What ya eating tonight?
ArmyOfMe replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. I bought the Tyson chicken breast but I like Perdue better. Leaner and less fat on the edges. -
Ask for the meds in liquid form. Your surgeon should be able to give you proper info. on this. I was prescribed pain meds in liquid form and boy, do they work.

Hell no, nothing wrong with it ... Absolutely normal to want what skinny by nature people enjoy without being burdened by obesity. You deserve just as much happiness and to feel good about yourself as they do.

water making me sick!
ArmyOfMe replied to Crkrjax76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm ..... different surgeon, different requirements. I was also given cups of ice chips while in the rec room. Pre-op, I could only drink room temp Water. I loved it that way. Post-op? Only cold water, shakes, etc. Everything rests in the fridge now. Though, I wonder why you are not allowed anything cold for so long. Time to Google. Hehe -
I take Melatonin right now but it's not helping much. I forgot about Unisom. Took that occasionally during pregnancy but half a pill only. I doubt it will do any good atm. My RNY buddy also suggested Benadryl. Guess I'll give it a try in liquid form. Wish we could live off of liquid Lortab. That stuff is relaxing. Anyhoochy, I'm awake again while everyone including the K9s are snoring. Pitiful! =))

Crockpot BBQ pulled chicken. Added red onion rings for extra sweetness. Didn't eat much but my taste buds were humping each other. -
I had some of that Gorton's frozen shrimp 3 weeks ago (I'm 2+ mo out) and it was ok. Had a bit of discomfort for about 30-45 min which happens after each of my non-liquid meals anyways. Steak no. I don't eat beef at all. Can't stand it.

Yes, but only in soup and will not try it again. Corn cannot be digested, it does not break down because we lack the necessary enzyme to do so. It will stay in your pouch as it is until you eliminate it. Though, I've read from other RNY folk that they could tolerate it in small amounts. Personally, corn is on my black list.

I get to face some bullies today
ArmyOfMe replied to music1618's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
J, have you ever seen on TV that particular KIA commercial and the gorgeous lady who comes out of it and steps on the red carpet to the reunion? Listen to the short narration as they show the car. THAT lady will be you! -

Congrats!!! -
Hahaha ... I love people's happy dance when they discover the Laughing Cow wedges. Aren't they delish? I have been eating LC wedges pre-op and I'm sooo glad we can have them post-op. Doesn't bother my pouch either. I now buy them in family size. Lasts forever in the fridge.

I'm doing alright, as well. Stalling like nobody's business but I am very patient. I'll get there when it's intended. Been a bit irresponsible with my Protein and Vitamin intake but trying to slap myself out of it. Other than that, eating normal foods but most days it's a chore. Glad to hear y'all are doing well, tho!

Just wondering how long everyone had their drain if any...ty
ArmyOfMe replied to vicki s's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did not have one. I feel for those who had to put up with one of those pesky things. I can sympathize with the discomfort. Not related to WLS but I had a Wound Vac placed on me. I was in tears. -
Why did you choose RNY instead of sleeve?
ArmyOfMe replied to rocknrollmama1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my case it was very simple: G-band was not a fit for my situation. I was diagnosed as morbidly obese and the band would have failed lamentably. I also move every 3-4 years which was a no go with my surgeon. Next: Tricare does not approve the sleeve procedure (been told that by their Rep and read their full Bariatric section). There are some MTFs that do it but I rarely hear/read about it, so I don't know how accurate that info is. I was left with RNY as my only and most ideal option which I am beyond happy with. -
You are not alone. Even after WLS, my insomnia is just as bad. I feel tired all the time but cannot sleep to save my life. Been always like this, tho.

Lost for words...
ArmyOfMe replied to Work in progress 33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Holy shit! I am so sorry you had such a rotten day. The break-in takes the cake. I can't imagine how upset and heartbroken you must be. I sure hope things get better, much better for you and your family. I'll keep you in my prayers! -
Call your surgeon. Better be safe than sorry.

How's everyone doing today?
-
Oh yeah ... I'm a walking and breathing Popsicle, as well. Ever since surgery, I turn into an icicle and can't regulate my body temperature while everyone around me sweats in their pants. I have two damn blankets in the living room, at night, I sleep under a military blanket (curtesy of my husband) and still cold as a corpse. Can't win!

Constipation is a MOTHER!
ArmyOfMe replied to PrettyMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just watch out for fecal impaction. That one is your biggest concern if you don't get relief soon. Suppositories are the most effective for heavy constipation. -
Glad I found the Sleepy Group because I sure fit in. 2+ months out and I could hug a bear during winter time and catch some zzzZzzzzz snuggled next to him. Yeah ... That energy burst must have passed me by 50 light years at ludicrous speed.

I don't have PCOS but periods after WLS are evil. Heavy, long and just altogether aggravating. From what I have been reading and what my surgeon mentioned at the seminar, PCOS and infertility improve considerably after WLS.

Congrats!
