  1. Had my 5-6 week post-op follow up today. Nutritionist said I'm doing everything right and showing an excellent weight loss. Once I'm able to get in at least 60g protein by food I can wean off the protein shakes--hallelujah!! Got another Rx for Vitamin D, but got taken off the prilosec and something else I cant remember now. Another 3 weeks or so on soft foods and I'll be bumped up to the "lifestyle" plan aka "regular" food. Feeling blessed that I've had such a smooth recovery and sending thoughts to those who have not been so lucky.
  2. Yikes! That was my least favorite part. Hope it passes soon...
  3. I had "Tacos" aka 1/2 cup of filling (FF refried beans, ground turkey & onion) with 1Tbsp mango salsa and 1Tbsp light sour cream. Delish!
  4. Found this recipe for white chicken chili & thought I would share! Looks low fat & Protein packed! http://designwinedine.com/2011/10/24/white-chicken-chili/
  5. Found this recipe today for chicken chili. Don't have nutrition info but looks low fat and protein packed! Will be making soon!! http://designwinedine.com/2011/10/24/white-chicken-chili/
  6. i liked eggs pre-op, but for some reason during weeks 3 & 4 post-op all I wanted to eat was eggs. I craved them morning noon and night haha. Your sense of fullness won't be immediate, which is why we have to eat slow, but getting in a whole egg isn't bad. Glad you were able to enjoy it, it was my first solid food too
  7. I know our bodies are going through a rampant change in hormones (especially us ladies) but is anyone else experiencing major changes in their complexion/skin? I take Biotin, which I thought is supposed to help with skin (my nails sure have benefitted!) but I feel like I'm breaking out more than usual.
  8. I found these "chips" in my grocery store today. Check out the nutritional info/ingredients. What do y'all think? http://snikiddy.com/product/sea-salt-veggie-chips
  9. I found these "Chips" today at my grocery store. Check the nutritional info/ingredients. What do y'all think? http://snikiddy.com/product/sea-salt-veggie-chips
  10. Neither, being a seafood restaurant they had some good options (I did pull the menu off first) but I was just curious about other people's restaurant experience
  11. This has been a problem in my house too, especially since I hate leftovers but my husband cringes anytime extra food gets tossed. I'm hoping its a temporary thing too because its been quite the waste of money when I thought I'd be saving so much too. I'm finding I'm spending more though because I'm buying new things and trying new foods. I guess like everything else in life after wls, this too shall pass.
  12. Oops didnt finish that last post before sending! Any restaurant favorites or those you recommend others stay away from? (Besides the obvious fast food)
  13. We're going out with friends tonight to Joes Crab Shack to celebrate my husbands birthday. This is my first time out to eat with people since surgery 5 weeks ago. What experiences have others had while eating out? Any restaurant recommendations or
  14. I know this doesn't technically count because its breakfast & not dinner, but I had 1.5 eggs and a meatless sausage patty with a few ounces of Trop50 OJ. Felt like a real meal!! First "meal" I've eaten since surgery that wasn't just some chicken breast or yogurt, etc. it's the small victories
  15. I just bought a new swimsuit, hope it fits when it comes time to wear it
  16. Stop eating/drinking when you are full! I am 5 weeks out today and still can't get in more than 40oz of water and I'm just starting to get to about 70g protein. I know more protein & water may help you lose faster, but listen to your body, that's the most important. If you're feeling full or uncomfortable, stop. The weight will come off, especially at only 11 days. You'll be fine if you don't get the full amount in, your body needs time to heal, it all comes with time
  17. We have friends coming in from out of town to celebrate my husbands birthday. We're going to Joe's Crab Shack. This will be my first time out with friends too.. We'll see how it goes!
  18. This is why I've "advanced" myself on my diet from purée to soft. One can only eat the same 10 mushy items over and over before you go nuts! I'm so sick of Greek yogurt. My 1st follow up with my nutritionist is next week. Curious to see if she's excited I'm eating well or if she scolds me for going too fast.
  19. Lisa that DOES sound amazing! I've had "taco" night a couple times, aka just the filling, but can't wait for lettuce wraps!
  20. I had a Smart Ones Roast Turkey with gravy & mashed potatoes. The turkey was good and soft. Ate a few bites of 'tatoes, but they were bland and I was already full from the turkey. Not bad though for microwave food on the cheap. Plus I get 2 meals out of it
  21. Hit 71g of protein today, a new personal best!! Still can't get in more than 32oz of water though...that's my new goal
  22. What is a blind NG tube? I never knew we were supposed to get these?
  23. I'm a month post-op and feel like food runs my life so much more now than it did before. I feel like all I do is think about what, when and how much I can eat and I feel like I talk about food so much now to people. Maybe it's just because I'm now paying attention and before I would just mindlessly eat whatever I wanted, but I don't want people to think I'm some food-obsessed weirdo who can't talk about anything other than my new food lifestyle.
  24. I had 2 slices of low fat colby jack cheese and a Morningstar Farms "sausage" patty. 10g protein each and delicious!
