were going to go Sunday. I've never been before.
-
Try a bag first (1.75 each). I guarantee you will like them. I went there today to buy some more CrunchO's. I like to keep them in my car so I have something to eat when I need it. A word of advice - if you see the protein pretzels don't bother trying them. I tried them today and they are NOT good! :-p

How about some NSVs!?!?
terry1118 replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I actually fit into all the 14's I tried on! I didn't buy any of them because why would I if they're going to be too big in a month. While shopping I tried on some 12's and I got into them, too! Of course I looked like an over stuffed sausage but I DID get into them. So that's what I bought - two pair of slacks, sz12. I bet I'll be wearing them by Thanksgiving! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) I have not been a sz12 since 1985! Picture me, grinning from ear to ear! :-) -
