  1. Tomorrow morning, 8am, can't wait! I'm so ready for this, but I'm also nervous. I'm glad to see everyone whose already had their surgery in Feb is doing well. Can't wait to be over with this and start my new path.
  2. I did the same, asked my husband to go, he was all like, "you don't need surgery, you can do it yourself" and by the end of the seminar, he understood and has been great support for me. I'm sure your husband will come around and see its the best thing for YOU. Good luck with your surgery!
  3. Glad to hear everything went well!
  4. It was nice because yesterday was my daughter's birthday and I was able to have dinner with her.
  5. I'm on day 5 of my pre-op liquid diet. My doctor has me drink 5 shakes a day from Bariatric Advantage (www.bariatricadvantage.com). He did give me 4 'meal tickets' during this 2 week time period though where I can replace one of the shakes with a sensible meal consisting of a lean protein, a non-starchy veg, and a whole-grain starch. I've lost 6lbs so far, and it's getting me in the habit of only being able to drink my meals for the next month or so.
  6. Mine is clear liquids first day post op and then pureed liquids for about a month after that, then advancing to soft food for another 2-3 months. Guess it depends on the doctors.
  7. Starting day 4 of liquid diet...scale this morning told me I lost 6 pounds so far...hoping it isn't lying to me!
  8. Wow, that's amazing! Good job
  9. I tried adding ice, but don't like the texture in the end. I mix it with 6 oz skim milk, shake it in my Blender Bottle, and then add a few whole ice cubes. It keeps it cold long enough to get it down. I'm thinking of adding cinnamon to the vanilla one to give it a different flavor.
  10. My doctor has me drinking Bariatric Advantage too. Now bowel cleanse before surgery either!
  11. Thanks everyone! I'm getting so excited, and anxious at the same time.
  12. How sore were you after surgery? My husband has the first two days of my surgery off from work, but then I'll be alone at the house until my daughter gets home from school. I'm worried about being too sore to go up and down the stairs in our house. Also worried about being able to get off the couch if I end up being stuck down stairs. Any insight is most appreciative.
  13. I can see the difference in your face and mid area. Keep up the good work girl!
  14. Fabulous February - love it! My surgery is Feb 18 at 9:30am. I started my pre-op shakes yesterday. My doctor has us use Bariatric Advantage meal replacement shakes. I'm having trouble getting in all 5 a day. It takes me at least 2 hours to finish one, and it's only made with 6-8 oz of skim milk and 2 scoops of powder. I have to keep telling myself they aren't that bad!
  15. Wow, I guess I'll take it easy. I have my pre-op appointment Monday, and I'll start my shakes after that. I don't think I've gained any weight, so hopefully this won't be a problem for me. Thanks for the advice.
  16. It's my last weekend before I start my pre-op diet. I'm getting super excited, but at the same time, not looking forward to having a liquid diet. My husband is going to take me to the Melting Pot (never been there) for an early Valentines dinner. What did you do, or are you planning to do, with your last weekend?
  17. My doctor's office did something similar to me. They told me they would fax it and asked if I had the fax number. I pointed to the bottom of the form and told them that was the number, where it said fax to #. Then, a few days later, I got a call from them, asking if I knew the fax # to send it to. I pointed out, yet again, that the number was on the bottom of the form. A week or so later, I get a call from the surgeons office. They tell me they have everything they need from me in order to schedule the surgery, with the exception of the doctors referral. I explained the situation and the surgeons office called my doctors office to get the referral. They finally have everything they need. Keep your chin up, I'm sure they will figure it out for you. Good luck
  18. My plan was to also tell as few people as possible. My husband and two daughters know, and a few good friends. I've been trying to decide if I need to tell anyone else. The closer I get to my surgery date, the more I think I'll tell others after the fact. I'm not ashamed of the surgery, I'm ashamed of the fact I got this big to begin with and now need to have surgery to help me loose it.
  19. I didn't realize this qualified for FMLA. How do you go about handling that?
  20. Rome, GA here - having my surgery done at Floyd Medical Center. Can't wait - counting down the days!
  21. WOW!! 15 lbs in the first 3 days! AMAZING! Keep up the good work!
  22. I'm going to print this and bring it to my pre-op appointment next week. I've already ordered from Bariatric Advantage and found the Wild Cherry Calcium Citrate Chewables w/ Vit D are terrible. Unfortunately, I bought a 90 day supply...I'm just waiting until they are gone. The other things I ordered from there aren't so bad. Thanks for the info!

  24. Good luck girl! I'm counting down the days until my surgery as well, thought I have to wait until Feb 18. It seems like it's a long ways away!
  25. My surgery date is Feb 18. I haven't started the shakes yet, but truely I'm not looking forward to it. I've never liked shakes, it's a texture thing. I keep trying to make smoothies and shakes here and there, trying to get used to it. My surgeon suggested freezing the shakes and having them as popsicles. I might have to try that. I'm hoping the shakes will taste good. Keeping my fingers crossed!
