  1. Glad we are all talking about this and seeing where everyone is now. Everytime I drink I make noises. It sort of like gurgling but it amost sounds like it is going up to my throat with the sounds. I now sleep on two pillows because on a few occassions I have burped while I was sleeping and it was scary. I can't sleep on my stomach anymore becuase of the noise.

And it doesn't matter how long it has been since I last drank. Normally I wait 2 -3 hours before I lay down.

One night I threw up probably just a little dollop but it went down the wrong pipe and I woke up coughing like crazy.

I still throw up maybe once a week if I eat too fast or don't listen to the hints my band is giving me to stop. I am terrified of getting an unfill and me gaining weight but I know I have to be too tight for all this to be happening.

I was banded in Dec 09 lost 80 pounds and would love to lose another 20.

please let us know what happens after the unfill.hopefully it will inspire me to do the same. What I hate about going to the surgeon is I have to take off work because they are only open till 4.

  3. Just wondering if you know of a clothing swap or if we could maybe do one?

I am looking for 16's and have some 22's to get rid of. I have just been wearing really big clothes and refuse to go back to work wearing the same things when I go back in a few weeks. Maybe even some 18's would fit you know how sizes vary at every store you go to.

    Let me know.

  4. I am 7 months out and my hair is completely different than before the surgery. Much thinner and when I blow it dry it is everywhere.

I started taking Biotin I read people have had some success with it. I also read people like Nioxin Shampoo which I have yet to find.

I am getting blood work done next week and hopefully that will let me know if I am lacking something.

Good for you getting 90 grams of Protein in a day that is amazing!

  5. It is hard when you start. I found to fill up my cup with ice as soon as I finish eating and then in about half an hour the ice is sort of melty and then I can drink it. Some trick I played with my mind.

In the beginning I just didn't drink because I knew I would stay fuller longer. But now that I have restriction if I drink right after a meal I will throw up.

I have other things I have learned along the way on my blog

  6. I can't do Breakfast anymore so I put Protein mix in with my coffee. It is like a hot chocolate absolutely wonderful.

lunch I might have a frozen meal if I can't think of anything, egg salad, tunasalad, chicken I made in the oven with breadcrumbs and sprayed with cooking spray, turkey and cheese wrapped together(no bread)

dinner I do whatever I make for the family.

I have lots of other things I found in my travels that are good and have high Protein on my blog.

    Check it out

  7. I flew in March 3 months after I had the band and on take off I swore I was going to die. The pressure by my port was crazy intense. I kept thinking did anyone field test the band in flight? Maybe because I ate before I got on the plane I don't know. Coming home was fine.

I just flew again last month and had no problems.

But I would call your surgeon if you are having pain, maybe it is from something else.

  8. It is kind of weird to be excited about being 190 something but I am thrilled. I just got a fill last week and it really pushed me off the 201 that I had been sitting at for weeks.

I want to shout it out from the mountain tops but people who have not been there just don't understand. This is the first time the first name on the scale has been a 1 in probably 10 years.

    Just had to share!

Also I would love some love on my blog, I started it a few months ago.

    Thanks

  9. I was terrified before my first fill too. I won't say it doesn't hurt at all because it does but like the previous poster says it is much easier than having blood taken.

The only part that hurts is the first needle to numb the area. It is a pinch and then a burn from the medicine. Like 5 seconds later they put the second needle in to fill you which doesn't hurt at all it is more like pressure. Sometimes they take all that they put in there out first to make sure you don't have a leak before they fill it up but that doesn't hurt either.

You get a little bandaid on the spot which is normally a little below your biggest scar. Sometimes it might be tender that day but nothing really to worry about.

If you want to know more about things to come come follow me on my blog. I am 6 months out and like to tell it like it is.

  10. Knapp-

having restriction means feeling a tightness in your chest after you eat a few bites of something. It can be painful. If you eat past the pain you will throwup which is not fun.

Having no restriction means you can eat whatever without getting that pain, but you will feel full much sooner than before the band.

