  2. I tried something new.

I don't know what to call it.

But I added up 39 g of Protein per half cup serving. And about 8g fat

    1 chicken breast

A 4rh cup of raw cauliflower

A packet of cheese from mac and cheese

Steam the cauliflower. Bake or pan fry the chicken. Combine the chicken and cauliflower in a bowl or pan. Prepare as you would mac and cheese.

    But it is super tasty.

That is probably something you could do in a foil packet. Just wrap all ingredients in foil and bake. Would be great cooked in the cheese sauce!

  3. Feel better! Honestly' date=' I think it is natural to want something from time to time we are human. Keep it in perspective and don't beat yourself up. How were you able to eat 1/2 cupcake tho I thought after surgery "bready" stuff wouldnt go down. I have a band now and can't remember the last time Ive had anything like that because it gets stuck. That doesn't happen with rny?

The fact that you ate your Protein first is a positive thing so remember that part. Feel better![/quote']

I had RNY on 3/5/13 and still get food stuck all the time. Can't eats eggs or chicken. Steak goes down pretty well but really hoping things get better so I can start eating more than fruits and veggies.

  4. I made homemade beef veggie soup' date=' lots of cabbage celery green onion green peas corn baby Lima Beans diced tomatoes and stew meat was really good. Big pot but probably won't eat but 1 small bowl lol[/quote']

I made a huge crock pot full of pot roast and ended up eating 2 small pieces of potato and 2 carrots. The meat did not go down very well. So I invited my Mom and brother for dinner and then lunch the next day. It was ice to cook again and for someone!

  5. Are u taking any preventative meds such as Pepcid or Prilosec? My dr said the discomfort with cold Water was normal but he told me I should never have "pain" and to let him know as it was not normal. I'd try to contact him again...ulcers and strictures are always something we have to watch for.

Thank you for you responses. Yes I take a Prilosec every day. I will call him again tomorrow. It is getting worse since I saw him last. What is strictures?

  6. For a little over a week I have had a pain in my stomach after I eat or drink. My surgeon felt my stomach last week and said he did not feel an ulcer. It seems to be getting worse and hurts more often Has anyone else experienced a pain like this?

  7. Can be a sign of low potassium as well

I urge you to have your potassium checked! I was hospitalized or 4 days due to potassium deficiency and will tell you that the IV of potassium hurts like hell! You do not want to go thru this if you don't have to!

  8. Grilled cheeseburger 3 oz' date=' couple bites of dill pickle and 3 bites of pork and beans....stuffed but best burger ever!!!! (Okay so I just mowed the yard and was starving.....)

    HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 217.2[/quote']

That sounds so good! I am not doing well with hamburger or chicken. Was at a cookout this weekend and drooled over everyone's burgers!!

  9. Omg I totally agree with you. I wouldn't have anything sugar free before because its so bad with all the chemicals. Now I'm completely dependent on sugar free so I am often eating Popsicles or Jello or drinks with aspartame or sucralose. I am sure that cannot be good for my health. Of course neither is being obese. I feel so conflicted!

A lot of times the sugar is not that much higher...but I too have found that the sugary items are just too sweet! Personally I eat so little I can't imagine it really makes much of a difference if you stay within your calorie goals.

  10. I just want to share this quote with all of you because I know it hits close to home with all of us knowing this isn't the easy way out! It came from the mayor or some politician that had lap band surgery...

“I said' date=' ‘Well, do you really think I need this?’ And he said to me, ‘If you came in here with cancer and I told you that I had a 40-minute surgery that'd give you a 90 percent chance of cure, would you sign up?’ And it just really crystallized it for me. And I said, ‘Yeah, I would.’ And he said, ‘Well, then why wouldn't you do that to cure obesity?’

    Surgery Date: May 2, 2013 - Amount Lost: 30lbs[/quote']

I'm pretty sure that was Chris Christie, Governor of NJ. He has been criticized and mocked about his weight since the campaign. I'm happy he made the the move to get healthier for himself and his family.

  11. Sorry to hear that! Hope you are doing better!

I'm just ready to get this show on the road! Only a week and a half!

Have you been to any support groups in the area? I went to the Fair Oaks one once' date=' thinking I may go back. Don't know of any others tho.[/quote']

No I haven't. I really have been too sick to do anything. But now that I am feeling better I thought I would go to the Fair Oak meeting in May. It's the 3rd Tuesday of the month, right?

  12. Good to hear! I was there a few times recently for other stuff and was much happier with the experience than Fairfax' date=' ugh! I think my dr likes Reston better but I've never been there and I know Fair Oaks is nice so I wanted to go there! I had to do my nutrition there too because I was having surgery there... that was... interesting... not as bad as some nutritionist I've been to but not terrible.[/quote']

Unfortunately I was just there last week for some surgery difficulties. I have had a horrible time keeping fluids in me so became dehydrated and potassium deficient. I hope things go well for you. Keep me posted on your progress and feel free to ask me anything.

  13. Yay!!! Finally the first leak test tomorrow!!! 10am! So excited! First one will be a live one' date=' meaning I will drink the contrast as they begin the ct scan and they will immediately begin to take pictures. Then after that they will do a full ct scan and possibly some X-rays. Surgeons said even if there is a leak it may not be healed up all the way yet. Their guess is I will be here at least until Monday. That's if the leak test goes well, the leak is still healing. That way they can have some time to adjust me to start drinking my liquids. Making sure the liquids go the right way and there are no issues. Cross your fingers!!

    :)[/quote']

Kraney, I feel your pain! I was in the hospital for 4 days last week use to severe Dehydration and severe potassium deficiency. I had been throwing up and had diareah for weeks. Spent 3 different days in the ER prior to being hospitalized. I dropped more than 60 pounds since March 5th and felt like I was dying with every pound I lost. I am still in the regretful stage because I have not felt good one day since the surgery. To make matters worse I can not find a Protein shake I can tolerate without vomiting. I am at a point watching TV commercials with food make me gag.

I wish you well on your tests. I went thru the same thing last week and the contrast is just so hard to drink and keep down. Keep us posted on your tests and health.

  14. Does anyone have a problem with dumping from the sugar in Protein drinks?

Yes I do...I can't keep anything inside me at all. Surgery date was March 5, and so far have not found one Protein Drink that agrees me. Can't eat or drink anything at all. Lost almost 60lbs so far but that is from not eating or drinking. Needless to say I'm totally still in the buyers remorse stage. I don't know what to do to feel better.
