  1. Oh gosh this all sounds so scary. I go in next week for another fill I am t 7 now, and I know when you get up in those numbers you get close to restriction. I'm glad you got it fixed and worked out. I have no restriction and feel like I could eat a horse, so I want to get filled well so I don't eat too much and mess up all my weight loss. but I really don't want to have to get too full that I am in pain.
  2. I got banded about 4 months ago and sort of felt like I was going this alone. So many people have inspired me when I come on here and see their progress but I had no one keeping me on track. My husband has been the same weight since I met him over 20 years ago, and my teenage daughter has always been against my surgery. She says I am just lazy taking this way out. Anyway I started a blog a few days ago, to get my feelings out and record my progress along the way. But right now I only have a few people following me which makes me once again feel like I am all alone here. If you have a minute can you follow me on my blog to keep me inspired on my mission to stay on track. http://bandedup.blogspot.com Thanks.
  3. Katie- good for you on running 3 minutes. When i started I could run 30 seconds. I got up to 4 minutes but then I stopped getting on the treadmill for almost 2 months. When I got back on last night I could only do 2 minutes. So I learned a lesson, I stop and so does my progress.

Help! My pants are too big!

I have that problem too. And I don't really want to spend money on new pants. so I just get safety pins and put them in before I put them on. I did one time go to get some pants taken in on the bottom, narrowed, and she charged me $17.00 then an extra $11 bucks to hem them up. I only paid 14.99 for the pants so it was way too much. Those pants I had altered last month are now way too big on the wasteband, so it was a complete waste of money.

    Frustrated and need encouragement

Yes the first month or so is hard, basically you are doing it all on your own since the band isn't filled much. I would encourage you to really monitor your protein as that will keep you full longer and help you more on the scale. I also lost like 15 then stood still for like 2 weeks, then lose few more, then have no loss for 10 days. It takes a while and every time I get on the scale I still hold my breath.
  6. Hey everyone, thought I would pop in this thread and join in. I am all about being positive. I am so excited about being banded and my loss even though I have tons more to lose. Yesterday i started a blog to get some of my feelings, fears, and triumphs out there since my husband has no idea what it means to deal with weight. So come follow me to keep me honest in my journey. Banded Up
  7. If you are wondering what life will be like after the band come follow me on my journey on my blog. I just started it today and will be posting all of my thoughts, troubles, and triumphs. I tell it like it is, so come get the real deal. Banded Up
  8. I got one but was too lazy to get up off the couch and measure my arm so I guessed and I guessed too small. So it sits on my dresser hoping one day soon I will be able to wear it without my circulation getting cut off.

    Itch!!!

MIne did too, but it doesn't last long. I was too scared to put anything on it.
  10. I know one of the first things my doctor said I needed to stop doing was using a straw. So since my surgery 4 months ago I haven't. But now I am starting to wonder am I the only one? Do you use a straw? I am tired of spilling my crystal light.
  11. I am up to 5 fills and 7 cc's. I feel really not much restriction. I mean I can't eat everything I used to eat but I do feel full. from what most people say it happens at a different number for everyone but in my support group most people got that restricton between 8 and 9 cc's. I still feel hungry but not nearly as much as I did before the band.
  12. I have a protein shake made with frozen fruit. Sometimes I have soft egg whites with a little lite cream cheese mixed in. Also I have found if I drink tea or my decaf coffee first then my breakfast goes down easier.

    December Delights 2009

I am on the computer a lot and found that there are several people out there with blogs on their band journey. One of the ones said that having a blog kept her from eating poorly since she was accountable. Soooo I started one, and it is up. Follow my blog if you like, so I don't feel like all of the work was for nothing. Right now I have no one. Banded Up

what are you guys doing for exercise. I have times when I do it, then like two weeks go by and I do nothing.
  17. I started to notice my hair coming out much more and faster than normal, and then I figured I should start coutning how much Protein I was actually getting. Turns out I am only getting like 35 to 45 a day. So I need help on how to do it. I do drink a shake some days, but I can't every day. Other days I have an egg and some turkey bacon. I normally have a Protein Bar as a snack, which is 14 grams. My lunch is most of the time another 13-15 grams. What can I add in or substitute to get me up to my 60. I hate fish and cottage cheese so please don't suggest those. Any help would be appreciated, before I go bald.
  18. do you just eat the black beans by themselves? I would think that would be a little hard to get down. Do you flavor them with anything?
  19. thanks for the ideas, I do have a question, do you just cook a batch of chicken and keep it in the fridge to pull from during the day? How do you cook it?

Anyone having any trouble with getting all their protein in? I thought I was doing well but then my hair started to fall out a lot in the shower and after blowing it dry. so i started acturally counting and it looks like I am way under the 60 grams. I do a shake some mornings but I can't do one every day. Other mornings i have an egg and some turkey bacon. I bought some peanuts today and some protein bars but I still need more. Any ideas?

It has been a while since I posted but I am doing well. I have had 4 fills up to about 6 cc's. I go every few weeks. So far no real restriction but today I had a WW meal and small salad and boy was I full. I mean painfully full. I finally burped and threw up in my mouth. I hope if ever I slime I get a little more warning than that. I did get a book called Successful Weight loss surgery patients or something. Basically it said people who are 3, 5 10 years out and have lost and kept of large amounts after surgery are those that drink their Water, get 60 grams of Protein, take their Vitamins, and work out 40 minutes 4 times a week. I am still working on the workout part. I have been walking and increasing my speed but it is not consistant. I am really thinking about buying a bike so I can maybe jump on that and pedal around the neighborhood instead of just walking. I am amazed though that even after losing close to 40 pounds only a handful of people have said anything at work. The other thing that I am irriatated at is the size of my clothes. I wore a 22 before surgery and am only in a size 20 now. The 18's are just too tight still. How can that be? Losing all that weight and only one dress size? I have also been measuring myself once a month to keep track of where i have been losing and recording what my weight is each month. I am averaging a about 5 or 6 pounds a month. Slow but steady. overall I am happy I got it, and aim to have 50 pounds down by summer.
  22. I have always had a dream of running a marathon but would never tell anyone as I am so out of shape. My goal since the surgeryis to do 3 5k's this year. Right now I can only run/jog for 4 minutes then take a break then start back up again. I can do 2 miles like that before I want to die so a 5k seems pretty far off to me. Hopefully when a few more pounds come off it will be a little more in reach.
  23. I am two months post surgery and still am getting a sharp pain in my shoulder area. It is very similar to the gas pains I had right after surgery. But how can it be gas now? I get the pain at any time, sometimes lasting for a few hours. Anyone else still have this? What is it? And what if anything makes it better?
  24. Just checking up on you. Been a while since I have been on. I am having a hard time leaving my old ways behind. I have a bad day and my car seems to go on automatic pilot to taco bell. I have had 2 fills but still could eat a horse. I am down 28.
