  1. Thanks y'all. I appreciate the input. I've been dunking provolone cheese in hummus (which is awesome!) so maybe I'll try some cold cuts with the laughing cow cheese. I don't want to overdue anything but wasn't sure if people were occasionally eating a few (!) crackers without incident.
  2. Does anyone have any non-cracker or carb alternatives for cheese spread/hummus? Not allowed raw veggies yet.
  3. What kind did you try? Triscuits and wheat thins seem too tough. I was thinking something soft and bland like ritz...
  4. When did people start eating crackers and what kind did you try? I need something to put my laughing cow cheese or hummus on. I don't want to push boundaries though, I'm only 4 weeks out
  5. Well I lost a pound! It's not much but hopefully this means my stall is over-- hey, a loss is a loss, I'll take it!
  6. I've been told by several people, my doc included, that hair loss in inevitable. I take Biotin too, but it can only help but will not prevent the hair loss. It happens to everyone 3-5 months post surgery. He recommended volumizing shampoo, but also just to cope with the fact that its going to happen, but won't last forever. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Just know we're all going to go through it too
  7. I just registered for my first ever 5K!! I've always wanted to do one and feel like this is the perfect time to do it. It's not until April so I've got a few months to go, but this is exciting for me. I've never been a runner, but feel confident I can do this! Has anyone else ever done one?
  8. I'm from Rochester too. I went to Highland Hospital
  9. That's great! At least you had a positive first experience out. It will get better! Happy you're happy!
  10. I am a type 2 diabetic with high BP & cholesterol as well. 2 days after surgery my doc told me my blood sugar was within normal levels. I continued to take my meds for about 1-2 weeks after surgery but have been off since. It was the sole reason I did the surgery and it was worth every second!
  11. Hey all I found a new food product I am in LOVE with and thought I'd share. I live in Upstate NY and one of our finer grocery stores (Wegmans) came out with new vegetarian versions of chicken nuggets, patties, sausage and beef crumbles, etc. I bought the nuggets and patties and my stomach (and taste buds) loved them! They're all really high in protein and low in fat/carbs and very light breading. The serving size is 7 nuggets but only ate 2. I haven't checked on other name-brand items of meat substitute products, but maybe they have something in a store near you? I'm not vegetarian, but it felt nice to eat a "familiar" food without all the bad nutritional values! I've been VERY blessed that I've been able to try new foods without bad reactions.
  12. Ok, I think I'll continue to stay away, better safe than sorry. Hope you're starting to feel better jodi! ginsyn, that's too bad that even bread crumbs are bothersome to you. Think of all the carbs you're saving though! (Silver lining? )
  13. I've eaten crab cakes a couple times, but only in my house where I was able to prepare them without a lot of grease and fat. Like worm suggested, you should ask your server. I used to work in the restaurant biz and any decent server will have no problems helping you find something or making special requests for how to prepare your food (after all- you're paying for it!) It is a little nerve-wracking, but just enjoy your company and evening and you'll be fine. Besides, it's not like you'll be eating a full portion!
  14. i get the hiccups too, isn't it funny that's our new signal? It's hard to explain to people how you get full off so little, but trust me you'll know when you're there. It takes a lot longer for the mental connection to occur...at least for me.
  15. I have a meeting with my OBGyn next week, I'm going to ask about the IUD or Implant. they last for a few years. I've had bad experiences in the past with the shot & NuvaRing prior to surgery giving my symptoms similar to what you described so I've been off birth control for years, but don't want to risk anything now so I'm hoping the IUD or implant will help. I've read a couple of posts that ladies are experiencing differences in their cycle post-surgery, but I haven't had mine yet so I can't say personally. Hope you're able to get it all figured out!
  16. I'm at a stall too. I haven't lost anything this week. I lost almost 30 lbs in 3 weeks and now nothing. But, from what I've read on here, this will pass and it's normal. Doesn't make it any less frustrating though does it?
  17. December surgery friends-- are you eating tortilla shells? (like burritos/quesadillas/wraps) I've seen a few people on here mention eating those items but I wasn't sure we were "allowed" to. Are they considered bread? On an unrelated note, yesterday was my 1 month-aversary from surgery, yay!
  18. I went to a restaurant the other day too. You're right, it was hard to decide. This restaurant has amazing tomato soup so I knew I wanted that, but I felt like I needed to order more than a cup of soup. As a former waitress I felt bad ordering a small cup of soup (I should probably get over this, huh?) I ended up ordering a grilled chicken breast too. I ate only a few bites & most of the soup. It was nice to get out but it was also kind of frustrating looking at the menu with incredibly restricted options.
  19. Anyone have some nice date ideas for hubby & I that don't involve dinner/drinks? What do you all do for fun?
  20. My clothes are fitting so well right now, even the ones I thought would be too small! I'll probably have to go shopping soon
