    Coffee???

I was a huge coffee drinker before surgery, but doctor said decaf only. don't know why but I listened and switched to decaf a month before surgery. So now instead of 3 - 4 cups of coffee a day I drink one decaf in the morning with sugar. That I coudn't give up.
  2. I had my first fill this week. Wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Hopefully it will help with the loss. He said I was doing well but to continue to workout. So are you getting in 64 oz of water a day? How do you manage that? I am drinking water but it is probably more like 32 oz a day. I am frustrated at how slow this is going.

  3. Hi I just saw you were banded in Delaware, I was too by Dr. Irgau last month. How is it going? When did you get your first fill? Did you weight come off faster once you were filled because I am dying here not really seeing any results and being so hungry.

    Thanks

    Heidi

  4. Hi everyone, I am newly banded and know that medicines we can take is restricted. I have a terrible cold and really want to take some decongestants. I have on my medical alert band 'no nsaids' which I don't know wht that means. But when I read the back of the advil cold bottle it said contains NSAIDs. So I figure I can't take it? Does anyone take anything for a cold? I don't think I can handle work tomorrow like this.
  5. Hi again,

How is it going? How are you losing? I am stuck at 18 for about a week. You would think it would just be falling off since I am eating 1/2 of what I used to eat. I have been starting to walk too, about 25 minutes every other day.

  6. I was banded 12/22 and I know I have another 3 weeks before I can get a fill. I am hungry and doing my best not to eat anything that will make me gain any of the weight I lost back. But I have been stuck at this weight for a week now. I do feel full after I eat but it doesn't last as long as I would like.

Ugh, my stomach is so swollen =[

I had my surgery on 12/22 and the upper part of my stomach is hard and swollen. I went today for my first checkup. I told her my concern, she said she could hear all the gas in the upper part of my belly. She recommended malox, and said it could be another 3 weeks. Size 16 is like amazing even if my swellilng went down I wouldn't be able to put anything except my toes in a size 16.
  8. I am with you but my drink of choice was diet coke. Now I don't know if this is true but it scared me. My doctor said if I were to continue to drink diet soda like I used to (4 a day) it would erode my band. That hit home and I now I don't think about it as much. I don't want to go through the surgery again.

    Christmas 09 192

wow look how skinny your face is!
  11. I am still sore too and the sleeping on the back is annoying like you said. I went back to work today and it wasn't that bad, although I am really tired now.

I started eating soft things I couldn't take the shakesall day anymore. I saw so many peopole that siad they were on reg food I said I will just start slowly.

  12. Hi Liz,

It looks like we were banded on the same day. I am out of the woods so to speak feeling much better but tired of the shakes. My doctor says a month of liquids and purees. What are you eating now. I have lost 16 pounds but have been stuck there for the last 3 days so I am getting a little frustrated too.

  13. I want to eat everything I see but not because of hunger just because I am used to eating everything. I am not really hungry most of the time but I do get hungry around noon and then again at 8. Are you worreid about not getting enough caloires in?

  14. just checking up on you. how are you feeling? I was banded on the 22nd and still feeling the gas and soreness. did you manage to get in your liquids?

  15. thought I would give you a food suggestion. Add splenda to your cream of wheat. Also i heated up ricotta cheese and spaghetti sauce in the microwave for a minute. delish!

  16. I think everyones fear is hairloss. Now when you said you always got your protein in and you still lost it that is concerning. I am one week out and not getting my protein in each day since I just can't drink that much so I am really worried. When you say it was falling out did you have like patches people could see? Or was it thinner? Because my hair is pretty thin already.
  17. Hello,

Just wondering how you are doing getting all your liquids in. I am struggling to get 64 in as the doctor said and I think I might be getting in 25 oz a day.

    I was banded the 22nd.

  18. part 2

I have been getting the hiccup thing after I am full which is shocking because sometimes it comes after I have only had a few sips. I still don't think I am getting 32 ounces down I do a little more each day but not 32.

I am taking those vitaband vitamins not the best tasting things in the world. What kind do you take?

  19. I had a hernia repaired also which I didn't know I had too. But a gallbladder I can't believe you are walking around. I do feel much better today but I do not bend over because that hurts so not much cleaning going on here. Today the kids are coming back from my parents so tomorrow we will back full swing that is going to be a change. Today I had ricotta cheese with spaghetti sauce and then put it in the microwave for a minute. Yum. I am not a big yogurt fan so I don't know if I could do the cottage cheese thing.

