  1. I like the Special K Protein & some of the kashi flavors. I eat Kashi a few times a week cause it seems to keep me full the longest of any Breakfast type food. For me, I'm mindful of carbs but am not neurotic about them, but only do whole grains. I've lost 80 pounds at 6 months. I also eat one serving of fresh fruit a day, and have a 2nd snack of either cut up fresh tomatoes or a third of a red bell pepper every day, all,of which are carbs. I stick with hi nutrient value carbs, and for me, none of them have been a gateway. Plus, the Kashi, fruit & veggies help with the all important Fiber intake!

  2. I had relentless completely liquid diarrhea 8-12 times a day for almost 6 weeks. It was awful, thought my life was over cause I couldn't be far from a bathroom. I was also very weak from so much diarrhea-although the weight really fell off me in those days!! Not c-diff. Everyone tests for it, but c-diff is not an everyday occurrence. My diarrhea did not improve till I started using benefiber, several teaspoons a day. I'm finally OK now, sometimes even go a few days w/o a BM! I am very careful to take in lots of fiber & don't need the benefiber anymore, but it was a life saver.

  3. I am 17 weeks out from RNY today. I've lost 65 pounds, my goal is to lose 132, maybe a bit more. I'm worried though, because for the second half of the 17 weeks I'm only losing a pound or two a week. Some weeks nothing. At this rate I won't lose what I need to lose during my malabsorption window. I get about 800 cals/day, all my Protein & Water. I religiously track my food & exercise, don't cheat at all, although I do have some whole grain carbs daily, so I'm not carb free. I do cardio 4-6 X a week & do weights every other gym visit. I was a complete couch potato PRE op (in my defense I have MS which makes me very tired & morbid obesity did not help), so I know I'm building lean muscle which weighs heavier. I guess I'm just discouraged & making myself insane. My intellectual brain knows that I've gone from a size 28 to an 18-20 in 17 weeks but it's been another week with nothing lost. So discouraging!! Am I crazy & I should just shut up & be grateful?

  4. OP-I empathize with your anxiety. My RNY was March 11, 2013, and I am down 61 pounds. BUT, in the past 6 weeks I've only lost 1-3 pounds a week. It is not melting off. But, I feel better due to all the e excise I am now able to do, and my size clothing size is moving down at a steady pace because I am exercising. So try to stay positive. It will come off at your own pace. Just keep eating right, try to exercise. It is really hard but try not to worry about others are losing and don't obsess over the scale. I struggle with that advice on a daily basis!

  5. I don't think that's slow lose at all! I'm at 33 and today is 2 months post op. I think your doing great!

Thanks Dorian. I guess I'm a bit bummed because I only lost 10 pounds in month 3. Now, 10 pounds a month is far more than I would have been able to do without the surgery, it just means that I will be close to 18 months before I. Near goal, and, of course, the weight loss pace tapers off over time, which will just slow me down ore eventually. But I'm very happy I had the surgery!
