    April Dates

I had gotten allergies a few weeks ago that turned into a cold that seemed to get better for a few days then suddenly got worse and turned into an upper respiratory infection. On antibiotics now. Hope I am all cleared up soon or they will not do surgery...

My fluid has been out of my lap band for three weeks so I have been eating sushi like crazy because I could not eat sushi at all with the band.

    April Dates

Just ordered my last meal before my one week liquid diet... sushi! I know this is something I will never be able to eat again, because the bites are too big...
  5. I told my in-laws yesterday. A few of them were happy because I was happy, but my husband aunt kind of attacked me that I'm too young to make permanent changes to my body like that. I told her I feel completely justified. I may be 24, but my relatives are dying before the age of 50 due to obesity related health issues. So to me I am halfway through my life and I am not happy with that. When I explained that and the medical conditions I have she seemed to understand more.
  6. I was 145lbs when I graduated high school in 2006 here I am 7 years later and a little over 100 lbs heavier. I gained weight very quickly when I moved out of my parents. My dad's side is all very large people and they all gained the weight when hey turned 18 so I fell into that. My mom was always yoyo dieting and had my family on one with her growing up, but when she would break it she would bring home cake and icecream and nachos for dinner, and it was awesome. So when I moved out, I just ate the awesome foods...
  7. Hit send by accident. The mushroom one was an Atkins recipe. I saw another in a gluten free cookbook that used ground beef for the crust. One of my friends has been making crust out of cauliflower and said it is a pretty good pizza. I think she found that recipe online. I am not sure I can live with no pizza forever, so hopefully the bypass will help me make those changes but maybe I can settle for cauliflower crust pizza.
  8. I can tell you two recipes I have seen. One was a mini pizza made with a Portobello mushroom as the crust
  9. With my band I only told my closest friends and relatives. I did not want anyone to know. Now I am getting close to my bypass and I have told everyone and they are surprised to hear I have the band and that I had it for 2 years without telling anyone. Of course I will still not tell someone like from high school if I run into them randomly, because I have been able to avoid people from then after I gained weight, but after I lose the weight, I don't want them to ever know I was fat.
  10. I am nervous if I will know if I am dumping or not. I have bad reactive hypoglycemia and that and dumping have the same symptoms but different cures. I feel better if I eat something when I have a hypoglycemia fit, but dumping, you need to rest and not eat right?

    Food as fuel...

My mom always says nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels. She stays pretty thin, but gains weight occasionally and can pull back the reins. I also had tried a "not diet" called the naturally slim program. They had a lot of good ideas. They said that thin people enjoy food and heavy people do not. Watch a naturally skinny person eat and you will see they eat slowly and savor the food. Heavy people just shove the food in their mouth and barely chew it before they swallow. It will take a skinny person 20 minutes to eat the same thing it takes for a heavy person to eat in 7 minutes. It takes 20 minutes for the chemicals from your stomach to ghetto you brain, so the skinny person will get full and not eat the entire meal but a heavy person will eat the whole meal and want desert because the do not know they are full yet.
  12. Lol I was like that one week after the band. Pizza is my favorite food. I'm hoping the bypass will make me dislike it.

    So confused sbout birth control!

Well during college (4 years) i gained 100 lbs. I was not on the depo till my second year of college and had already gained 50 lbs on my own so I don't blame the depo for the next 50 lbs. My mom and my aunt are on it too but their weight always fluctuates. My aunt took the first shot and gained 10 lbs during that first three months (keep in mind she was hard core dieting and had just lost 30 lbs and broke the diet). She decided to not have the next shot and her PMS and cramps came back after one month and so she took the next shot lol. She said 10 lbs was worth not being crazy.

    So confused sbout birth control!

I have been on the depo for six years and my mom has been on it for 9 years. I love the depo. It really evened out my moods and I have not had a period since the second shot I got.... so pretty much in six years. I have never been calcium deficient but occasionally crave calcium rich foods. I have not had the bypass yet though. I have had the lap band for two years. I have been vitamin d deficient not sure it's was the depo or because I don't go outside often. After five years they suggest bone density scanning because of the possible calcium deficiency, but if you are not low then there is no reason to get a scan. I love my depo. They say you can gain 8 lbs from it. I feel the weight I gained while on it was my poor food choices. Trust me, the depo did not make me eat whole appetizers plus salad, breadsticks, a meal and desert at every restaurant I went to... my fault...

I ordered unjury because i heard it is the most tolerable after sutgery. Protein drink have not bothered me before, but some are foamy and I did not think that would go down well.

    Sex

My hubby and I have gotten less adventurous in the bedroom. We have been married five years and have been together 8. He quit going down on me because I would make him brush his teeth before I would kiss him again. I quit going down on him because we both seem to just want sex and skip the foreplay. Our foreplay is a tickle fight that ends up naked lol. I want to know how soon after surgery I will be able to have sex, but I am also worried about some people getting preggers immediately and I don't want kids at all, so don't want that! I definitely have a high sex drive and don't know how long I can wait!

My preop is tomorrow... so excited!
  22. I have not had my bypass yet and I have seen people lose weight quickly and slowly. It seems to be good if you are losing about 20 lbs per month. You don't see a lot of people lose more than 100 lbs in the first six months. Seems like you are on track according to what I've been seeing.

    Tiny pants

My biggest worry is being motivated enough to work out. Between sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, depression and fibromyalgia I am exhausted and feel beat down everyday. On top of that my parents used exercise as a punishment when I was young. I will have spurts where I will work out for two weeks and then have a bad day and stop. I'm hoping the weightloss will help boost me to want to work out. How soon after surgery did you start exercising?