They say you should be able to go 4 hours without feeling hungry after the band

As for me I have a realize band and now have 10 cc's I was banded in December. this last fill I got last week is the doozy and I feel everything going down even liquids. I might need to get an unfill which I really don't want but I can't get enough down now to get my Protein in.

Dr. says the manufactuer recommends 11 cc's in the band but they can put up to 23 in it!

I am hoping I will stay at 10 for a long time.

If you want to know more about the band and all that comes with me follow me on my blog

  11. I had my surgery in December and have lost 54 pounds. I know others have lost more, but I didn't have to do a preop diet so all the weight is from after the surgery.

I started a blog in May and would love you to follow me and find out all about life with a lapband. I tell you like it is, foods that work and foods that don't. How it feels to have restriction and what a fill feels like.

so if you want the real deal, come follow me on my blog. I would love the support.

  12. I am enjoying being able to wear shorts for the first time in about ten years. I have been wearing very long capris almost down to my ankles for years to hide my legs. I can fit into most 16's but there are some 18's that still give me trouble. Why I don't know.

I just hit 199 today and am thrilled but no I am going to have to work harder now to continue to lose. I have to step up my activity level big time.

I just got a fill and hopefully won't have to get one for a while. I am now at 10 cc's in an 11 cc band. Doctor isn't worried about me being so fulll so quickly she says we can always put in more. But I am really feeling restriction now.

I started a blog a few months ago and that keeps me somewhat motivated. I would love any of my December bansters to follow me.

  13. Viv- great for you on the exercising. I am hoping I get into it soon. Once school is finally over and I can take the kids to daycare I am hoping I will have some time to myself to get into the exercise habit. Right now I am just too tired when I come home and getting up early is not happening. even though I have more energy from before the surgery taking 30 minutes of uninterupted time just doesn't seem in the plans right now. I know I am worth it, but I am not up long after I put the kids to bed, and tv normally beats working out.

for the sweet tooth I found sugar free fudgesicles help me. Just enugh to make it seem like you are gettting something sweet but only liike 40 calories.

I still enjoy food and it isn't a chore just yet. Hoping this next fill takes the thrill away for me.

I get worried since I will be at 8 cc's in a 10 cc band so quickly what happens whenthe band is full for the rest of my life. I don't want to go back in 2 years to me being able to eat everything again. Does anyone else think of that.

I have been looking online and so many people seem to hit 100 pounds in ayear, I am dreaming of that. I can't even wrap my brain around what it would be like to be 150 pounds this year. I'd be happy with 80.

  14. don't let the commercial fool you they don't look that good in real life.

I went there last week for one and they take an english muffin then take an egg white about the size of an IHOP pancake and cut it into four. They put one of the quarters on the muffin throw on a slice of ham and a peice of cheese and toast it. then they put on some onions and peppers. So the onions and peppers are cold and raw and the muffin really isn't toasted.

I thought it was kind of dry, but of course I ate it. Would I get another one? Probably not.

  15. I was supposed to be on liquids for 2 weeks but then after reading all the people on here who had a doctor that said a week was ok, I started mushy food after a week also.

So like soft scrambled eggs, chili that I mushed up and stuff like that.

I didn't have a problem just eat slow.

I also found lots of blogs online to follow from fellow bandsters and I started one too. Follow me the link is below.

  16. Oh gosh this all sounds so scary. I go in next week for another fill I am t 7 now, and I know when you get up in those numbers you get close to restriction. I'm glad you got it fixed and worked out.

I have no restriction and feel like I could eat a horse, so I want to get filled well so I don't eat too much and mess up all my weight loss. but I really don't want to have to get too full that I am in pain.

  17. I got banded about 4 months ago and sort of felt like I was going this alone. So many people have inspired me when I come on here and see their progress but I had no one keeping me on track. My husband has been the same weight since I met him over 20 years ago, and my teenage daughter has always been against my surgery. She says I am just lazy taking this way out.

Anyway I started a blog a few days ago, to get my feelings out and record my progress along the way. But right now I only have a few people following me which makes me once again feel like I am all alone here.

If you have a minute can you follow me on my blog to keep me inspired on my mission to stay on track.
