    What ya eating tonight?

I had left over grilled shrimp and grilled corn from dinner last night so I chopped the shrimp, cut the corn off the cob and stirred in avocado, salt, pepper and curry powder and put it in a soft corn tortilla. YUM!!!!

    Update.

Beef wasn't allowed on my meal plan until week 7 which starts tomorrow for me. I've been so afraid of strictures and scar tissue that i've followed my surgeon's meal plan religiously.

    What ya eating tonight?

I had a small piece of grilled lemon pepper trout, some baby lima beans and a little cottage cheese.
  8. I ran a slight fever in the hospital and after I got home, especially evenings when I got tired. I was told this was normal after major surgery. I was not on any antibiotics and just controlled the fever with Tylenol. I came home with orders to call if the fever reached 101, which it never did. If it's an infection, hope they can pinpoint what the problem is. Drink, drink, drink! That will help. Dehydration can make fever worse as well. Hope you're feeling better soon!

    What ya eating tonight?

I steamed a little fish with salt, pepper and butter in the microwave and had it with a few rotini from the pasta salad my husband made for the rest of the family and some steamed green peas and a few spoonfuls of sugar free pudding for dessert. I had a rough time with fish last week so I was nervous to try again but the butter and a little tartar sauce, it was not too dry this time and I had no problems.
  10. I have the hard little bumps around all of my incisions too but just keep an eye on it and get it checked out if it continues to hurt. Someone else had the same thing going on on this board ( I can't remember who) and it turned out to be something serious. Be aware and make sure you get checked out if it doesn't start to feel better soon! Might be worth a call to your surgeon anyway.

    What ya eating tonight?

I made myself a buffalo tofu wrap and it tasted good but after the first couple of bites I realized my pouch wasn't ready for that much spice so hubby finished that and I had a little ricotta with some splenda and a little almond extract. Cooled the fire nicely.
  14. Check with your surgeon about what they allow though. For example, I wasn't allowed beans until week 4 and I can't have turkey, not even ground, until week 7. When I was eating mushy foods I was allowed mashed potato, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, cream of wheat, and oatmeal.

    Do you ever

Every day. Took me a long time to appreciate that I was an individual rather than just assume there was something wrong with me. But I struggle every day with not understanding why people do what they do and I figure they are wondering the same about me.

    Watermelon?

I get to have some fruit starting tomorrow. Will probably start with a banana or strawberries since those are what I have in the house.

    Soft foods?

When I was on soft foods my allowed foods list consisted of cottage cheese, oatmeal, cream of wheat, greek yogurt, grits, and mashed potatoes. Bland, I know, but also easy on the pouch. I'm sorry to hear you are so sad and not feeling well. Hope you feel better soon!

    So frustrated

I don't think you've screwed up your stomach. Is it because of the length of time you are taking to eat? Maybe some of it is working it's way through and making room for more before you're done. If it's taking that long, you're obviously chewing well, like you're supposed to. That mushy stuff can push through. Just an idea. I don't think anyone meant to jump down your throat, I think it's just a team effort at problem solving here. We all have stuff that comes up and makes us feel insecure and we can learn from each other's experiences. We are all learning together the best way to get along with our pouches and the best way to use our new weight loss tool. It's good to share problems and discuss solutions. Every one of us might come up against the same thing at some point.

    What ya eating tonight?

I'm on my week 3 diet so I had a scrambled egg with a little cottage cheese and ketchup. I've never been a ketchup fan but it's allowed for me at this stage and this bland diet is killing me. It tasted wonderful!!!!
  23. When it's allowed on your diet, try eating a banana once a day. Lots of potassium. I've been treated for high blood pressure for years and since I was on a diuretic, had to take potassium. Since the potassium pills always made me nauseous I only took them once in a while and I ate bananas and my lab work always came back good.

    Feeling depressed

I've been doing a lot of surfing on pinterest for recipes I WILL be able to eat once I get to those phases. I've found a lot of great tofu recipes and low carb stuff. I'm a total foodie and surfing for recipes has made me miss food less.

    Showers and work

I showered the day after surgery. I didn't have a catheter at all, so that wasn't an issue. They disconnected the IV for me to shower and I wore a rubber glove on my hand. I went back to work 2 weeks to the day after my surgery. I was tired by the end of the day, but had no issues.
