  1. @@checkmeowt I really wanted to try an IUD but my gyno didn't want me to for some reason. Since this birth control isn't working either I think I'm going to push for an IUD unless there is a medical reason why I shouldn't get one. I'm ready for my life to return to normal. I talked to my gastric bypass physician assistant and she didn't have anything new to add. She just told me that weight loss and hormonal changes can cause these problems and to keep working with my gyno. :(

  2. @@checkmeowt Hi thanks for the reply. They've checked my hormone levels and they seem to be okay. I actually need birth control because without it my cycles are horrible. Heavy and lots of pain. I see my gastric bypass doctor this Friday and I'm going to bring it up then. I need something that works without reeking havoc on my life. I don't know if kids are even on the table for me, but like you I don't want to mess up the chance either.

  3. I love the fact that you're fighting this and not giving up. Please know that you're not alone. I gained back 29 pounds that I'd lost and felt the same way. I'd already ruined my shot at this so why bother. But I'm trying my best to get back on track. I believe you can do this. You're determined now and that will take you far. Good luck!!

  4. I'm hoping someone here may have a clue since my doctor and I are stumped. I had gastric bypass surgery in 2012. For 8 years before that I'd been using a Nuva Ring to help regulate my periods. They had been heavy and irregular. It worked great. Then after my weight loss it stopped working. My periods became irregular and heavy again and it got to the point where I was having one every two weeks (with them sometimes lasting for two weeks at a time)! My doctor switched me to Seasonique. That was an epic failure. It was 10 times worse. My periods were so heavy and the cramping was so bad that it made me feel physically sick. And once it lasted for almost 3 weeks. So we switched again to another pill Generess FE. That seemed better. My periods were still irregular but I only had one a month and then only for 3 days at a time. That lasted for 7 months. Now the problem is back. My periods are starting two weeks after they stop and sometimes lasting for two weeks at a time again. I've had blood work done, I've had an ultrasound, and several pelvic exams. I'm healthy. But my doctor thinks that after my weight loss my hormones got out of whack and are causing this problem that we can't seem to find a fix for. Has anyone else run into problems with birth control after weight loss? Anyone have any suggestions? I'm frustrated and at a loss. I'm 34 and I'm trying to plan my life around my unpredictable, out of control menstrual cycle.

  5. Thanks so much. I came back to this site because of all the support that's readily available here. I saw the pouch test online just two days ago. I'm going to give it a shot. It definitely can't hurt. And anything that help me get back on track I'd worth a shot. I think I'll try it next week. It's easier for me to not think about food when I'm at work. When I'm not busy I feel the hunger more than I do when I'm at work. Thanks for the encouragement and the tip!

  6. Hi Everyone,

I had gastric bypass surgery on 11/4/2012. I weighed 242 pounds at my heaviest (I'm 5 foot 2). I managed to lose quite a bit of weight and got down to 156 pounds. My goal weight was (and still is) 145lbs. Then I started gaining. First it was 5lbs. Then 10lbs. Finally I'd gained 30 pounds and topped out at 184 pounds. I felt like I had wasted my one shot at this. For me it was a combination of things. First was disappointment. I'd lost a lot of weight but not enough from my midsection. I had people asking if I was pregnant. I was smaller all over with this round belly. I couldn't get rid of it and started to think: "Why try?". Then the depression started. I have bipolar disorder and spiraled into a depressive state that I couldn't get out of. I ate everything and anything. I drank sugary drinks, drank with my meals, quit taking my Vitamins, and just gave up. I couldn't do it because I no longer cared. Finally my doctor and I found the right combination of meds and it was like waking up. I was alert and in a positive mood and could finally see what I'd done to myself. 30 pounds in one year. So I started over. Since then I've managed to lose 9 pounds mainly by changing my diet. I started slow. Fix a plate of food something I'd normally eat. Eat half of it. Put the fork down. Now I'm watching what I eat. I cut out all of the drinks but Water (occasionally I'll have fruit juice 1/2 juice 1/2 water), no sugary Snacks, no salty ones either. I've started exercising again. I'm eating my Protein and taking my vitamins. I'm trying. It's hard. But I've managed to lose 9 pounds so far and I'm down to 175 again. I think that I've streched my pouch. I'm almost completely positive that I have but there's nothing I can do about that now. All I can do is try my best. I'm hoping I can drop another 10 pounds pretty quickly. Then I think it will get hard and I'll start to have to fight for every pound. But, I did this to myself. So I've got to start over and get to where I want to be. I almost wasted my one shot. But I'm starting over.

  7. Same here! At my 6 week appointment I cried my eyes out. I hadn't lost any weight. I had gained muscle and lost fat percentage but I was devastated. I'm now 3 months out (well I will be as of 2/5) and have lost a total of 46 pounds. It will come, it may not seem like it now but soon you'll see it start to melt away. Keep your head up!

  8. Hi All,

I'm new here. I had my RNY on 11/5/12. Had a few mishaps but for the most part all is well. My question is this: Has anyone found that they are just not interested in eating? I am supposed to get in between 800 and 1000 calories a day but I never want to eat. Even when I'm hungry I just don't want to eat. I feel like I'm force feeding myself. I take 2 or 3 bites and want to push my plate away no matter what the food is. Drinking is fine I can drink all day without issue. Any suggestions?
