    Period?

Got mine 4 days after surgery and like the others it was horrible and dragged on and on. Mine never lasted longer than 2 to 3 days before. This one lasted almost 8 days. Ugh, blood thinners suck!
  2. I had surgery about 2.5 weeks ago. There was no cough for 2 weeks and then 5 days ago I have a slight sore throught and now i can't shake this cough. Its like I can't breath deep enough and it's a very dry cough. Its driving me crazy and I feel like it is robbing me of my energy. I don't even know if I can take a cough medicine or what. I will be calling my dr tomorrow but was wondering if there's anything I can do tonight and should I be worried.
  3. I tried everything! I mean everything because I was constipated (sorry for the TMI). Milk of magnesia, mirilax, colace, etc. I finally said the heck with it last night and had half of a small Dunkin donuts coffee. Best thing i could've done. This morning, after 10 days of not going, I finally was able to go. My doctor says no coffee but if it gets down to it again, I will drink the coffee!

How could I not lose weight?

I'm in the same boat. I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and haven't lost an ounce since about a week ago. My Nut said its because I'm in starvation mode and my body has to figure out that I am not going to starve it. I have actually gained a pound on occassion. I'm learning not to stress to much over it. It will fall off in it's own when it's ready. Keep excersizing, lots of water, and keep your chin up. These stalls are only a moment in time on our journey to healthy :-)

Omg this woman is driving me nuts on recovery

I was in the same position you are. The women across the hall would ask for pain meds, when she couldn't get that she would ask for zofran, when she ran out of that she would ask for tylenol, all the while crying and saying how nobody cared about her. Ugh.... My nurse cracked me up though because he gave me a little name badge that said "best patient ever" because I didn't "give him any grief". I wouldn't want a nurses job for all the money in the world. I have great respect for them.

    January 2013 Post Op

Add me to the January 9th group :-) I am 2 weeks post op today and I can not wait to see my nutritionist tomorrow. Hopefully she will release me to soft/pureed foods tomorrow. If I never drink another shake ever again I will be one happy women! a month of chalky tasting shakes has gotten the better of me. Hope everyone is having a great hump (wednesday) day!
  7. I try to give blood as often as the allow and just got an e-mail for the next blood drive at work. I will be about 10 weeks post-op and am wondering if I can do it by that point. Has anyone else done this?

    Liquid diet...how'd you do?

I did the 2 week opti-fast shake thing also. I am 1 of the ones that cheated twice. I admit it and "own" it so to speak. That being said, I am now on the 2 week post-op shake diet and haven't cheated once. I get to progress to soft foods on Thursday and I swear to God if I never have to drink another shake after this for the rest of my life I will be a happy women! What helped me with the pre-op diet the most were sugar free popsicles (5 calories I think) and gum. I also would get crystal light & make ice cubes out of them to add to my crystal light drinks and the crunch on ice. It helps with the "chewing cravings". Hope this helps.

This Is Almost A Deal Breaker!

Definately a screw-up on the deflation part. I didn't feel a thing when mine was taken out. Just embarrassed about the nurses view of my fun bits, which is ridiculous considering the day before there was a room full of people that saw me naked. Anyways, glad you got through it and that it is now behind you. Good luck on your weight loss journey!

    Embarrassing ?

I think it took about a week for me to go also (had surgery January 9, 2013). When I did go it was like a newborn babies BM. If you're on the shakes just remember there's not a whole lot for your body to produce a bm. Good luck!

    My Pouch Is Trippen

My surgery was 12 days ago so I am still on protein shakes. Every single time I take that first sip and it hits my brand new baby pouch, the old stomach growls and growls, then it stops. My kids say it reminds them of our obnoxious cat that meows and meows until he's fed. LOL

    Pcos

I have PCOS also and when I lost weight in the past only certain parts of it would lessen up. My periods would return (1 I could live without) and the pain from cysts would lesson but the body hair and headaches still happened. I wish I could've picked and chose which symptoms hung around :-)

    Actual Weightloss?

Hope things are going better and you have gotten a chance to see the changes you were expecting. Good luck!
  17. Thank you everyone for your ideas and support. I did write the letter and put it in my jewlery box. I then got my nails done and bought a food scale for when I am on solid foods. Sort of as a reminder that I am a new person and I am only getting better! Thank you again.

    2week post op liquid diet

My doctor has me drining 2 oz of protein shake (medifast) 4 times per day and as much water as my heart desires. Thats it. Next Thursday will be 2 weeks and my paperwork says I will move to soft/pureed foods such as cottage cheese or scrambled eggs. Its interesting to see how each doctor does it differently.
