  1. Good morning Everyone!

It's been too long, but this new site is not my favorite! Lol. I'm glad to see you guys are doing well and hang in in there. I too hit a scary stall that lasted a few months and the first thing I thought was "I messed something up" why did the weight loss stop. I was scared and really down I tried that 5 day pouch test and it worked I was surprised I lost 7 pounds. It took me back to the beginning and made me remember how I use to eat. I took my time eating stop drinking with my meals and I felt really great about that. I'm so close to my goal I have 27 more pounds to loose and I pray I can get there.

I'm starting to get nervous about our one year anniversary, I'm so afraid of gaining the weight back. I was so strict on myself in the beginning and I have since eaten bread, but I cut it out again and I ate some chips, well a lot of chips around the holiday and I had to break free of that. So far so good.... Remember were in this thing together it's a constant battle for us all. :D

Hi Elle, how does the 5 day pouch test work?

  2. I am a patient of Dr. Aceves. I had gastric bypass in March 2013, I am down 112 lbs and couldn't be happier. I am local so I have been blessed with having all my follow up appointments with him and Dr. Campos, they are simply the best. Care in the hospital is beyond excellent, had I not been plugged to an iv, I would've just felt like I was on vacation in a nice hotel. They both check on you 2-3 times a day, nurses are in there within seconds after calling them. All has been like a dream to me. I had minimum pain, I was actually off pain meds by the time I got home and did not need them, no nausea, no vomiting, no headaches, really, just like a dream.
One thing I love about their team is that they do not limit themselves to surgery, they hold your hand through the journey of reaching your goal and keeping it. I have gotten into the habit of running because of Dr. Aceves insisting I could do it, I keep telling him he has higher expectations of me, than I have for myself :) and he has proved he was right many times. I love the encouragement and constant support. If I had to do this all over again, I would go to him and his team in a heartbeat, they have by far exceeded my expectations in so many ways. I recommend them to anyone thinking about having WLS, they will change your life FOREVER!, I am forever grateful to them.
I have nothing but good memories about the surgery, even in the OR, recovery room, etc, they always make you feel safe and taken care of, I actually woke up to a nurse sitting by my side, watching me breath and waiting for me to open my eyes. If you choose Dr. Aceves, you will NEVER regret it.

Attached a before/current picture. Left is the day I went home from the hospital, and right is last thursday, 9 months post op!post-189817-0-89992600-1387060707_thumb.jpg

  3. I only regret not doing it sooner :D

It is the best decision I have made in my entire life. You will love the new you, make sure you follow the program and your surgeon's and nut's recommendations. I feel like I have the best surgeon and nut, but so does everyone else, I do follow their rules and everything has been fantastic. I had no complications, no pain, no nausea, no nothing.. All has been wonderful.

Keep us posted on your progress and best wishes on your journey :) I will keep you in my prayers.

  4. Hi guys!!

It's been a long time since I've posted here and just wanted to share my progress with all of you. I had my surgery on 3/11, my starting weight was 275 and I now weigh 167 lbs. I am beyond happy with the decision I made in having this surgery, it has with no doubt changed my life. I had dieted my whole life but this time it is definitely different, not only because I cannot over eat, but because of the support I have from my surgeon's team, it is like they are holding my hand the whole time. I have gotten into running and I feel great. Attached is a before/after pic, the one on the left is me last year (nov 2012) and the one on the right is exactly one year later. My first appointment with my surgeon was Nov 26, so it'll be a year next week since I began this journey. I hope everyone is doing great.

  5. I had my surgery done with Dr. Aceves, I am a bypass patient and can definitely say he is THE BEST, him and his team are all great. One very good friend of mine had a revision surgery from lapband to sleeve a couple of months after my surgery and is also very happy with the results. I live in Mexicali so I am blessed to have my follow ups with him and Dr. Campos on a monthy basis, I can assure you, you will not regret choosing him as your surgeon. Feel free to send me an inbox message if you have any specific questions.

Thank you Tasha for not giving up on the program and thanks for all the hard work you put into it. God bless you :)

  7. I did not go through the same process (insurance) but I was suggested RNY by my surgeon because of the reflux... he said the same thing your nut said, it you have it, it gets worse, if you don't have it, you might get it with the sleeve. I am as happy as can be with my RNY, have no more reflux since surgery, so best decision ever. I am 6 months out, have lost 92 lbs and have dropped 6 sizes. I hope your insurance company approves soon. C'ya in the losers bench!! ;)

  8. LOL with the murder!!!! hahahaha, have you had jell-o? No Protein in there but at least it has a different taste. The only Protein Drink I hated was Isopure, the after taste is terrible! but I am completely in love with powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein products, I highly recommend them, absolutely NO AFTER TASTE!!!

I hope it gets better for you, and congratulations on the 20 lbs lost!!! :D
