picking up kids
My Doctor told me not to lift for 6 weeks. I have a 4yr old(35lbs), who got sick and I had carry him to the Doctors. I hurt myself I was afraid that I caused some damage to the band. but it was only pulling the muscle. and it went away in a couple of days. I would be careful.

Here is the truth about the band
I can say that I am 8 wks out and I have never pb-ed. I have never thrown up, I have never felt sick after eating. Perhaps you are eating too fast, or taking too big of a bite? For me this is the best decision of my life. But I think that you must have a positive outlook in order to have a positive experience! I am not in the position to criticize any ones weight lose, are you?

Protein Drinks/ Shakes
I have never heard of only asorbing 25 grams of Protein. I got the name of the Isopure from the PA at my surgeons office. As far as filling me up. I can only sometimes finish it. I do make sure it is thick like a milkshake. It keeps me full for hours........Everyone is different, but this is what works for me. Good Luck Anna

Protein Drinks/ Shakes
Protein shakes are a must when you have this procedure. i hated mine at first. Then i found out about ISOPURE. It is a powder that I mix with 1 cup of Skim milk, 5 ice cubes and any fruit or extra flavoring I want. ti comes in a variety pak that includes Orange creamcicle, strawberrries and cream, Dutch chocolate, Creamy vanilla, and Chocolate Peanut Butter. IT has 50 GRAMS of Protein. I have put vanilla extract in the creamy vanilla, Iput a banana in the chocolate, Frozen or fresh strawberries in the strawberries and cream. I also add an equal to it sometimes. It ends up tasting like a milk shake. I use this as a meal sometimes if the scale gets stuck i will replace 2 meals with it. And the protein really keeps you from being hungry for a long time. I know this sounds like a comercial, but i have tried many and spent alot of money. I bought this on-line at 50% off the store price. Just Google Isopure. Good Luck

Is it worth it?????
Hey Queenmum, I have 7 kids, age 4 to 12. It is not bad at all. You will be given pain meds, but I didn't need them for long. As far as the PBing I have never had it happen. Just remember small, slow bites. Good Luck Anna

Losing friends...
Amy, Does your Doctor's group offer any type of therapy? Mine does and one of the first things he told me was that people will treat me differently, and I will treat others diferently. It remains to be seen. However my sister, who is heavy has treated me differently. anyway, I will be your friend!

Where do I start?
Hi Allison, I would suggest, you talk to your family Doctor. they may know of a program. Or call your local hospital, and ask if they have a Bariatric program. I am thrilled with my band and have no regrets at all. I feel so much better, with only a 28lb drop. Good Luck and just ask if you need more info. Anna

What is the hardest/worst part about being banded?
Band longterm not lifetime??????????? I asked my Doctor and he assured me it is lifelong. My biggest issue is the drinking with meals also.
-
Where do i begin????
Welcome! They will tell you step by step what you need to do. It may seem a little overwhelming, but before you know it you will have a date. Each practice is a little different, Mine offers sessions with a physical trainer, and support group within the practice. I have not regreted for 1 second, as a matter of fact my husband is being banded on 8/20/07. It will be interesting to see his pain tolerence, compared to mine.

Scared to tell boss any ideas?
Your boss does not need to know anything. I would guess that HR has already informed her. I would not put up with that kind of treatment. I would document all the issues that pertain to her and her treatment of you. You can beleive that she is not treating her bosses that way. Good Luck!

Newby :)
Dear MCBEE, PCOS is enough of "symptom" to get your surgery. You are subject to high sugers, and eventually heart problems. I can not see an insurance company not paying for it if you have PCOS. Good Luck!

Is there a measurement for pre op success?
Hi, I was told at my consultation to try to lose weight before surgery. I gained 3 lbs! My Doc never mentioned it. After surgery, I lost 25 lbs before my first fill. The surgery is a tool you will have to be disiplined. The reason they want you to lose weight is to shrink the liver, which has to be lifted during surgery. Don't panic, you will do fine. Good Luck!

First fill this morning-restriction at last!!!
Hi, I was banded on 5/24/07. I got my first fill on 6/10/07. It tokk him four tries before he found the spot, but it was not painful at all. Afterwards felt sick to my stomach, for about an hour. The resrtiction is a beautifull thing. I burp like crazy, but it is working. I need to eat slower, my chewing is fine. I can not eat bread. The thought of it makes me sick. I don't know why? But I am going to run with it. I also had 4cc at my fill on a 10cc band. I only hope this continues. I am scared to death of failure.

Anyone taking WELBUTRIN for depression?
I am also on it. I had no trouble taking it at all. My multi-vitamins were twice the size, and that was also fine. It will be interesting to see if I continue to need it?
