  1. Congratulations to everyone! I'm checking in and just so excited - I have actually not only reached my goal but passed it!! I'm now 118 and a size 2! Who would've thought? Even more exciting is I don't have a ton of loose skin- a lil in my face, but not a ton.while this journey started out pretty tough- not compared to some of you warriors- but so worth it! My husband is now inspired to work out- not liking the attention I seem to be getting now! Lol.

It's great to hear the progress from so many familiar names!

  2. Th Hair loss is getting out of control. I pray it stops soon. Prior to surgery I had hypothyroidism hair loss, and it was starting to come back and now this. Pretty soon, I won't have any hair left at all. I'm a MOH next month and I hope I have enough hair for the pictures.

Next problem: what is everyone doing for Breakfast? I drink my coffee, so I'm too full to eat, but am usually ready to eat an hour later, but I'm on the go by then. Aside, from Protein bars/shakes, anyone have any suggestions?

  3. Am I reading this wrong? You lost 35 lbs and are almost at goal and you had surgery on March 8' date=' 2013??[/quote']

No, you aren't reading this wrong. I was obese with a BMI of 33, but I had many health problems that needed to be taken care of- the least of which I survived a rare form of thyroid cancer which led to many other issues and my continued weight gain was exacerbating them all. The lack of a thyroid was wreaking havoc on many things. My doctors and I thought this was the best course of action to alleviate some of my issues. While I don't have 100 pounds to lose like some, I have been cheering for everyone and going through many of the same bumps as everyone else.

  4. Great to hear so many of you are doing so well! It's an amazing feeling I won't lie. Are any of you able to pickup something that weighs the same amount you have lost? Great point of reference to actually feel what you where carrying around with you everyday.

I am officially now only 2 ounces overweight! I am not yet at my goal weight as I have 12 pounds to go. I have lost 35 pounds. I had my surgery on 3/08. I was feeling down about the weight loss to that long ago and my sister in law remarked, " you have lost a small person!" It was then that I realized I was doing pretty great!

  5. Good luck to all our end of the month Marchies. This is the last week and then we are all in the post op thread!! I wish you all nothing but a breezy recovery- dont snicker- many on the Losers bench had it pretty nice. I suffered a bit, but its all worth it. I pray for zero suffering:-) :-). There are going to be quite a few hotties in the very near future-male and female!!:-)

  6. Ok-I'm a lil freaked out. I lost 15 pounds first week and I have lost NOTHING the second week. Please tell me I didn't do this for nothing??!! I was at a wedding last night - the most beautiful food and drinks served all night. Of course, I ate the mashes potatoes and creamed spinach, but I forwent all the yummy goodness. Now, I'm wondering if I'm gong to be that one person that loses Nothing. I have no thyroid and wonder if its still wrecking my life! It's the reason I had surgery! I take my meds and my numbers are good.uggggghhhh. Feeling frustrated and a lil worried!

  7. You'll get a big AMEN from me on that too. I have been so gassy today' date=' finally passed a bunch and had a BM. My stomach is very loud. It growls ALL the time. Walking has helped but as soon as I put food in there, the noise starts again. I had my husband pick up Dannon lite and fit yogurt today but noticed it has 10g of sugar. I am nervous to try it, I can only have 2tbsp so I am hoping it will be alright but any input is appreciated.[/quote']

I eat the Dannon Light n fit Greek yogurt- has twice the Protein and less sugar. However I was given the rule of thumb to avoid anything more than 12-14 g of sugar per sitting.

  8. Ok, I'm now11 days post op. everything is fine EXCEPT I wake up with terrible nausea that lasts for hours. Sometimes Protein helps, but it doesn't go away until afternoon. Not sure why, but feels like pregnancy all over again! I've already lived that 4 times, don't need to do that again! Is anyone else still battling nausea? Seems like the best cure is sleep, but I'm back at work and - ain't nobody got time for that! Lol. Anybody got any ideas? My surgeon just ki da nodded his sexy head and said its normal, but doesn't sound too normal since I can't find anyone experiencing the same thing! Help!

  9. For my friends farther out: how long does the back and shoulder pain last? My abdomen is not sore' date=' I am not really nauseous, but my back is killing me. Any tips or tricks?[/quote']

HEATING PAD, HEATING PAD, HEATING PAD!! This has probably been the biggest lifesaver so far- my back was killing me- for days, but almost instant relief with that. I used it often and I can't even tell you how much it helped!

  10. My EGD went well. Throat is a little sore. He did a biopsy. He told me that I told him all about my week and some other stuff when I was coming off the anesthesia' date=' lol... I said you better tell me!! He said he couldn't do that, but that he would definitely have to call my husband later tonight and have a talk with him. Lol.... Oh boy.... he said they call it the "truth serum" Lol.[/quote']

Well, now you got me wondering about what I may have said. No tellin' with me!!

  11. It finally happened. I cried. I keep telling myself no regrets...no regrets....but dang it sometimes a girl just wants to be able to eat fried chicken and fart. Ughh...sorry about that visual. I suppose this horrendous left sided belly pain will be around a few more days. Any advice getting through "hell week"?

I'm not sure i have any exact advice for hell week, but on day 4 I had almost a night and day change for the better. I'm day 6 right now, and feel great- a little weak and shaky maybe from lack of food, but otherwise good!!

The pain meds I was given didn't really help, but the anti-inflammatories did a smidgen of help. For the gas and bloating, I'm downing gas x and papaya enzymes. Seems to be helping a lil with that. Good luck!!!

  12. I started Stage 2 Puréed Foods today. I've had Greek yogurt' date=' ricotta cheese with marinara sauce & melted mozzarella, and cottage cheese. I'm planning to have retried Beans with melted mozzarella, low fat sour cream & salsa for dinner. It's so great to finally eat something!

RNY Surgery 2/28/13. Starting Weight: 296 Day of Surgery Weight: 274. Current Weight 262 - Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk[/quote']

Frankly, that sounds delicious!! I'm still stuck on this disgustingly unfulfilling liquid diet!!! I'm open week post op on Friday.

  13. I just got cleared to stage 2' date=' full liquids and soft puréed foods with baby foods and blended stuff.

I am definitely smaller but I'm still very swollen and my clothes got smaller with my pre op diet so I'm still enjoying that but in the next day or 2, at this rate, I should be below my pre surgery weight by Friday, which is 40lbs less than I was 8 weeks ago :) I am now 1 week post op and I'm still managing discomfort and gas but that is all so easy to deal with.

So happy you are happy with your progress!![/quote']

Thanks Gurlygirl, I have my post op tomorrow. I'm praying I'll be released to Stage 2 also.

Congrats on your progress so far!! That's amazing.

  14. Ok, I have a few things for y'all:

    1. What kind of post op diet are you on?

I'm on a strict clear liquid diet week 1, liquid week 2, mushies week 3/4, week 5 soft foods, and week 6 regular diet. But it seems like some of you are already doing soft foods?

    2. Also, feeling really low-energy and extreme difficulty sleeping- anyone else?

    3. More of a woohoo!-- I don't know the number yet, but I have visibly lost weight. My face is slimmer, my back jelly roll is gone and I no longer look 6 months prego. It's visible and kinda excited. BTW- I'm 5 days post op! Oh and my shorts sag :-)
