  3. Hello....I am almost 5 wks post op and have been an emotional mess for the past 3 days. I kept telling everyone that I was not going to change' date=' I would still be the same person but it seems like everyone around me is treating me different which IS making me act a little different. I am also going through crying spells daily. Anyone else experiencing this???[/quote']

You're not alone is right. It's an emotial roller coaster after the surgery. I agree with the others in saying after the recovery, and you're cleared medically to start the gym you will feel much better. Try getting sunlight even if its one of those lamp bulbs for plants. They help with keeping depression under wraps. You will feel better I promise! My recovery time was supposed to be 3 wks and it was 6 so I was a mess. It gets better you just had a major life changing surgery so relax we are all here for you. :)

  4. So i have been eating raw cocktail shrimp for a week now (i can eat about 10)' date=' so tonight i cooked them and ate 3. But puked 2 min later i dont get it

I can eat 5 cooked or 3 uncooked with cocktail sauce. First couple times I got sIck within a few minutes. Certain foods don't sit right in the pouch per doctor. Try again a week or so later.

5 months post op and I can eat 3-5 and keep them down. Itsvtrial and error. I can't eat steak I puke it right up. Go figure.

  5. Hi I'm Jenn. I started off at 383 Nov. 2011. Feb. 2012 I called and made the initial consult appt. I stopped drinking iced tea and dropped 10 pounds in a week. When I weighed In for the first time I was 375. I started the workup process and needed to be done to 350 before the doctor would do the surgery. It was terrible! I mean if I was able to lose weight I wouldn't be having the surgery! Well I did it! Aug. 27th was the surgery and I was 350. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and do mostly cardio with some weights to tone up as I'm loosing. So 5 months post op and as of last Monday I weighed 265. I went from a size 30-32 jeans and shirts to a size 20 jeans and a XL shirt. I feel great! I look fantastic! I have 78 more pounds to lose but I'm getting my life back. I'm almost off disability, I'm a full-time college student and I just got a job! First one since becoming disabled in 2005.

  6. Hope deferred allows men to be made ashamed….(2 mth' date=' after bypass)

We all have this same like minded goal in minded, but now what offset it. It’s a hard blow to me to just know that all after this my weight stalls weekly, will I make it? 160 hundred pounds is a lot to consider. I’m so upset I’ve decide not to eat today. I wish I knew what to do. I’m looking a long time weight loss severer to learn form. Please share in details your program that allowed you to be a winner.

I find that other can get in your way and hold you if you them even after bypass. I sure like know if there is any better way to do stuff.[/quote']

Are you excercising? I'm 5 months out and have lost 100#s .I go to a gym 3-4 times a week. Mostly walking on the treadmill. Cardio, cardio, cardio! And the I do pushups and situps and domr weights to tone as I'm loosing. Find a gym with instructors who are trained in GBP. Get with them to help you with your goals.

  7. Anyone out there that was motivated to have the surgery because of severe knee pain?

Before surgery I was in constant pain at work and the first thing I did when I got home was ice my knees. I am down 42# with the preop diet and postop loss at 3 months. I really thought my knees at the end the day would start to feel better.

The only exercise I have been able to consistantly do is pool walking' date=' pool aerobics and pool zumba. Even with that my knees flair. So I keep to an every other day schedule.

Im am interested in others experiances. Both with the weight loss and what exercises have been most comfortable. Was there a point where the pain got less?

Ortho wont touch me for joint replacements till i lose weight , then they said 6-12 mo after i stablize because of nutritional considerations. I am probably looking at 2 more years - per their requirements. Im hoping for more like a year.

I have severe arthritis in my back and joints. Especially my rt. Hip. I found I can't use the bike but I can walk for a little over a mile but not everyday. The pain subsides but it's there sometimes to let me know that I'm overdoing it. My back pain is gone. I'm 5 months post op and went from 350 the morning ofvsurgery to 265 as of last Monday. The more I lose the better I feel.

  8. My surgery was Aug 27th. I was 350 day of surgery and now I'm at a standstill at 265. Before I could only eat 6oz. The size of a yogurt cup. Recently I increased going to the gym and am now Gibson.g myself so hungry.

Today I had Soup and then lunch was 3 inches of a turkey hoagie. All low fat. But not even an hour later my stomach was growling so bad and I was hungry again so I ate the other 3" of the hoagie. I'm not supposed to track calories but I am supposed to track portions. Am I eating to much???

Is there anyone else hungry like me? And how about going to the gym, is anyone really hungry afterwards?

  9. I can't wait to...

Wear boots that go over calves

Fit in a booth without pushing back table

Wear shoes that are not "wides"

Not need seat belt extender on flight

    Buy clothes in regular department

Be able to cross my legs

I'm 5 months out since surgery and I'm accomplishing these now. What I want to accomplish is to come off disability once and for all and to graduate from college. To fit into a size 12 jeans or smaller. And to be able to have another baby.