Yesterday at 7'oclock I figured I had had only 350 calories and felt like crap. So on the way home I bought a peppermint shake and added some protein to it. I just needed something in me that I could drink. It was sooo good.

Today I also made black bean soup and cream of wheat. I wanted to go one full day without a shake I just needed a break.

I said I was going to get on the treadmill for 10 minutes but that didn't happen I'll try and do it tomorrow.

  20. Wow 23 pounds is fantastic! I am down 15 now. Yesterday I got my 64 grams of protein in for the first time but I think I am just about 600 calories a day if that.

I really try to keep drinking all day but I read somewhere that when you hiccup your pouch is full and to stop. And wouldn't you know after a few sips I hiccup and I get than pain in my breast/collar bone area. So I know I am not getting in 64 oz of liquid a day. I think I can do 3 ounces an hour so how I am supposed to get it all down in one day?

As far as exercise I can't even think about it yet too much pain. Probably walking once I feel better then I do have all the stuff for the Wii which I bought before the surgery to doand I never did. I will probably make that part of my routine. I just don't know when in my day I would do it. With 2 little ones running around I have to make sure my hubby is home to watch them and get them out of my way or it won't be worth getting dressed for the workout.

  21. I made a scrambeled egg last night very soft and was fine.
  22. you look fantastic and so chic with the coat! I love it.

    December Delights 2009

BeckyC73 I was banded on 12/21, so I am 5 days out. My incisions are fine and I haven't taken any pain meds since the day after, but no pain. Yet, I'm miserable most of the time so far. I'm freaking hungry (probably head hunger) and full liquids are not satisfying. I get "full" but the hunger doesn't go away. I think I want to CHEW something.... I'm not getting as much liquid or protein as I'm supposed to, but it just seems like I can't get enough down..... I don't want to be a bummer to my family at Christmas, but sometimes I just want to cry. Probably doesn't help that I can't get my depression meds down. I dread taking any of my meds because they taste disgusting and half the time I throw them up (and get to taste them again)! ... Oh, and my breath is GROSS tasting and smelling. My mom asked me if I farted yesterday, but it was my breath. And I'm burping all the time..... I knew it was going to be hard, but I didn't know it was going to be this hard, this fast.... Okay, I'm sorry for this tirade, but I needed to complain to somebody who might be able to understand. Anybody else go through thiS? How long did it last? I'm supposed to be on full liquids for another 8 days, then purees and mushies for two more weeks. How am I going to make it through this? --- When I was going through my preop phase the nutritionist said that bad breath is going to be an issue because we are not chewing real food for so long. she sugguested using a tounge scraper and floss to help with calming the stench. I bought one before surgery and am getting ready to pull it out and start using it. My mouth feels like a squirrel died in it.
  24. Hi,

Looks like we had surgery on the same day. How are you feeling? I am still having lots of pain in my shouler/neck area. I am trying to get enough liquids in but am worried about drinking too fast and having more pain.

Are you swollen? My stomach is bigger now than before I went into surgery and according to the scale I lost 13 pounds. Where I lost them from I have no idea.

  25. Why are eggs not a good idea after surgery? I had my surgery on the 22nd and on our list of food is eggs in the mushie stage. You can't possibly be stomach hungry your body just went through a huge change, your stomach is swollen. All those noises going on in your belly are not 'growling'. Not if you are only a week out. You are head hungry and I totally understand. I have no desire to eat real food but yesterday when I saw powdered donuts at my parents house I just wanted to lick the outside and let it dissolve in my mouth. You start makng all kinds of logic in your head on why it wouldn't be a solid food if it dissolves, and how you haven't eaten much in a week and how you can't possibly survive on the little you have eaten so far. But you can't do it. As my husband says "that is the old you, this is the new you" You have to totally change your way of thinking and realize the only way to make a physical change is by starting mentally. We have all played the head games already on every diet we started and failed so many times. My concern is that you are starting this journey with just trying to eat a little less. This is a huge deal, this is the last straw, this surgery is saying you can't do it on your own and are not like the rest of the world when it comes to eating. Don't waste this opportunity to start a new life and feel all its benefits. If you continue with how you have started out you will be one of the people who get a band and only lose 20 pounds. Sorry if I am blunt and I am by no means an expert but I can't see anyone going through all the trouble and pain of the surgery and then throw it all away.
